WALTHAMSTOW LODGE , No . 2472 . C ONSIDERING that the meeting of this Lodge , which was held last Saturday , at the Masonio Hall , Walthamstow , was only the second after its consecration , it augurs , well for its future prosperity that three candidates and two joining members were accepted , bringing the number of members nearly up to the prescribed limit . The W . M . Bro . William Shurmur presided , nnd was supported by the following
brethren : —William Harriss S . W ., A . J . Staroy acting J . W . vice D . H . MoGowan who was abroad , S . H . Baker P . M . Treasurer , Samuel Herbert Secretary , Wm . Gower J . D ., Jas . Percy Triokett 2374 , S . C . Bateman 1707 , T . J . T . Horsey 1861 , Rev . J . R . Buchanan 2099 , C . H . Bestow 2374 , and a large number of members . Letters of apology for absence wore received from Bros . Dr . Ralph Gooding P . G . D ., Charles Belton P . G . D . C ., and J . H . Matthews P . G . S . B .
The Lodge having been opened ( ho minutes of the meeting held on 23 rd September were read and confirmed . The ballot wrs taken and proved unanimous in favour cf Messrs . George H . Perke , Joseph E . P . Thompson , and Thos . Wm . Stroud as candidates , and of Bros . G . W . Holmes and R . H . Tongue as joining members , who accordingly took their seats in the Lodge . The candidates being in attendance
were regularly initiated into the mysteries and privileges of the Craft according to ancient custom . Bros . N . Forteecae , W . A . Gower , I . Inkpen , T . H . Hunt and Leo Taylor having proved their proficiency were passed to the second degree . Both ceremonies were worked by Bro . Shurmur in a masterly manner , the lactam on the second tracing board being also delivered . A word of praise must also be given to
the Officers , who did credit to the tuition of their able Preceptor . The next business was to elect the Master , Treasurer and Tyler for the ensuing year commencing at the annual festival on tbe fourth Saturday in March next . Bro . Wm . Harriss S . W . was unanimously elected as W . M . and expressed his willingness to serve ; Bro . S . H Baker was re-appointed Treasurer ; and the show of hands proved to
be in favour of Bro . Marx Gross es Tyler . Upon the proposition of Bro . Baker , seconded by Bro . Fortescue , a Past Muster ' sjnwel was voted to Bro . Sharmur for his service ? , and also to Bro . J . H . Wildash the I . P . M . This concluded the business of the Lodge , the W . M . received the
congratulations of the visitors , and the company adjourned to the banquet room , were a very pleasant evening was spent . Reference was made by several speakers to the candidature of Bro . Shnrmur for the post of Grand Treasurer , and all expressed hope for his success at the March Communication of Grand Lodge .
Sympathy Lodgo of Instruction , No . 483 . —The first annual supper of this Lodge of Instraction , whioh works under the banner of the Lodge of Sympathy , No . 483 , took place at the Star Hotel , Gravesend , on Monday evening , wheu a goodly number of brethren assembled to spend what proved to be a very pleasant evening . Bro . Forss P . M . P . Z ., the able instructor , took the chair , and was supported by Bros . R . J . Beamish P . M ., E . W . Robins P . M ., J . P .
Moore P . M ., Thoa . Lygo , George Smith , T . W . Galler , Wm . Hawker , C . Matthews Secretary , J . N . Willis , Spurr , Hubbard , & o . The substantial good old English supper was provided by Bro . Watt , who waa most attentive to the wants of his guests throughout the ovenvnp . Songs and recitations followed , and the company separated at a late hour . It was stated by Bro . Moore that a sub-Committee of the mother Lodge had that afternoon paid a visit to London , and had purchased a handsome set of Masonic furniture at a cost of £ 100 .
All Saints' Lodge of Instruction , No . 1716 . —The annual ¦ upper was held in the Boardroom of the Poplar Board of Works on Thursday of last week . The ohair was filled by Bro . C . R . Allen Preceptor , and a large number were present , amongst them Bro . Ayres Moore W . M ., Raymond I . P . M ., and Farnfield , Coleman ,
Harland and Kirk P . Ms . of the mother Lodge . An excellent repast was served by Bro . Best Folkes , and the usual Loyal and Masonic toasts were given . This Lodge of Instruction meets every Friday at the Town Hall , Poplar , at eight o'clock , and any brother will be most cordially welcomed .

THE annual meeting was held at the Royal Pavilion , Brighton , on the 23 rd inst , when Comp . T . Clark P . Z . was installed M . E . Z . for the ensning year . On the closing of the Chapter the Companions sat down to an elegant banquet , supplied by Messrs . Booth and Sons , the company present including the Provincial Grand Superintendent , Lieutenant-General C . W . Randolph . The customary Royal Arch toasts were honoured .

THE members of the Brotherly Love Lodge , feeling for some years the desirability of securing for therasalves such accommodation as a Masonio HaU would provide , have during the past year entered into an agreement for the purchase of a piece of land from Mr . E . Vining , situated in Hendford , between his offices and the Baptist Manse—a site that is very suitable for tho purpose , and ia in a good
position . A company has been consequently formed , wifch a capital of £ 2 , 000 in £ 5 shares , and has a provisional board of directors , on which some of the brethren have consented to act , with Bro . B . Whitby , W . M . of the Lodge , as their secretary . Already a number of brethren have signified their intention to tako shares , amongst
thorn , being : —The Provincial Graud Master of Somerset ( Viscount Dungarvan ) , and bis Deputy Bro . R . 0 . Else P . G . D . of England , Bro . G . W . Gawler ( ex-Mayor of the borough ) , and Bro . G . W . Danford Thomas ( coroner for Middlesex ) . Upwards of £ 300 has been
promised , and it is believed tbat with the assistance of the many brethren who are unattached to the local Lodge , but yet are residents in Yeovil , a Masonio Hall will be erected tbat will prove worthy alike of the town and of the Fraternity .

rnHE second annnal meeting in connection with the Tyne Masonio 1 Hall Company ( Limited ) was held on Tuesday evening in the Maeonio Hall , Wallseud . Mr . Geo . Blair occupied the ohair , and there was a good muster of the brethren . Tbe Hon . Secretary presented the report , which indicated that the share capital of the company was £ 2 , 500 , constituted of shares of £ 1
each , 998 of whioh bad been taken and were fully paid np . The mortgage loan was £ 1 , 200 , and np to tbe 3 lst October the sum of £ 86 5 s had been received for rental , £ 4 17 s 6 d for sundry return ? , with a balance carried forward from the previous year of £ 28 5 s 3 d . After meeting all expenses there was a net profit of £ 60 18 a 8 d , ont of
which tbe directors , recommend a dividend of 5 per cent ., free of income tax , leaving the sum of £ 11 0 s 8 d to be carried forward to next year ' s acconnt . Messrs . Geo . A . Allan , Wm . Bell , and W . Cawthorn wero re-elected directors , and votes of thanks to the chairman cordially awarded .
