Lancashire , desirous of testifying their regard for yon and thoir appreciation of your services as Deputy Provincial Grand Master , have combined to address you on the occasion of the completion of your fiftieth year as a Mason and a continuous member of the Lodge in whioh you first saw the light of Masonry .
They especially wish to record their pleasure at seeing you in your place at this meeting held in your native town . Many of the brethren have heard with extreme regret thafc you have been prevented from going amongst them in consequence of recent illness so often as they would hare liked to see yon , but they
earnestly trust that you may yet be spared by the Great Architect of the Universe for somo years to come . They desire more particularly to notice the kindness , conrtesy , and attention with whioh you ' ¦ < ve at all times met the brethren when your health enabled you to uo so , and many times have they listened
with pleasure to the kindly advice invariably given , whether in the Lodge or elsewhere . In this thoy moro especially allude to tho seventeen years you have acted as Deputy to our esteemed Provincial Grand Master , Col . Le Gendre N . Starkie , in whose words addressed to the brethren
at your installation they cannot bnt recall tbe anticipations then expressed , whioh have beeu so fully realised by yonr conduct and caro iu the office then conferred . Tho Lodges aud Brethren of this large Province ask you also to

The brethren felt on tho day of consecration , when you were prevented from being present , that it was a privilege under the circumstances to have Bro . Mellor amongst them , nnd his name is kept fresh from year to year . They desire to express their
best wishes to Bro . Mellor on his attaining his 50 th Masonio . year , aud they feel sure it will be pleasing to know that the Zion Lodge purpose placing a fitting record of tho ovonfc npon their books . Worship ful Sir and Brother , —I know not how to find words sufficiently adequate to tnank you for the valuable and beautiful presentation you have made to mo on the occasion of my jubilee year in our ancient , honourable , and noble order . I can assure you that when I have had any
honour in the Craft conferred upon me I have always endeavoured faithfully and to tho best of my ability to discharge the duties appertaining to the office with fervency and zeal , and it is the consciousness of this that makes me more fully appreciate your kindness . Brethren , whenever
I look on the testimonial you have this day presented to me through our R . W . P . G . M . I shall ever think of the happy hours I have spent in many of our Masonic Lodges , and I
hope and trust that this token of your affection towards me may be handed down to my posterity as a memorial of the respect I was held in by my Masonic brethren of Lancashire .
After some formal business had been transacted , Provincial Grand Lodge was closed . The customary banquet was afterwards held in the same building , and the usual toast list was gone throngh .
