Charles Truscott entertained the brethren to a banqnet at the General Wolfe

Hotel ( Bro . Jobs ) . Bro . Truscott occupied tho chair , ancl Brother Lukes tho vice-chair . About thirty brethren assembled . The principal toast was the health of Bro . Charles Truscott . It was proposed by Bro . Higman , who alluded regretfully to tho fact that Bro . Truscott is about to leave the neighbourhood . Bro . Truscott , in reply , alluded to tho fact that he had been a Mason for twenty-six

years , and having been initiated in Peace and Harmony . Ho was extremely sorry to leavo them , but he hoped to visit them occasionally , and to retain his connection with them as a subscribing member of the Lodge . Bro . Truscott spoke very feelingly , and was most heartily applauded . The toast of the Visitors was ably responded to by Bros . Kevern aud Brewer .

FAITH LODGE , No . 581 ( OPENSHAW ) . THE installation of Bro . Whittaker took place , and the St . John ' s Festival was celebrated , at Bro . Pollitt ' s , Church Hotel , on Wednesday , the 16 th nit . Present : —Bros . Wainwright W . M ., Keighley I . P . M ., Whittaker S . W ., Barnes J . W ., Frost Secretary , BrownJ . D ., Richardson P . M . P . P . G . S . D ., Tyers P . M ., Rathbono P . M ., Greenup P . M ., Moran , Chadderton , Connor , Hartley , Lees , AdHhead , and Harrison . Visitors : —Bros . Gaggs Organist 2156 , Trevor-Smith

Tho minutes of the previous meeting having been read and confirmed , the Lodgo was opened in tho second degree , aud Bro . Moran having answered the necessary questions , was subsequently raised to the

sublime degree of a M . M . by the W . M . The Lodge being lowered to the second degree , Bro . Rathbone P . M . took the chair , for the purpose of installing tbe W . M .-elect ( Bro . Whittaker ) . After the usual preliminaries , 'Bro . Whittaker was presented to tho Installing Master , and , with all due rite and ceremony , inducted into the chair ofK . S . On the re-admission of tho M . M . Bro . Whittaker was

proclaimed Worshipful Master of the Faith Lodge for tho ensuing year , and he was sainted in tho customary manner . Bro . Josr-ph Truelove Richardson P . M . P . P . G . S . D . then invested the following brethren Officers for the year : —Barnes S . W ., H . B . Brown J . W ., John Brown Treasnrer , Frost Secretary , Hartley S . D ., Harrison J . D ., Greenup P . M . D . of C , Lever I . G ., Jones , Adshead , and Woolff Stewards , and

Dawson P . M . Tyler . Bro . Richardson also addressed the W . M . and brethren , and Bro . Greenup P . M . the Warden ? . Thero bein ; no further business , hearty good wishes were expressed by tlio visiting brethren , and tho Lodgo was closed in peace and harmony . Tho brethren afterwards celebrated the Festival of St . John at a banqnet , which gave satisfaction to all present , and reflected credit on Bro .

Pollitt , his wife , and assistants' . Tho usual preliminary Loyal and Masonio toasts were proposed by the W . M ., and duly honoured . Tho health of the W . M . was proposed in eulogistic terms by Bro . Wainwright , who referred in high terms of praise to the groat interest and care Bro . Whittaker had taken in every duty that had been allotted him . At tho time he ( Rro . Wainwri ght ) was beim < pa-sod

in the Faith Lodge , tho W . M . was initiated , so that practically they had been running in harness together through the various cilices in the Lodge . Ho was sure the brethren could not have elected a more worthy Brother to preside over them than Bro . Whittaker , who would perform his duty ably and well . Ho would ask them to rise and drink heartily to tho toast . The invitation , it is needless to say , was

promptly responded to , after which Bro . Fred Hilton sang " Here ' s to his Health in a Song . " The W . M ., in reply , said he felt it very difficult for him to express adequately his thanks for the kind expressions of opinion that had fallen from tho I . P . M ., nnd the kindness that ho had experienced at the hands of tho brethren ever since he had belonged to the Lodge . Ho assured them he felt very

proud of tho position they had placed htm in , and would do his utmost to merit tho confidence reposed in him during his year cf office . It was a difficult matter to follow in tho footsteps of thoso able Masters who had preceded him , but ho would do his best . The Lodge had a good roll of members at the present time , and a good balance in the bank , a portion of whioh would , at an early date ho

trusted , be devoted to charity . He felt sure his Officers wcnll support him in his efforts to maintain the prestigo tbe Lodge enjoyed , and , if so , he felt sure tho brethren wonld never regret havinw elected him to preside over them . The health of the Installing Master , Bro . Rathbone , was proposed iu glowing terms , for tha admirable manner ho had performed the ceremony that day , and

trusted he would long bo spared to givo tho Faith Lodge hia valuable assistance . Tho toast was heartily drank ; and , in reply , Bro . Rathbone said it had given him exceeding pleasure to instal Brother Whittaker into the chair of K . S ., inasmuch as ho had known him for n great number of years , and also his parents , and , ia addition , had had the pleasure of proposing him for initiation in tho Faith Lodge . It would therefore bo easily understood , what pleasure it had given

him to instal so worthy a member mto the chair , one who had done credit to his introduction end to the Lodge . So far as hia ( Bro Rathbone ' s ) services woro concerned , ho felt at all times only tio happy to render any assistance or advice iu Iris power . His heat t was with his Lodge ; and ho assured them , so long as ho was a member , ho should do all that lay in his power for it . Tho health of tho I . P . M . was proposed by tho W . due rite and ceremony , inducted into the chair of K . S . Bro . Parkor was proclaimed to tho M . M . ' s on thoir re-entry to the Lodgo and saluted in the customary manner . Bro . Davies then invested and addressed tho following brethren Officers for tho year , viz . : — Bros . Walker S . W ., Bibby J . W ., Lord Treasnrer , Clulow Secretary , Looker S . D ., Edwards J . D ., Allitt P . M . Dir . of Cers ., Green I . G .,

Dillon , Plumpton , Osborne , Pearce , Ward , Mottram and Poole Stewards . The address to the W . M . was delivered by Bro . Fletcher I . P . M ., and to the Wardens and Brethren by Bro . Peak , who eon . clnded the ceremony with prayer . The highest credit is reflected on Bro . Peak for tho extreme care and correctness with whioh he performed the ceremony , tho euloginms passed upon it later on by

Bro . Lieut .-Col . Clark being thoroughly deserved . The balancesheet , a copy of which was handed to each member , presented a very healthy appearance , and was adopted . There being no further business , hearty good wishes were expressed by the numerous visitors and the Lodgo was closed in peace and hirntony . The brethren subseqnontly celebrated the Festival of St . John at a banqnet , prepared

by tho worthy host nnd hia assistants . Tho nsual Loval and Masonic toasts woro proposed and honoured , that of the V . W . D . P . G . M . and the Provincial Graud Officers being replied to by Bro . Lieut .-Col . Clark and Bro . Timperloy . Tho toist of tho evening , viz ., the W . M . ( Bro . Parker ) wan ably propose ! by Bro . Fletcher and , needless to pay , enthusiastically recived and heartily drank , Bro . Peak singing

" Here ' s to his health , " with great verve . Tho W . M . made an appropriate reply , and in alluding to tbo expressive and beautiful words of the row :, n-. i ably sang by Bro . Peak , « aid it perhaps might not be geneially kn > -. v : i that , ihe ablo compjser of the song , Bro . Dr . Beni ley , wa ? ii member of tho Alexandra Lodgo at tho time he composed it and dedicated it to the Lodge . Since that time it had been

generally sang at all tho installation meeting * , not only in Ease Lancashire , but other Proviuues . Respecting the toast of his health , it gave him , ho need scarcely say , great pleasure to bo onco again installed W . M . of tho Alexandra Lodge , a position which many of them knew ha held seventeen years ago . He assured the brethren he had never censed to take a treat interest in the Lodge over since

ho joined it , and with the assistance of his Officers , whom he felt convinced were thoroughly competent to perform thoir duties , he would do his utmost to merit the confidence reposed in him . The health of tho I . P . M . was proposed and responded to , and a handsome Past Master ' s jowel presented , manufactured by Bro . H . T . Lamb , of London . Other toasts were honoured , including the Visitors , thu Past Masterw , Officers , & c . An excellent musical programme ,

arranged by Bro . Dottie , was thoroughly enjoyed . Bro . Doltie , wbo is well known aud higtily appreciated in and around Manchester , contributed a scano from " Venice Preserved , " and later on a pieco by tho Into Edwin Waugh , in tlio Lancashire dialect , entitled " Tho Nomination . " Bro . Dunbar also rendered , with dramatic effect , tho Torreador ' s song , from " Carmen , " and tho " Village Blacksmith . " Other contribution ? , from Bros . Robinson , Walker , Liseuden , & c , were much applauded .

WEST MIDDLESEX LODGE , No . 1612 . AT a recent meeting of the members , Bro . Pooloy presiding , a presentation waa mudo to Bro . Burr , on th ' o occasion of his leaving London for Shrewsbury , to take up the position of goods manager . Bro . Kasner said it was wall known that they were about to lose tho sor . vicjs of a brother who had faithfully served the Lodge for a number of years past . Bro . Bnrr , as many of the brethren know , was ono o £

tho founders of tho West Middlesex Lodge , and out of ten of thoso brethren he regretted to aay there woro but sis remaining at tho prosent time . Besides being a founder Bro . Burr was also a Past Master , and for a nnmber of years had faithfully and zealously performed tho duties of Secretary . Tho brethren ono and all knew

the amount ot labour ho had thrown into hia work in carrying out tho duties of that office , and that ho had exercised that brotherly kindness wl . ir-h had won for him an amount o : Iaspect and esteem whioh would cause his namo al . vays to bo remembered . When Bro .

Burr ' s contemplated resignation waa mentioned at the lust meeting , tho Treasurer , Bro . Acworth , suggested that somo token of their recognition of his services should bo presorted to Bro . Burr , aud he ( Bro . Kasner ) was pleased to bo ablo to state that the hearty response

Bro . Peak was chosen to perform the duties of Installing Mastor and he forthwith took the chair for that purpose . Tho W . M . elect ( Bro . Parker ) having been dnly presented to the Installing Master , was , with all

due rite and ceremony , inducted into the chair of K . S . Bro . Parkor was proclaimed to tho M . M . ' s on thoir re-entry to the Lodgo and saluted in the customary manner . Bro . Davies then invested and addressed tho following brethren Officers for tho year , viz . : — Bros . Walker S . W ., Bibby J . W ., Lord Treasnrer , Clulow Secretary , Looker S . D ., Edwards J . D ., Allitt P . M . Dir . of Cers ., Green I . G .,

Dillon , Plumpton , Osborne , Pearce , Ward , Mottram and Poole Stewards . The address to the W . M . was delivered by Bro . Fletcher I . P . M ., and to the Wardens and Brethren by Bro . Peak , who eon . clnded the ceremony with prayer . The highest credit is reflected on Bro . Peak for tho extreme care and correctness with whioh he performed the ceremony , tho euloginms passed upon it later on by

Bro . Lieut .-Col . Clark being thoroughly deserved . The balancesheet , a copy of which was handed to each member , presented a very healthy appearance , and was adopted . There being no further business , hearty good wishes were expressed by the numerous visitors and the Lodgo was closed in peace and hirntony . The brethren subseqnontly celebrated the Festival of St . John at a banqnet , prepared

by tho worthy host nnd hia assistants . Tho nsual Loval and Masonic toasts woro proposed and honoured , that of the V . W . D . P . G . M . and the Provincial Graud Officers being replied to by Bro . Lieut .-Col . Clark and Bro . Timperloy . Tho toist of tho evening , viz ., the W . M . ( Bro . Parker ) wan ably propose ! by Bro . Fletcher and , needless to pay , enthusiastically recived and heartily drank , Bro . Peak singing

" Here ' s to his health , " with great verve . Tho W . M . made an appropriate reply , and in alluding to tbo expressive and beautiful words of the row :, n-. i ably sang by Bro . Peak , « aid it perhaps might not be geneially kn > -. v : i that , ihe ablo compjser of the song , Bro . Dr . Beni ley , wa ? ii member of tho Alexandra Lodgo at tho time he composed it and dedicated it to the Lodge . Since that time it had been

generally sang at all tho installation meeting * , not only in Ease Lancashire , but other Proviuues . Respecting the toast of his health , it gave him , ho need scarcely say , great pleasure to bo onco again installed W . M . of tho Alexandra Lodge , a position which many of them knew ha held seventeen years ago . He assured the brethren he had never censed to take a treat interest in the Lodge over since

ho joined it , and with the assistance of his Officers , whom he felt convinced were thoroughly competent to perform thoir duties , he would do his utmost to merit the confidence reposed in him . The health of tho I . P . M . was proposed and responded to , and a handsome Past Master ' s jowel presented , manufactured by Bro . H . T . Lamb , of London . Other toasts were honoured , including the Visitors , thu Past Masterw , Officers , & c . An excellent musical programme ,

arranged by Bro . Dottie , was thoroughly enjoyed . Bro . Doltie , wbo is well known aud higtily appreciated in and around Manchester , contributed a scano from " Venice Preserved , " and later on a pieco by tho Into Edwin Waugh , in tlio Lancashire dialect , entitled " Tho Nomination . " Bro . Dunbar also rendered , with dramatic effect , tho Torreador ' s song , from " Carmen , " and tho " Village Blacksmith . " Other contribution ? , from Bros . Robinson , Walker , Liseuden , & c , were much applauded .

WEST MIDDLESEX LODGE , No . 1612 . AT a recent meeting of the members , Bro . Pooloy presiding , a presentation waa mudo to Bro . Burr , on th ' o occasion of his leaving London for Shrewsbury , to take up the position of goods manager . Bro . Kasner said it was wall known that they were about to lose tho sor . vicjs of a brother who had faithfully served the Lodge for a number of years past . Bro . Bnrr , as many of the brethren know , was ono o £

tho founders of tho West Middlesex Lodge , and out of ten of thoso brethren he regretted to aay there woro but sis remaining at tho prosent time . Besides being a founder Bro . Burr was also a Past Master , and for a nnmber of years had faithfully and zealously performed tho duties of Secretary . Tho brethren ono and all knew

the amount ot labour ho had thrown into hia work in carrying out tho duties of that office , and that ho had exercised that brotherly kindness wl . ir-h had won for him an amount o : Iaspect and esteem whioh would cause his namo al . vays to bo remembered . When Bro .

Burr ' s contemplated resignation waa mentioned at the lust meeting , tho Treasurer , Bro . Acworth , suggested that somo token of their recognition of his services should bo presorted to Bro . Burr , aud he ( Bro . Kasner ) was pleased to bo ablo to state that the hearty response
