and W . J . Melling P . M . Secretary were the Installing Masters , and they are to be highly commended for the successful manner in which every detail of tbe ceremony waa performed . The Lo ^ ge was opened at au early hour in the day , and after the minutes of the last regular meeting hai been read and confirmed , Brother W . H . Dando , who had expressed n desire to become a M . M ., was subjected to the usual

interrogatorie ? , which lie answered efficiently , being afterwards raised to the sublime degree by Rrother Hoyland , assisted by Brother Melling , who presented the working tools . These preliminaries over , a Board of Installed Masters was formed , with tho following as principal Officers , viz .: —Brothers Hoy land acting W . M . and Install , ing Master , William Drabble W . M . 1459 acting S . W ., and George

Parker W . M . 1083 as acting J . W . Brother James Hayes S . W . Worshipful Master elect was presented to the Installing Master by Brother Melling , tbe ancient constitutional questions were addressed to him by Brother George Edward Wund P . M ., after whioh he was duly obligated , installed and invested . The Officers appointed by Brother Hayes to support him during the forthcoming year were : —

Brothers Richard Booth I . P . M ., J . W . Atkinson S . W ., R . W . Atkin . son J . W ., W . Rostron Treasurer , W . J . Melling P . M . Secretary , William Hoyland P . M . Director of Ceremonies , W . Goodman S . D ., T . C . Lilley J . D ., W . Hyde I . G ., C . Paine , A . T . Browne , J . Halliday , and J . R . Farrar Stewards . Brother Melling addressed the W . M ., Officers , and Brethren , and had evidently come prepared for the task ,

for he delivered the various exhortations in a manner whioh was fluent , impressive , and correct . Subsequently the Auditors ( Brothers J . W . Atkinson and W . Goodman ) presented their report , whioh elicited universal approval , they having announced that a former adverse balance had now been converted into a substantial surplus . Brother Lilley proposed and Brother Melling seconded the

proposition that the name of Mr . W . George Gosling be snbmitted to the ballot for membership of the Ardwick Lodge , and Brother Rostron proposed that Mr . H . G . Walker be also admitted , this proposition being seconded by Brother G . E . Wand . The remaining ordinary business being disposed of , the Lodge was closed in peace and harmony , after whioh tbe brethren sat down to a substantial dinner ,

provided by the host , Brother George Fox , in his charactenstioally admirable manner . At the festive board which followed tho usual Loyal and Masonio toasts were honoured , the same being relieved by the efforts of a talented glee party , under the direotion of Brother Nathaniel Dumville P . W ., by the Worshipful Master , Wardens , and many Brethren of the mother Lodge . After a few introductory remarks the Worshipful Master Bro . Wm . Kirkland appointed his Officers , as follow : —Bros . Alfred Green P . M . asS . W ., William RadclifTe P . M . as J . W ., G . E . Higginson W . M . 1791

as Preceptor , G . Cockrell J . W . ns Treasurer , H . Lindfiold P . M . as Secretary , W . J . Dyer S . W . as S . D ., C C . Barber 1585 as J . D ., A . B . Spawforth J . D . as I . G ., and G . Copley S . D . as Steward . Tho following brethren were also present : —Bros . S . Webb P . M . 1287 , J . Davis P . M . 169 , W . Densham I . P . M . 957 , C . B . F . Mount I . G . 211 , G . E . The Lodge was opened in due form with solemn prayer and the ceremony of initiation was rohoarsed , Brother J . Davies P . M . acting as candidate . The < W . M . rose for the first time when all the brethren present became joining members of the Lodge aud the dues were

collected . On tho second time of rising Brother Alfred Green was unanimously elected to fill the chair at the next meeting . On rising for the third time , it was proposed by the Preceptor , seconded by Brother G . Cockrell , and supported by Brother J . Davies that the W . M . and Wardens of tbe evening bo elected honorary members of the Lodge , which was agreed to . Brother Higginson thanked the

W . M . and brethren of tho St . Michael's Lodge for the gift of the furniture for the use of the Lodge of Instruction . After some complimentary remarks were made by Bros . Radoliffe , Green , and J . Davies , Bro . S . Webb in a few well choien words proposed that a hearty vote of thanks should be recorded on the minutes to Brother G . E .

Higginson for his kiudnesi in taking the Preceptorship of the Lodge . This was seconded by Bro . Barber and nnaniuiousiy carried , and suitably responded to by Bro . Higginson . The bye-laws of the St . Michael ' s Lodge of Instruction wero then read and adopted by the brethren . Hearty good wishes were given to tho W . M ,, and the Lodge was then closed in due form .

Crusaders Lodge of Instruction , No . 1677 . —On Friday , the 17 th ult ., at tho Northampton Arms , 205 Goswoll Road , E . C , in generous responce to special request tho ceremonies of consecration and installation were as a rshearsal beautifully rendered by Brother James Terry P . G . Sword Bearer P . Prov . Grand Senior Warden Norths and Hunts P . M . 228 1278 1366 , and Secretary of the Royal

Masonio Benevolent Institution . A very large number of brethren were in assembly , Brothers J . Bladon P . M . being S . W ., A . Humphreya J . W ., E . Dimes Secretary , C . Weeden P . M . Preceptor , A . J . Dixie P . M . Director of Ceremonies , J . Speller P . M . I . G ., F . Humphreys Organist , Dr . Hunter Treasurer . Brother Arthur Millward conducted tho musical portions of the ceremonies , assisted by Brothers J . Culver , King , and Gray . In the second portiou Brother

Terry acted as Installing Master , and at the dose a vote of thanks was accorded to Brother Terry as Consecrating and Installing Officer , and to all tbe brethren who had assisted and been in readiness to assist hira in the important and all-interesting duties . The thanks returned were full and complete in their character , and the proceedings closed with the nsual ceremonies .

Chiswick Lodge of Instruction , No . 2012 . —A meeting was held on Saturday , the 25 th ult ., at the Windsor Castle Hote ' , King Street , Hammersmith , when the following were present : — Bros . A . Williams P . M . Preceptor , Powell W . M ' ., Guy S . W ., Reid J . W ., Spiegel P . M . Seoretary , MoDermott S . D ., Walden W . M . J . D ., R . J . Williams I . G ., and Craggs , Hyde , Whiteley , Hillier , Fox ,

Jobson , Larkham , Edelstein , Kirkham , Hiscott , Cronin . Tho Lodge was opened in dne form and the minutes of the previous meeting were read and confirmed . The first section of the lecture was worked by Bro . Hillier , and the second section by the Preceptor . Bro . Jobson being a candidate for passing was examined and entrusted . The

Lodge was opened in the second degree , and the ceremony of passing was rehearsed . The Lodge was opened in the third degree . Brother Guy was elected Worshipful Master for the next meeting . The votes for Boys at the disposal of the Lodge were handed to Brother A . Williams . The Lodge was closed in due form .
