Under the circumstances , after the very nice language of the W . M . about him and his performance of tho ceremony of Installation , all he could say was that tho W . He again thanked the Brethren for tho handsome jewel they had voted him . Tho other usual toasts were afterwards honoured and responded to , and the Brethren separated .

— : o : — ANGEL LODGE , No . 51 . THE members celebrated their 159 th anniversary on Thursday , 25 th ult ., at Colchester , when there was a large gathering to witness tho Installation of Bro . Claude E . Egerton-Green I . P . M . 2477 and Provincial Grand Treasurer as Worshipful Master for the ensuing year . The Lodge was opened by Brother Harold Francis I . P . M . P . P . G . Stewd ., in the unavoidable absence of the Worshipful Master
Bro . C . F . Wright , and the minutes of the last meeting having been confirmed , the arrival of the Deputy Provincial Grand Master Bro . Fred . A . Philbrick , Q . C ., G . Reg . ( Recorder of Colchester ) was announced and he was admitted to the Lodge , escorted by a goodly array of Present and Past Provincial Grand Officers , the honours due to his rank in the Craft being heartily accorded him .
The Deputy then took the Chair , and performed the installation ceremony with the impressiveness for which he is so distinguished . Bro . Joseph Grimes P . M . P . P . G . S . of Wks . was re-elected to represent the Lodge on tho Essex Provincial Charity Committee .
At the conclusion of the business the new W . M . proposed a hearty vote of thanks to the D . P . G . M . for his kindness in attending and performing the ceremony of the day , which he esteemed a great compliment to himself and to the Lodge . The motion having been seconded by the S . W . was carried by acclamation .
Bro . Philbrick , in response , thanked the W . M . and Brethren for their kind reception of him , and said it gave him unspeakable p leasure to be present and see the prosperity of the Lodge . They had just heard a speaker at the Oyster Feast remark that the looker-on often saw most of the game , and when one came to the Lodge , as it were , on these birthday occasions , one could judge of how the Lodge was progressing . It had been a particular pleasure
to him to instal a friend and Brother who would so worthily occupy the chair as Bro . Egerton-Green ; and whilst every Mason looked upon the Lodge as his home , no place could ever seem more like a home to himself than the Angel Lodge in his native town . The Lodge was shortly afterwards closed , and between fifty and sixty Brethren subsequently dined together at the Cups Hotel , the repast being well served as usual by Bro . and Mrs . Brown . o o o
CONSTITUTIONAL LODGE , No . 294 . A LARGE number of the members assembled at the Masonic Hall , Register Square , Beverley , on the 25 th ult ., being summoned to meet the Right Hon . the Earl of Londesborough I . P . M . and Bro . J . L . Toole , the comedian , who , with his celebrated company , were at the Grand Theatre , in Hull . Further interest
centered in the gathering as it had been arranged to seize the opportunity to initiate Mr . Willis Mills , the town clerk , as a member of the Lodge , and also to present to the Worshipful Master Brother David Morley , a tea service of solid silver , in commemoration of his recent wedding .
Much disappointment was caused by the receipt of a communication to the effect that Brother Toole was unable to be present through indisposition , and also a telegram from tho Earl of
Londesborough of a similar nature . The Lodge having been opened in the usual form , the ceremony of initiating Mr . Willis Mills was performed by the Worshipful Master Bro . M . M . Westerby P . M ., J . R . Lane S . W . and R . Pape J . W . The presentation to the Worshipful Master then took place , Bro . Lane , as the Senior Warden , handing over the tea service to Bro . Morley on behalf of the Officers and Biethren . In doing so
he remarked that every member had freely and cheerfully contributed , and had been anxious to show appreciation , respect and esteem for Brother Morley . They trusted his life and his partner ' s would be long , happy and prosperous .
Bro . David Morley was heartily cheered on rising , and said it was impossible for him to express the depth or the sincerity of his thanks . He had had many handsome presents , but certainly not
one which he and his wife would value mote than the gift from his Masonic Brethren . It was a red letter year of his life , and he should never forget their many kindnesses . The service bore the following inscription : —
