DEVON .

LAST year the Provincial Grand Chapter for the Province of Devon was held at Exeter , on Friday , 22 nd November . This year the honour fell to Plymouth , and on Monday , 28 th ult . , the usual annual meeting was held at the Freemasons ' Hall , Princess Square . The Chapter was convened by Comp . Walter Goddard Eogers Prov . G . H ., and was attended by a goodly number of Companions .

After the confirmation of the minutes , the reports of the P : G . S . E . and P . G . Treas ., who presented favourable statistics , were adopted . The election of Comp . Geo : Dunsterville P . Z . 189 as Treasurer gave great satisfaction . Comps . J . E . Lord P . Z . and Cornish P . Z . were appointed Auditors .

The appointment of the following Officers concluded the business : ^ -

Comp . Wl G . Eogers , who presided , expressed the regret of all * at the enforced resignation , through ill-health , of ' their esteemed President Lord Ebrington . He spoke of the pleasant recollections of the past under Lord Ebrington ' s ruling , and hoped they would- continue when a successor was appointed to the high office of 1 st Grand Principal for the county of Devon .

Comp . G . C . Davie , who supported Comp . W . G . Eogers , endorsed * the-remarks that had fallen from the President of the meeting ; . The customary congratulations concluded the business .

North Wales.

NORTH WALES .

A GEAND Chapter of the province was held at Carnarvon on the 24 th ult ., and was largely attended , under the presidency of Colonel the Hon . W . E . Sackville-West Provincial Grand . Superintendent . The Chapter having been opened statements were produced by the Treasurer , Audit Committee ,

and * General Committee , and were all adopted . Eesolutions wereLpassed upon the reading of communications touching the business of the Province , and a vote of condolence , was passed with the family of the late Comp . E . Jones , of Towyn , Provincial Grand Officer .

It was announced that the next annual Provincial Grand Chapter would be held at Bangor . The officers for the year were appointed . At the close of the Chapter a banquet was held at the Eoyal Sportsman Hotel , where a numerous company sat down .

The same day a convocation of the Segontium Chapter was held , when Bro . Tom Armstrong and George Frederick Jackson were exalted .

SOUTH SAXON CHAPTER , No . 311 . A CONVOCATION was held at Freemasons' Hall , Lewes , on Wednesday , 23 rd ult ., when the ceremony of installing the Principals for the ensuing year was performed : Comp . R . Weston Z ., J . H . Bull H ., and J . Peters J .

At the conclusion of the meeting the Brethren dined together at the Boar Hotel .

HOPE CHAPTER , No . 574 . A MEETING was held on the 17 th ult ., at Newbury , under the presidency of Comp . C . E . Keyser M . E . Z . Several members of the Loyal Berkshire Lodge of Hope were balloted for and elected as members .

DERBY CHAPTER , No . 1055 . rriHE regular meeting was held at Chester Bank , Prestwich , on Thursday , JL the 24 th ult ., Companion John Wardle Z . After the reading and confirmation of minutes of the last convocation Bro . James Kershaw ^

Concord Lodge , No . 1534 , was successfully ballotted for and exalted . The Treasurer ' s statement and Auditors' report having been submitted , Comp . John Marshall P . G . P . S ., acting as Installing Principal , duly installed the following Officers for the ensuing financial year , viz ., Comps . J . W . Hallam Z ., W . B . Midgley H ., and P . W . Maxwell J .

The other Officers were appointed and invested , after which the Companions adjoured to a very excellent supper . The loyal toasts were submitted and honoured , Comp . R . Hothersall proposing that of the candidate , who responded . Musical and other items were contributed'by Comps . J . W . Hallam , J . Pollitt P . Z ., S . P . Simons P . Z ., and Edward Roberts .

their humble congratulations on the fact that the Great Overseer of the Universe has granted to Her Majesty a greater length of days of rule than has been granted * to any other English Monarch , and pray that she may be long spared to reign over her loyal subjects in peace and prosperity . —Frederick Eobertson Sewell , Colonel , Worshipful Deputy Provincial Grand Master ;" — " Yorkshire Daily Post . PORCHESTER LODGE , No ; 27 . THE Lodge resumed its meetings at the Temperance Hall , Newbury , on * Thursday , 17 th ult ., under the presidency of Bro . 0 . E . Keyser W . M . ' . Past Grand Deacon of England . The business transaoted' included the election of Past Master Belcher as Treasurer .

JUBILEE AT WORCESTER .

THE members of the Semper Jndeiis . Lodge , No . OS'S , nave this week oeen celebrating their jubilee . The Lodge invited the Provincial Grand Lodge to hold its annual meeting under its banner ; and this wish having been acceded to , the members of No . 529 thought that it would be a good opportunity to invite their members and friends to assist in the celebration festivities . Invitations were therefore sent out to members of the three Lodges in the neighbourhood —Nos . 280 , 529 , and 1204 ( Malvern ) ---to

the present Officers of the Provincial Grand Lodge , and the principal Officers of all Lodges in the Province , a large number of whom accepted , including Provincial Grand Master A . P . Godson ,-M . P ., Mrs . - Godson , and a party of friends , and Deputy Grand Master Ottley , Mrs . Ottley , and party . The proceedings commenced on Tuesday evening with , a conversazione at * the Guildhall , the assembly room at which had been handsomely decorated with palms and choice plants by Mr . J . H . White . There was a concert , in which

Mr . J . W . Austin ' s band , Mrs . Glover-Eaton , and Mr . D'Arcyde Ferrers took part . Subsequently there was dancing , which was kept up for several hours . The Charter of the Lodge , dated 4 th July 1846 , was granted by the Earl of Zetland the then Grand Master , and Lord Worsley , M . P ., Deputy Grand Master . Mr . Joseph Bennett , a Past Master of the old Lodge , was invited to become the first Worshipful Master , and he accepted , with Mr .

James McMillan first Senior Warden , and Mr . Gosthng Junior Warden . The Lodge is numerically the strongest in the Province , and one conspicuously to tbe front in its subscriptions and donations to the Masonio Charities . In connection with the Lodge a Royal Arch Chapter was founded and consecrated in April 1890 , and although the youngest is numerically the strongest Chapter in the Province . — " Birmingham Daily Post , " 24 th September .
