LOGIC CLUB .

THERE was another very successful meeting of this well known Club on Sunday morning , at the Cavendish Rooms , Mortimer Street , W ., a large number of members and visitors being present to participate in the closing assembly of the season . The chair was taken by Bro . Robert Manuel , the

Preceptor , who had the support of Brothers J . Percy Fitzgerald as S . W . and Master-elect , Albert G . Neville M . E . Lodge of Verity , No - 2 739 . S . W . after presentation , J . PI . Barnes S . W . Drury Lane Lodge , No . 2127 , as J . W ., Guy Repton Senior Grand Deacon as I . P . M ., Albert Craddock W . M . i'ivoli Lodge , No .

2150 as S . D ., Alexander W . Watson P . G . Std . Br . ( Bucks ) as J . D ., Plarry Nicholls P . M . and Secretary Drury Lane Lodge , No . 2127 as D . C ., George Paxton M . E . Salisbury Lodge , No . 435 as I . G ., and Edward Gatfield Sir Iiugh Myddleton Lodge , No . 1602 as Tyler .

Among the many other distinguished Brethren present were Bros . J . M . McLeod P . G . Swd . Br ., Nathan Robinson P . M . 55 , Maurice Miroy S . D . 19 , W . E . Playcock P . M . 1196 , H . G . Danby Deputy Preceptor Genesius Club , Prince Harnam Singh 2772 , C . T . Coggin I . G . 2127 , Stanley Pringle 2127 , F .

Trehawke Davies Secretary 2771 , Oliver Barnett P . M . 742 , E . L . PI . Davis I . G . 435 , G . H . Peters 2394 , J . T . Murray Organist of the Logic Club and of 2127 , C . E . Quicke P . G . S . of Works ( Kent ) , A . J . Thomas P . M . 227 , J . R . Meyrick W . M . 2146 , John

Bro . Richard Eve , Past Grand Treasurer , was prevented by indisposition from attending . 'The Brethren sent Bro . Eve a sympathetic telegram . The total attendance was 85 . The Board of Masters consisted of no less than 34 •duly Installed Brethren .

Plavmg observed due ceremony in regard to the opening , our esteemed Brother advanced the Lodge to the second degree , and then rehearsed the ceremony of installation , placing Bro . James Percy Fitzgerald , Founder and Secretary of the Club , in the chair with full ceremonial . The rendering

of the solo " Be thou faithful , " by Bro . W . R . Maxwell , was a feature of the meeting , in fact an item which fully compensated for any possible regrets either of the Brethren may have felt , for turning a back on the country on so bright a spring morning .

As time pressed Bro . Fitzgerald only invested two of his Officers , and then the esteemed Preceptor of the Club gave the three addresses , in a most scholarl y and impressive manner , the hearty Masonic applause which followed being a well deserved compliment to the worker , who certainl y appeared at his very best on this occasion ,

Logic Club.

Before Lodge was closed Bro . Manuel presented a resume of the work during the past season . Pie said they had made marked progress since they opened the season on the first Sunday of October 1899 . They then had less than one hundred members , among them being two Grand Lodge

Officers ; now they had 162 members , including eight Officers of Grand Lodge . They had among their numbers thirteen Worshipful Masters actually in the chair , and seven or eight Senior Wardens , who were extremely anxious to depose them . They had held thirty-five meetings during the session , and

except on the 24 th December last , which was known in the Club as " Oyster Sunday , " had performed one or other of the ceremonies . On eight occasions , including the meeting of that day , they had rehearsed the ceremony of installation , eight times they had worked the third degree , four times the second ,

and twelve times the first . This left two meetings to be accounted for , and one of these was the occasion of their annual visit to the Genesius , when the present S . W . and his Officers covered the Logic Club with distinction by an excellent exposition of the ritual . The other meeting was the return visit

of the members of the Genesius Club who , he might then observe , were always welcome there , either in their corporate or individual capacities . During the season they had had five Worshipful Masters in the chair for the first time in their Masonic experience , and each and all of them had discharged

that very onerous duty so effectively that he felt all the members would join with him in congratulating them thereon . Bro . Seaman carried the record of the year , he having presided on three occasions , on one of which he worked in a manner he had never known before in all his long association with the Logic

Club , for that Brother not only rendered the ceremony of the first degree , and gave the charge , but completed the work by a delivery of the lecture on the tracing board ; he certainly deserved their commendation . Then they had not been unmindful of the wants of others ; they had given five guineas to

the " Daily Telegraph " War Fund ; twenty guineas to the Fund originated by Bro . Richards , for the benefit of the loyal Brethren of the Transvaal—and he might here mention this grant was made at the early stage of the Fund ' s existence ; and ninety guineas , equally divided , to the three great

Charitable Institutions of the Order . The finances of the Club were in a satisfactory condition and well might they be , when they remembered they were managed by three such distinguished Brethren as Bro . R . D . Cummings Treasurer ; Bro . J . J . 1 homas Treasurer Charity Association ; and Bro . A . G .

Duck , who presided down stairs , and performed such good service there . Altogether they could congratulate themselves on having had a most successful year , and as an evidence of the good feeling that existed he might point to the proofs around them of the desire of the members of the Logic Club

to see it well clothed . They had had to thank Brethren on three or four occasions during the year for handsome presents , notably the carpet , which made the Lodge so much nicer in appearance , and he hoped they would consider their kindness had not been overlooked .

Bro . Fitzgerald particularly desired to call the attention of the members to the meeting of Grand Lodge to be held on 6 th June , when members would be elected for the Board of General Purposes . Their Brothers Robert Manuel and Arthur George Duck were among those nominated , and he urged the Brethren

to not only vote for them , but to canvass and exchange votes on their behalf . No doubt they would themselves be asked by other Brethren to give a vote for a particular candidate , and they should make a point to get vote for vote , thereby helping to secure the return of the Brothers he had mentioned ,

as near as possible , if not actually , at the top of the poll . Pie then spoke of the summer outing of the Club , and said that Bros . J . J . Thomas , H . Nicholls , R . D . Cummings and himself visited Plenley-on-Thames , and had made every enquiry so as to secure the success of the outing . The arrangements made

should meet with their approval , including as they did one of the most enjoyable trips to be met with anywhere . They had engaged an electric launch for the river journey , which they had fixed for Sunday , 24 th June , and would travel up from Boulter ' s Lock to Plenley , where the banquet would be held

at the Red Lion Plotel . The return fare from Paddington , to include luncheon on board the launch , and everything for the day ' s enjoyment—apart from wine at table—would be 25 s a head . They desired that the names of those who intended to be present should be sent in not later than 15 th June .

Bro . J . J . Thomas P . G . Std . Br . Treasurer of the Charities Association of the Club then made an appeal on behalf of that Association , pointing out to the older members that it would
