M ., who in introducing that of tho Provincial Officers , stated that it would bo a red letter , or rather a purple letter day in the history of the Architect Lodge . Ho explained tho object of tho gathering , which , as previously stated , was to do hononr to a very worthy Mason , viz .,

Brother Councillor Bradshaw , upon his receiving Provincial honours . The toast was responded to by Bros . Goodacre , Bradshaw , Chadwick , and Simpson . In proposing the health of the newly-raised brother , the W . M . ' said that the ordeal throngh whioh he and Bro . Saoro had passed that evening had been peculiarly trying to both . He ( the speaker ) , had

only latterly become acquainted with the Saore family , but what he had heard concerning their brother was of an entirely satisfactory character , and he felt sure thab he was one of those who would put into practice tho grand principles which had jnst been tanght . Bro . Sacre in response said he was deeply flattarod by being raised to tho position of a Master Mason in the presence of such distinguished

visitors . He felt the honour very much , for he had been told that it fell to the lot of a very few to bo so privileged . Bro . Nail , in proposing the health of the Visiting Brethren , said be tick it as a great hononr that he should be singled ont to perform so important a duty , but he hoped he would do it with the samo enthusiasm , heartiness and sincerity as might have been infused into it by

the Worshipful Master himself . In reverting to tha distinguished Officers who had favoured the Lodge with their presence , Bro . Nail said that Bro . Wylie , who was next in importance to Earl Lathom , had ( though he did not claim a title ) won numerous honours by sheer hard work , and he was deservedly respected by all . Ho concluded a very admirable speech by extolling the merits of Bro . Bradshaw ,

saying tbat a better , truer , and more faithful Ma ; on did not exist . The toast was responded to by Bros . Lloyd , Thomas , Scholfiald aad Smartt . Bro . Morrison S . W . proposed the health of the W . M ., saying that the brethren fully echoed ail that had been uttered in his praise . Bro . Beever had onco said that this being tho majority year of the

Lodge , ho was constituted its father , and as it was . tho duty of a father to set a good example , ho had done so , his actions all through having had an inspiriting effect , and whatever had been expressed with regard to his good actions Bro . Beaver fully deserved . The lattar , who , upon rising to respond , was received with enthusiasm , said that after Bro . Nail ' s masterly effort in tbe " Master's

song things looked rather misty . His health having beon toasted so often there was little that was new left for him to say , and for tho reason ho had just advanced ho contemplated asking the Grand Master of England to consider him tho healthiest Mason in this country . He thanked tha brethren for all their kindnesses to him during hia year of office , and concluded by saying tbat his wishes towards them

wonld be best expressed in tho words of that well-known theatrical toast , " May you all live as long as you like , and havo what you like as long as you live !" Other toasts followed , tho whole being relieved by songs from Bros . Thomas , Smith , Nail , Rushton and Shaw , recitations from Bro . Dottie , and fche fairy bells by Bro . Beever W . M .

CONCOED LODGE , No . 1534 THE regnlar meeting of this Lodge was held at Chester Bank , Prestwiob , on Thursday , 16 th November . Bro . W . H . Norton W . M .

presided . The minntes of the previous Lodge meeting having been read and confirmed , Bro . T . P . Briggs , who had answered the usual questions in a satisfactory manner , was entrusted with a test of merit and

retired for preparation . Ho waa afterwards re-admitted and raised to the sublime degree by bis Brother , the Immediate Past Master , the working tools being explained by Bro . Done J . W . Bro . Joseph Rostern was thon passed to tho second degree by Bro . Norton W . M ., the working tools in this instance boing also explained

by Bro . Done . The election of Bro . Hothersall as Charity Representative concluded the business of the Lodge , and the brethren retired to dinner , which was followed by the usual festive board . For the first time since the consecration of tho Lodge , there was an ab ;; 'nce of candidate , and the W . M . taking advantage of this oiroatnsta :, r- < opsned in all the degrees and gavo tho traditional history of tho third . Bro . Schofield ia an expert in Freemasonry , and an exceedingly careful exponent of it . Ho possisaos withal the art of pleasing his auditors , whilst putting thorn upon good terms with
