of the InstitutionTTonofa ' ry Secretary ' of'the Board of Stewards . The Secretary reported -. the number -of Stewards to date was 3 S 6 , and informed the meeting that H . R . H . the Duke of Connaught had fixed Tuesday , ioth July , as the day for holding

the Festival . It had--originally- been -intended to hold the Festival in conjunction with the annual meeting of the Provincial Grand Lodge-of Sussex ,-at Brighton , on that day ,. but circumstances had since arisen which" in ^ ll-pTO ± Sa " rjrirrty " wT 5 Trld prevent the conjunction of these two events .

Correspondenre-with-the-Briglrton-Ririivvay Company was read , showing that the privileges extended in , former years fajftlje return tickets ' of visitors ' - ® i- this FestivaCbeirrg available for two clays beyond the date of issue , had been withdrawn ,

and that the Railway Company proved obdurate on this point . Flaving made inquiry , the Secretary reported that the Freemasons' Tavern , Flotel Cecil , and the Crystal Palace were available for the date fixed . After considerable discussion it

was ultimately resolved tlmt H . R . H . the Duke of ^ Comiaught be requested to allow tiie Festival to be held in Lon'don . ' at the

Freemasons Tavern . A Festival Committee , consisting of the President , two Vice-Presidents , the Hon . Sec , and nine elected members , was appointed to make all arrangements-forthe ~ Festival .

THE annual athletic sports were held on Saturday . afternoon , at Wood Green , under extremely favourable coiiclitions . A capital programme * was Arranged , and , under the businesslike management of Bro . FI . R . Francombe , the various events were well contested , and afforded considerable pleasure to the

large number of spectators who had journeyed from all parts . The principal prize-takers were Owen , Flint , Bassett , Howson , Goode , Waymaii r Turner ,- Blackbumr -Stephenson , Delahaye , Cowell ,. Loxley , Mr . Crane ' s-team ( tug-of-war ) , Woodhead , and A . P . Shaw ( Old Boys' Race ) . The prizes , which were on
