Ttuit restoration has row boon completed , with the exception of the ftilnnry , which haa been ordered from Europe , anti the reoporiinjr , which look place on Thursday , the 27 th April , was carried throngh with appropriate and fitting ceremonial .

Invitations were r . xlonded to LSI Ladges and Chapters throughout Sinth Africa lo nt'end tho function , and there wero between ¦ 100 nnd 500 members of the Craft present . Inside tho restored Temple , which is slid to bo tho third Finest- in all tho -world , and rivalling in splendour the beautiful creation nt Malta , the members and visitors were

gr . itefnl to find that the bnilding a ? nin possessed its original magnificence ; indeed , some brethren went tho length of saying thnt it had a better appearance , if that were possible . It certainly looked grand , and wonderfully impressive . The furniture appeared greatly improved , nnd the npholstery work was exceedingly effective . Tho ceilinc , painted by Bro . J . F . Marshall , to represent

tbe firmament , and tho transparencies in the oast , also executed by the same hand , were exquisitely finished , and u-cro admired by all present . The pedeftals of tho Worshipful Mnster and Wardens were neatly carved , and added greatly to tho cencral pleasing effect , while the floor wa ** covered with linobmm , which helped to give the

building a comfortable apparance . It should be mentioned that tho two new Lodge banners nsed on the occasion wero nlso hand painted by Bro . Marshall . Oa the banners the motto of the Lodge was prominently displayed , and appeared nn appropriate one , viz . — ' ¦ Spes Vincit Omnia Impedimenta "— " Hope overcomes all obstnclep . " One of these banners was carried in tbe procession .

Eeferring again to the Temple itself , it will be remembered tbat the fire went throngh the whole building , sparing only the chamber , sacred to working in the third degree . All the documents wero rescued , but litt'e else could bo recovered of tho valuable belongings of the Lodgo . The stnt * ary , the work of bye-gone sjoncrations , and the -selections of a eonturv nnd a u . tarter had to bo loft in tho

burning buildi ' iisr , but tbey will shortly bo replaced . Tho Charter waa saved , but the Southern Cross Lodge , which nlso held their meetings in the Temple , wns Io * -s fortunat- * in this respect . This Lodge has been working nt Ihe Br ' t / sh Lodge Temple , kindly placed nt their disposal , and will now remove to their former meeting place , whioh is a matter for great gratification to the Brethren .

It is to be hoped , as was expressed in ( be programme , thafc tho restored Temple may stand for many generation ? , and thafc peace harmouy and brotherly lovo may continue within its walls for all time . Tho programme for tbo reopening ceremony was a most elaborate rate oue , and had been carefully arranged so as to prevent hitch . Tbe Sister Lodges and Brother Visitors assembled in the

Masonic Hall , St . John Street , at G' 30 p . m ., and formed a procession in the following order : Entered Apprentice . , Fellow Crafts , Master Masons , Pasfc Masters , Worship * !*! Mast * v 3 of Lodges , which procession , headed by tbe W . M ., Officers and Membera of the Lodgo Do Gocdo Hoop , proceeded to the Temple of tho Lodge . Upou arrival there , tbe Architect hnnded to the W . M . of the Lodge the kev of the

Temple door . The W . M . then unlocked the door , arid declared the Temple re-opened . Tho proceedings inside fcho Temple , of course , cannot bo reported in these column ? , bo in ; - altogether of f . Masonic character , and therefore secret . Thrapston , New Malton , Wimbledon , Fcltham , Harwich , Preston , Hampton Court , Aboravou , Deal , Sbeeruess , Calcutta , Liverpool , Boston , Bolton , and Carmarthen . In the course of four hours sittiner three of these were

dismissed and five deferred . The remainder wero voted a total of -6760 . There was one recommendation to Grand Lodge for £ 75 , and two for £ 50 each ; five recommendations to tho Grand Master for £ 40 each , six for £ 30 each , and one for £ 25 . Seven grants were made of £ 20 each , three of £ 10 each , and two of £ 5 each .

There was one recommendation to Grand Lodge for £ 75 , and two for £ 50 each ; five recommendations to tho Grand Master for £ 40 each , six for £ 30 each , and one for £ 25 .
