To the Supreme Grand Chapter of Royal Arch Masons of England . The Committee of General Purposes beg to report that they have examined the Accounts from the 16 th January 1896 , to the 14 th April 1896 , both inclusive , which they find to be as follows : To Balance , Grand Chapter £ 1 , 008 18 5 To Balance , Unappropriated Account 209 5 8 To Subsequent Receipts 610 17 5 £ 1 , 829 1 6

By Disbursements during the Quarter £ 370 4 1 By Balance . 1 , 248 19 By Balance , Unappropriated Account 210 15 8 •£ 1 , 829 1 6 which Balances are in the Bank of England , Law Courts Branch . The Committee have likewise to report that they have received the following Petitions : —

1 st . From Companions Charles Edward Keyser as Z ., Richard Ravenor as H ., the Rev . Walter Muirhead Hope as J ., and six others for a Chapter to be attached to the Lodge of Hope , No . 574 , Newbury , to be called "The Hope Chapter , " and to meet at the Temperance Hall , Newbury , in the county of Berkshire .

2 nd . From Companions William Russell as Z ., Henry Forss as H ., John Percy White as J ., and thirteen others for a Chapter to be attached to the Lodge of Sympathy , No . 483 , Gravesend , to be called " The Chapter of Sympathy , " and to meet at the Royal Clarendon Hotel , Gravesend , in the county of Kent .

3 rd . From Companions Buckley Carr as Z ., Robert Caldwell as H ., Saml . J . Mills as J ., and nine others for a Chapter to be attached to the Lodge of Truth , No . 1458 , Manchester , to be called " The Chapter of Truth , " and to meet at the Mosley Hotel , Manchester .

4 th . Fiom Companions Joseph Bliss as Z ., George Tubb James as H ., the Rev . Oliver James Grace as J ., and seven others for a Chapter to be attached to the Wycombe Lodge , No . 1501 , High Wycombe , to be called " The Wycombe Chapter , " and to meet at the Masonic HaU , High Wycombe , in the county of Buckingham . The foregoing Petitions being regular , the Committee recommend that the prayers thereof be respectively granted .

The Committee have likewise received Memorials , with extracts of Minutes , for permission to remove the following Chapters : — " The Prince of Wales' Chapter , " No . 1916 , from the Masonic Hall , Sydenham , to the Masonic Hall , Christchurch , New Zealand . " The Chapter of Rectitude , " No . 581 , Ardwick , from the

Midland-Hotel , Ardwick , to the Mosley Hotel , Manchester . " The Hartington Chapter , " No . 916 , Eastbourne , from the Albion Hotel , to the Queen ' s Hotel , Eastbourne . The Committee being' satisfied of the reasonableness of the above requests , recommend that the removal of these Chapters be sanctioned . ( Signed ) ROBERT GREY .

VALLETORT CHAPTER , No . 557 , THE annual meeting was held on Monday , 20 th ult ., when the following were installed : Comp . R . R . Alford Z ., W . Symons H ., J . Damerel J ., C . T . Pearce S . E ., R . P . Coath S . N ., J . T . Williams Treasurer .

ST . ANNE CHAPTER , No . 970 , THE annual meeting was held at the Masonic Hall , Looe , on Tuesday , 21 st ult ., when Comp . E . Olver was installed Z ., H . Shapcott H ., E . V . Bryant J ., the ceremony being ably conducted by W . Allsford P . P . G . T ., and T . Gidley 2025 . Prior to the installation three candidates were exalted by Comp . R . Hambly .

The following donations were voted from the funds of the Chapter : — Two guineas to the Boys School , two guineas to the Girls School , and five guineas to the Cornwall Charities Association . After the formal business the Companions adjourned to the Ship Hotel , where the annual banquet was admirably served by Comp . Cook , and a pleasant evening was spent under thc presidency of Comp . E . Olver .

HORNSEY CHAPTER OF IMPROVEMENT , No . 890 . THE weekly meeting was held on Friday , 24 th ult ., at the Prince of Wales Hotel , Eastbourne Terrace , Paddington , W ., Comp . J . Cruttenden 779 Z ., J . Almond H . 1839 H ., J . Bailey P . Z . 1602 J ., H . Dehane P . Z . 890 S . E ., J . F . Perrins S . E . 1839 S . N ., J . C . Tilt P . Z . 862 Treas ., W . Hillier J . 834 P . S ., J . Wynman ( FREEMASON ' CHRONICLE ) , G . Gregory H . 862 , & o . The ceremony of exaltation was rehearsed , Comp . Wynman acting candidate . A communication was read from Comp . Dr . P . Gowlland , thanking the Companions for their sympathy with him in his illness .

ST . ANDREW LODGE , No . 34 . THE regular meeting was held at the Freemasons' Hall , Cooper Streeti Manchester , on Tuesday , the 14 th ult ., Bro . James Minshull Veal W . MAmong other members who were present were Bros . John Walker S . W ., Julius Laurisch J . W ., Sergeant Searle M . O ., A . K . Boothroyd P . M . Treasurer , E , A . Locke S . D ., Jas . Green J . D ., J . M . Sinclair P . P . G . M . O ., Joseph T . Richardson P . M . P . P . G . I . W ., Geo . A . Myers P . M . P . P . G . S . B .

The principal business of the evening was that of balloting for and advancing Bro . Michael Bateman Salt P . M . Manchester Dramatic Lodge , No . 2387 , who had been proposed by Bro . Clare Edgar Towell P . M ., and seconded by the W . M . The ceremony ol advancement was performed by the respected and veteran Bro . Richardson , in his characteristically finished manner .

A notice of motion , introduced by the W . M ., " that the meeting nights be the third Tuesdays in February , April , June , September , and November , " was successful , and in future the members will meet on the dates here specified . Bro . Allan Phillips , of the Hall , had provided a very excellent tea , to which the Brethren subsequently sat down , the proceedings terminating with the social element .

ILKESTON LODGE , No . 373 . THE annual installation was held at the Rutland Hotel , Ilkeston , on Wednesday , 22 nd tilt ., when Bro . S . Robinson was installed as W . M . by Bro . Joseph Cook .

For the first time since the consecration the Lodge was visited both by the Provincial Grand Master Bro . Woodiwiss , and his Deputy Brother E . C . Milligan . Visitors from the St . Martin ' s Lodge , Alfreton ; St . . Alban's Lodge , Nottingham ; and the Derby Lodge were also present . After the installation ceremony , which , was performed by the outgoing W . M ., the'Brethren sat down to a banquet .

KNIGHTS OF CONSTANTINOPLE . THE annual meeting of St . Aubyn Council was held at the Masonic Hall , Morice Town , when . Sir Knight A . Trout was installed Illustrious Sovereign .
