T . Bryan Tyler . Afc tho close of the formal proceedings in Lodge , the brethren adjourned to the hall below , where an excellent banquet waa served by Bro . Pearce , the Steward of the Freemasons' Club . The W . M . presided , and was supported by a number of Provincial Officers and Installed Masters . A long list of Masonio toasts was heartily reoeived by the company , the speeohes being agreeably interspersed

with songs , by Bros . G . South , F . Sanders P . M ., & c , sang to accompaniments by Bro . Thomas Hunter . Tho health of the new W . M . was proposed by Bro . Woodrow I . P . M ., who referred in the highest terms to the zeal displayed by Bro . Wiokens in filling all the minor offices of the Lodge , until he had attained the highest honour his brethren could confer upon him . The selection of Bro . Wiokens for the chair of K . S . was fully justified by his punctuality and ability , and he ( the

speaker ) was sure he would not only do credit to the Lodge , bat advance the interests of Freemasonry in general . The W . M ., in responding , undertook to do his best to disharge the important duties with whioh he had been entrusted to the best of his ability , and said he was sure he should receive hearty and loyal assistance at the hands of his Officers . The Tyler's toast brought the proceedings to a olose shortly before midnight .

BOROUGH OF GREENWICH LODGE , No . 2332

THIS prosperous young Lodge held its regular meeting on Wednesday , 30 th ult ., the W . M . Bro . T . W . Boord , M . P ., "P . G . D , presiding . Four brethren were raised by the W . M ., who then resigned the ohair to the acting I . P . M . Bro . Bateman , who passed

four brethren , and subsequently initiated five candidatep , working the initiation ceremony twice over , to oblige a late comer . At a subsequent sapper the usual Loyal and Masonic toasts were dnly honoured and a very enjoyable evoning spent .

On Monday , the 28 th ult ., this Lodge gave an invitation concert in their Masonio rooms , which were filled with an enthusiastic and delighted audience , the programme provided supplying a real musical treat . The artistes comprised Misses Bertha Colnaghi and Marie Hooton , Messrs . C . Etherington Smith and Albert Hubbard .

with Mr . W . J . Kipps , F . C . O ., at the piano and , Mr . A . E . Kipps at the organ . Bro . S . J . Gore gave two recitations in able fashion j Miss Bertha Colnaghi sang " The Star of Bethlehem " in magnifioent style , and 8 ab 3 equently "When the Heart is Young , " with " Venetian Song " ns an encore . These latter efforts were admirably contrasted , and

showed this charming singer's power both in sustained and exquisitely soft passages . Miss Hooton possesses a remarkably pure oontralto voice , whioh she showed to advantage in "The Lost Chord , " and "The old and the yonng Marie , " with "Coming thro' tho Rye" as an encore . All the items on the programme were admirably rendered , but especial mention must

be made of duets , "Friendship" by Misses Colnaghi and Hooton , and " Excelsior" by Messrs . Smith and Hubbard . Bro . Bateman D . C . arranged and conducted tbe proceeding ? , and judging by tho success achieved it is likely the pleasant experiment will be soon repeated ; ' indeed , it is an example that might well be followed by other Lodges , and would doubtless prove highly acceptable to the families and friends of the members of our Order .

received the merited attention of all present . After the usual loyal toasts had been duly honoured , Bro . Esling P . M . 1321 ( Vice-President ) , in a very eulogistic manner , proposed the health of the President , to whom not only this Lodge was deeply indebted for his able , energetic and valaable services , but the Craft in general . Bro . Price , in responding , expressed his heartfelt thanks for the very

cordial manner in whioh the last toast had been proposed and received , particularly so as he knew he had only done his duty , as every Mason should do . The number of friends around him was extremely gratifying , as he was sure these mutual gatherings tended to strengthen the bonds of friendship , brotherly love and sympathy . He then proposed the health of the Vice-President , whose able

services to himself and the Lodge were invaluable . This having neon most heartily received and replied to , the President thanked tho Secretary and Committee for their energetic assistance ; to them 'ho success of the evening was mainly due . He also expressed deep regret for the unavoidable absence of their worthy Preceptor , Bro .

Membership in any organised order of society involves a certain degree of responsibility . No individual member of such an instil a . tion can occupy so humble a position as to bo entirely exempt from some share of tho responsibility for its success or failure . There are certain duties required of every one , and ho who fails to perform them , or is negligent and careless in their peiformance at the right time , is to that extent derelict in his duty . Nowhere does this prin . ciple apply more forcibly than in a Masonic body .
