NOTICES OF MEETINGS . HENRY LEVANDER LODGE , No . 2048 .

THE election meeting of thia Lodge was held at the Railway Hotel , Harrow Station , on Saturday last , the 25 th ult ., and was well attended . Amongst the brethren present were Bros . Henry Lovegrove P . M . P . P . G . S . W . Middr . W . M ., C . J . Axford S . W ., W . A . Scurrah J . W ., C . P . McKay P . M . Sec , P . Cheek S . D ., John Johnson J . D ., R . M . Surridge I . G ., W . H . Burgess D . C , Harry Webb S .,

James Very Tyler ; also Bros . R . Wilkins , T . E . Worrall , T . Reece , T . Barfoot , W . W . Smith , A . W . Wace , E . R . Chinn , & c , & c . The Visitors were Bros . George Edwards W . M . 1507 , James Stevens P . M . 720 , & o ., H . Dickey Sec 1745 , R . Ross D . C . 1745 , W . Hunt Old Concord Lodge , C . Everett 1507 . The Lodge was opened with

commendable punctuality at 4 . 30 p . m ., and the minntes of the previous meeting having been confirmed , the F . C . degree was conferred upon Bro . Robert Wilkin , initiated at a former meetinsr , and , at the request , and in the presence of the W . M . of the Metropolitan Lodge , Bro . Edwarda , on Bro . Charles Everett , of tint Lodge . The Lodge

was olosed to the first degree , and Messrs . Edgar Robert Clunn and S . Reece were duly initiated into the Order , the W . M . ( Bro . Lovegrove ) and his Olficera very efficiently rendering the ceremonies in both degrees . Bro . John Read P . M . 720 , and of the Friends in Counoil Lodge , No . 1383 , was elected a member of the Lodge , and

invested with the oollar of Organist . The eleotion of Worsh ipfal Master , Treasurer , and Tyler for the ensuing year then took place-In regard to tbe former office a practical exemplification of true Masonio feeling and brotherly love was given by the retirement from candidature of the S . W ., Bro . C . J . Axford , who , though in every

respect qualified for the chair of K . S ., and certain of election to that high office if tbe ballot bad taken the ordinary course , solicited the brethren to mark their high appreciation of the zealouB services to Freemasonry , more especially in respect of recent strenuous efforts on behalf of the Masonio Institutions , of the J . W . Bro . Sourrah , by

his unanimous election as W . M . for the ensuing year . It need hardly be said that Bro . Axford ' s single-minded desire to do honour to a truly deserving brother met with the acceptance he solicited , and he received at the hands of the brethren a cordial acknowledgment of his self-sacrifice on their behalf . Bro . Scurrah was consequently

unanimously elected W . M . The retiring Master was elected Treasurer , and Bro . Very Tyler . Broa . Harry Webb , T . E . Worrall , and W . A . Wace were appointed Auditors . The elections having concluded , Bro . Scurrah addressed the brethren , thanking them for his eleotion as W . M ., and in the very fullest possible manner

acknowledging his personal obligation to Bro . Axford , and the sense which the members of the Lodge entertained of his desire to promote their best interests . We feel compelled to say that a more pleasing incident , whether in the evidence it gave of a strong personal friendship between two worthy brethren , or of the preference of the welfare of

Freemasonry to self-aggrandisement , we have never before met with in any of our Lodges , and the circumstance is all the more worthy of record as an example which might doubtless be advantageously followed elsewhere when the surrounding circumstances are of a similar natnre . Five gentlemen were proposed for initiation , probably at

an emergency meeting , as the next regular meeting being for installation , and the W . M . elect an exceedingly popular brother , the business of that day in placing him in the chair of K . S . will probably be considered sufficient . A few matters of ordinary arrangement having been attended to , the W . M . received the hearty good wishes of

the Visitors , and tbe Lodge wa 8 olosed in harmony . Refreshments followed labour , and after the cloth had been cleared the customary Loyal and Masonic toasts were proposed and duly honoured . The W . M . finding it necessary to leave at an early hour , a practice of some W . M . 's " more hononr'd in the breach , than the observance , "

the ohair was taken by Bro . C . P . MoKay P . M ., the genial Secretary of the Lodge , under whose presidency the remaining complimentary toasts were given and received response . In replying to the toast of the Visitors Bro . James Stevens referred to the ceremonial work , and the thorough Masonic principles which had characterised the

meeting , admitting the former to have been more than usually perfect , and the incident which had resulted in the election of Bro . Scurrah aa W . M ., consequently on Bro . Axford's retirement , as worthy of brethrun connected with a Lodae bearing the revered name of that stric . upholder of true Freemasonry in all its sublime

principles , the lat : Brother Henry C . Levander . Bros . Dickey and Ross endorsed the ; : e remarks , and expressed the great gratification which they and all the Visitors had experienced from the cordial reception which had been accorded them . A very pleasant evening was spent by all present , the proceedings being enlivened by songs and recitations , and shortly before ten o ' clock the brethren separated .

HOILOWAT ' Pitts . —Sleeplessness , flatulency , acidity , nausea , and all dyspeptie indications may be speedily relieved by these famous Fills , of which large quantities are shipped to all parts of the world . The constantly increasing demands for Holloway ' s medicine proves its power over disease , and its estimation by the public . In weakness of the stomach , in diseases of the liver , and circulation

in disorders of tho system caused by cold or sluggish , no medicine is so e'Bcacious , no remedy so rapid , as these Pills , which are altogether incapable of doing mischief . By quickening diges ion they give refreshing sleep , sharpen the appetite , impart tone to the digestive organs , purify and enrich the blood , regulate the secretions , and strengthen the whole physical frame .
