REPORTS OF MEETINGS .

We shall be pleased to receive particulars of Masonic meetings for insertion in our columns , and where desired will endeavour to send a representative , to report Lodge or other proceedings .

CEAET : PEOYINCIAL

LIVERPOOL DRAMATIC LODGE , No . 1609 . RESUMING "labour" after " refreshment , " in the shape of a two months' holiday , the brethren connected with this , the premier Lodge of the Province of West Lancashire , met in strong force at the Masonic Hall , Hope-street , Liverpool , on Tuesday afternoon , 23 rd ult ., for the transaction of business of an important nature , the agenda items comprising the bestowment of the three degrees , the election of Worshipful Master , Treasurer , Auditors , and Committees , which are necessary to the good government of the Lodge .

Bro . H . Round W . M . was in his place as the chief of the Lodge , and he was supported by a strong array of Past Mastere , Officers and other Members , while there was a good representation of visitors from the various parts of the world , one Brother hailing from Old Calabar .

Mr . Henry Jennion ( artist ) and Mr . Frank Lynne ( comedian ) were impressively admitted into the Order by the W . M ., two novitiates were passed to the F . C . degree by Bro . G . D . Clarence , and Bro . H . Round W . M . most effectively concluded his year's labour in the chair by raising two Brethren to the M . M . degree .

Subsequently the unanimous and cordial vote of the Brethren was given to Bro . Eustace Baxter S . W ., on his election as Worshipful Master for the coming year—a fitting recognition of valuable services , the highest honour in the power of the Brethren to confer on any member being feelingly acknowledged by the W . M .-elect .

A like unanimity and cordiality was shown in the re-election of Bro . Savage P . Prov . G . Treasurer to the important and onerous office of Treasurer of the Dramatic , an office which he has filled with a faithfulness and zeal which has brought the Lodge into a financial position of soundness which has not been secured before during its twenty-two years' of existence .

Bros . J . Cantor P . M . P . P . G . O . and W . W . Sandbrook P . M . P . P . G . D . were appointed Auditors ; the W . M ., S . W ., J . W ., and Past Masters Cantor , Peak , and Heard , Members of tbe Committee of the Fund of Benevolence ; Bros . J . B . Mackenzie , L . Peake , and H . Heard to serve on the Masonic Hall Committee ; and Bros . H . Round , Peake , and Heard were selected as the Committee of Inquiry as to proposed candidates , & c .

After the transaction of further business , the Brethren adjourned fco banquet , which was succeeded by various special toasts , including that of the retiring W . M ., received with " three times three , " and a capital musical and variety programme , given by Bros . C . Aspinall , Eaton Batty , W . Savage , W . W . Sanderson , H . Heard , J . J . Hewson , H . C . Arnold , and W . Hudson .

OBEDIENCE LODGE , No . 1753 . A VERY large number of Brethren met on the 29 th ult ., at Okehampton , when Bro . Geo . G . Gibson , of Exeter , was installed as Worshipful Master for the ensuing year . It was a unique gathering in the history of Freemasonry in Okehampton , not only because of the large number

present at the ceremony , and at the installation banquet , but also from the fact that the Lodge had attained its majority , Bro . Gibson being the twentyfirst Master . Also for the first time the retiring Master Bro . Fred Edwards installed his successor , being assisted , by his own desire , by two Past Masters of the Lodge , Bros . J . C . Pierce P . P . A . G . D . C . and Chas . Piper P . G . D . D . C .

The installation took placo at the Church Room , which had been appropriately fitted up for the occasion , and lent to the Lodge by the Vicar , Bro . Rev . F . Wilberforce Saulez Chaplain Prov . G . Chaplain . After his installation the W . M . invested the Officers for the ensuing year .

The installation banquet , which has usually been held at the White Hart Hotel , was , on account of the large attendance , held at the Market Hall immediately opposite the Hotel . Flowers and plants both for the dining tables and Lodge Room had been lent in profusion by Alderman

William Bray , while additional furniture for the Lodge was lent by Alderman Henry Geen . The catering for the banquet reflected much credit upon the resources of the White Hart Hotel , and the large company greatly appreciated the efforts of Mr . and Mrs . Heywood . The Worshipful Master presided at the banquet , and had an enthusiastic reception .

Bro . Williams Preceptor worked the first section of the Lecture . The Lodge was opened in the second and third degrees , and closed down in regular form . Brother Catling was elected W . M . for next meeting . The perfect working of Past Master Catling being so well known we hope to see a good number of Brethren present to support him . '

as candidate . The charge was given in a faultless manner , and great attention was shown by the Brethren . Lodge was called off and on , and then opened in the second degree , when Bro . Gumming answered the usual questions and was entrusted . The Lodge was opened in the third degree and the ceremony of raising was rehearsed , Bro . Gumming acting as candidate . Bro . F . M . Ridlev was elected W . M . for tho next meeting .

We are glad to notice how well this Lodge of Instruction is patronised in the ordinary way . Any members of the Craft attending may rest assured they will hear the ritual rendered in a most satisfactory manner , uud . er the preeeptorship of Bro . R . H . Williams , who is well known at many Lodges of Instruction in the west end of London .

SOUTHERN STAR LODGE , No . 1158 . ON Thursday , at 8 o'clock , the Brethren assembled to recommence their Masonic duties for the' winter season , at their new and more accommodating rooms , at the house of Bro . William Rugg , the Ship Hotel , Kennington Road , S . E ., when there were present : Bros . C . Randal ] , W . M .

The Lodge being duly formed , the minutes of the last meeting were read and confirmed , when , by the desire of the W . M ., Bro . Johnson Preceptor , assisted by the Brethren , worked the first section of the lecture . The W . M . then rehearsed the ceremony of initiation , for which Bro . Davis offered himself as candidate . Bro . Holland . W . M . 720 concluded the ceremony by giving the charge of the degree in a most perfect manner . Bro . Whiting P . M . worked the second section of the lecture , and the excellent Preceptor the third .

Bros . A . Collins P . M ., H . Palmer , Jackson and Reap were elected members , which . compliment they duly acknowledged . Bro . Johnson proposed that Bro . Rugg the host should be elected an hon . member , which was seconded by Bro . A . Darch P . M . and unanimously agreed to , the compliment being highly appreciated by Bro . Rugg , who thanked the Brethren , and wished the Southern Star Lodge of Instruction every prosperity .

Bro . Body , who is well known amongst the Craft , was unanimously elected W . M . for next meeting . The Southern Star Lodge of Instruction meets every Thursday , at 8 o'clock , and we can say with confidence that Bro . Johnson is a most patient Preceptor , and efficient to teach every Brother the Masonic ritual and working .

CHISWICK LODGE , No . 2012 . ON Saturday , 27 th ult ., at the Windsor Castle Hotel , Hammersmith , Bros . W . T . Ridgway 1275 W . M ., F . Craggs S . W ., H . J . Cousens J . W ., M . Speigel Acting Treas ., R . Josey Sec , Arthur Williams P . M . 834 2090 Preceptor , Robert Reid S . D ., L . Powell J . D ., J . H . Gumming I . G ., W . Hide Steward , W . Herring , A . K . Ross , W . Handover , and others .

Bro . Handover answered the questions leading to the 2 nd Degree , was entrusted , and the ceremony of passing was rehearsed . Lodge resumed to the 1 st degree , and called off and on . The W . M . then vacated the chair in favour of Bro . Robert Reid S . W . and W . M .-elect of the Star Lodge , No . 1275 , who will be installed at the Ship Hotel , Greenwich , at the next meeting . Bro . Reid rehearsed the investiture of Officers in a most creditable manner . The W . M . resumed the Chair and fche 2 nd Section of the 1 st Lecture was worked by the Brethren , under the direction of the Preceptor .

The proposition that the S . W . Bro . F . Craggs P . BI . 834 and Secretary of several Lodges of Instruction in the neighbourhood , should occupy the W . M . ' s chair at the next meeting was carried by acclamation .

ROYAL VICTORIAN JUBILEE LODGE , No . 2184 . ( Late the Terriers . ) AT the usual meeting on Wednesday afternoon , at three o ' clock , at the Dover Castle , Westminster Bridge Road , Bro . Sinclair acted as W . M ., with C . Randall S . W ., B . Cohen J . W ., A . Darch P . M . Prec , J . Wynman S . D ., W . Lonuen J . D ., W . J . Newstead I . G ., T . Holland W . M . 720 , J . Voight , and others .

The Lodge was opened to the second degree , and Bro . Lonnen was examined and entrusted . Lodge was advanced to the third degree , and the ceremony of raising was rehearsed , after which the W . M . vacated the chair in favour of Bro . Holland , who gave the charge . The W . M . resumed the Lodge to the first degree , and the ceremony of initiation was rehearsed , Bro . Newstead being the candidate .

Bro . Lonnen was elected a member , and Bro . Randall to preside at the next meeting . Bro . Sinclair P . M . was unanimously elected Assistant Preceptor of the Lodge , which compliment was duly acknowledged .

CLARENCE AND AVONDALE LODGE , No . 2411 . ON Tuesday , at the Masonic Hall , Leytonstone , tho meeting was under the presidency of Bro . Basil Stewart Preceptor of tho Lodge , the principal business being to make arrangements for the ensuing season . It was unanimously decided that the opening night of the Lodge , on Tuesday , 27 th inst ., should be associated with the annual supper at the above Hall , and that the members be invited to bring other Masonic friends . Bro .

Stewart was elected as Chairman for the occasion , Bro . S . Fennell W . M . of the Mother Lodge Vice-Chairman , and Bro . Box Secretary , whilst the musical arrangements were lefc to Bro . Sidney Vernon , Professor of Music , of Dalkeith Villa , Leytonstone . Bro . Gernon and other Brethren were elected on the Committee of Management , the preliminaries being all arranged most satisfactorily .

Bro . Stewart , with his usual charitable disposition , announced that a Brother of the Lodge was in distress . Hardly had he finished , when Bro . 3 . Barnes proposed that a collection be made at once , to which the Brethren most liberally responded , the sum of £ 3 3 s being collected to help the Brother over his difficulties . A hearty vote of thanks was accorded to the Chairman and suitably acknowledged .
