The Benevolent Institution.
augury of the support to be secured for future Festivals of the year , for as had been pointed out , all the Institutions were equally deserving of support and , it was fair to believe , were equally sure of receiving it . Bro . A . Spaull proposed the Stewards—a toast that must recommend itself , in view of what they had achieved . The result of the day could not have been arrived at without great labour and great trouble . The Institution
was grateful for the large amount received , and truly thankful that the efforts of the Stewards this year had enabled them to add five more men to the list of Annuitants . They thanked the Board of Stewards most heartily for having laboured so well . BrO . E . C . Else P . G . D . Deputy Prov . G . M . Somersetshire President of the Board replied . He first desired to express his thanks to the Stewards for
having elected him as President of the Board and next had to thank Brother Farnfield , for having taken the chair at the different meetings , in his absence . The Chairman would be able to look back Upon that day as one on which he Had done good suit and service to the Craft . Although Lord Dungarvan was a yoiing MasOn there were few who had done more for the Order in the short time he had been associated with it than he . Every Lodge in his Lordship ' s
Province , and nearly every Boyal Arch Chapter and other Masonio body was represented there that evening and had helped to secure the grand total that had been announced . He ( Bro . Else ) had been associated with the Province of Somerset for nearly a quarter of a century and was proud of its latest achievement . Bro . Col . Perkins proposed the toast of the Ladies , whioh was
acknowledged by Bro . G . H . Parke , of West Yorkshire , who earlier in the evening had been specially thanked for his personal donation of one hundred guineas to the Fund . Bro . Parke considered it would be far better for Freemasonry if the Ladies were taken more to thoir hearts—Masonically . He hoped the time would come when it would be possible for the Ladies to take a more
prominent part in the work of the Craft , and especially of its Charity Festivals . There was a great deal to be said on behalf of the Ladies being admitted into Freemasonry , and if this were done he was convinced the result of the different Festivals would show an immediate increase . The meeting then broke up , and the Brethren repaired to the Temple , where the usual concert was given .
The following is a list of the Stewards , together with the amount brought up by each , with late additions :
