The pedeftals of tho Worshipful Mnster and Wardens were neatly carved , and added greatly to tho cencral pleasing effect , while the floor wa ** covered with linobmm , which helped to give the
building a comfortable apparance . It should be mentioned that tho two new Lodge banners nsed on the occasion wero nlso hand painted by Bro . Marshall . Oa the banners the motto of the Lodge was prominently displayed , and appeared nn appropriate one , viz . — ' ¦ Spes Vincit Omnia Impedimenta "— " Hope overcomes all obstnclep . " One of these banners was carried in tbe procession .
Eeferring again to the Temple itself , it will be remembered tbat the fire went throngh the whole building , sparing only the chamber , sacred to working in the third degree . All the documents wero rescued , but litt'e else could bo recovered of tho valuable belongings of the Lodgo . The stnt * ary , the work of bye-gone sjoncrations , and the -selections of a eonturv nnd a u . tarter had to bo loft in tho
burning buildi ' iisr , but tbey will shortly bo replaced . Tho Charter waa saved , but the Southern Cross Lodge , which nlso held their meetings in the Temple , wns Io * -s fortunat- * in this respect .
