- : * o :-SOUTH SAXON CHAPTER , No . 311 . rriHE installation took place at the Bear Hotel , Lewes , on Wednesday , JL 22 nd ult ., the proceedings being honoured by the presence of Lieut .-General C . W . Randolph Grand Superintendent of Sussex . The newly installed M . E . Z . Comp . J . H . Bull presided at the subsequent banquet , after which the usual Arch toasts were given , Lieutenant-General Randolph responding for that of the Superintendent of Sussex . A most enjoyable programme of vocal and instrumental music was carried out .

HOPE CHAPTER , No . 574 . rr * IHE annual installation gathering was held on Thursday , the 16 th ult ., JL in the Temperance Hall , Newbury , under the able presidency of Comp . C . E . Keyser M . E . Z . Bros . A . E . Pike and W . J . Clarke , members of the Loyal Berkshire

Lodge of Hope , having been balloted for and elected , were duly exalted , the ceremony being performed by the M . E . Z ., assisted by his Officers , after which the imposing ceremony of installing the Principals and other Officers of the Chapter for the ensuing year was proceeded with , the chief appointments being Comp . R . Havener Z ., Rev . W . M . Hope H ., S . Knight J . ^ H . S . Hanington S . E ., W . H . Belcher S . N ., and E . Head Treasurer .

At the close of the business , the newly installed M . E . Z ., on behalf of the Chapter , presented the retiring M . E . Z . Comp . Keyser with a handsome gold jewel , in recognition , not only of the efficient services he had rendered during the past year , but also of the Masonic liberality he had shown as the chief Founder of this Chapter . The presentation was acknowledged in graceful and appropriate terms .

The proceedings at thc Hall were succeeded by a banquet , provided by Mrs . Hamlen , at the Queen ' s Hotel , when the customary toasts were proposed and honoured .

ST . PETER LODGE , No . 187 . THE installation meeting was held at Tiverton , on Wednesday , 15 th ult ., when Bro . P . Pyle was installed into the chair by Bro . Ellerton , and regularly appointed the assistant Officers for the year .

Wallace Erskine ' s popular company . This play comes with a reputation for charming music , original dances , and genuinely funny comedy . Following this , on Monday , llth inst ., there will appear , for six

nights , Mr . Edward Lockwood ' s musical comedy company in the popular success from the Prince of Wales' Theatre , " La Poupee , " with exact replica of the original scenery . On Monday , 18 th , for six nights , Mr . William Greet's Company in Mr . Wilson Barrett ' s popular play , ' •The Sign of tbe Cross . " On Monday , 25 th , for six nights , Messrs . Paterson and Macdona ' s Company in " The Gay Parisionne , " the very successful musical comedy from the Duke of York's Theatre .

BRO . ERNEST SINCLAIR , of the firm of E . Sinclair and Co ., 46 Kennington Bond , U . K ., is maker of the " Artiste " Cycles , and also acts as Agent for the " Waverley" Bicycle—described as America ' s favourite—and we are sure he will bc pleased to hear from any of his Masonic Brethren who may be looking for a good mount , either for tho close of the current year , when many an enjoyable ride will bo possible ; or early for tbe coming season , when we anticipate cycling will be as popular as ever—and even more so .

" THE HOUSE ( Horace Cox , sixpence monthly ) , a magazine of Domestic Art , in its October issue covers an exceptionally wide field . Leading off with a lengthy illustrated review of " The Arts and Crafts " Exhibition at Lancaster—with an admirable full-page portrait of the Countess of Bective , the president of the Council—it touches upon almost every phase of applied art . Lovers of needlework are appealed to in a chapter of Ecclesiastical Embroidery ; the amateur worker will find much
