SAMARITAN LODGE , No . 286 . THE annual festival was held at the house of Bro . W . Jackson , Green Man Hotel , Bacup , on the 19 th ult ., there being a large attendance of Brethren . After the installation and the subsequent dinner the usual Masonic
toasts were honoured , and a presentation of a handsome illuminated autograph album was made to Bro . Henry Taylor P . M . P . P . G . St . B ., for his Valuable services to the Lodge and the Order generally . The presentation was made by Bro . James Shuttleworth P . M . Treasurer , and Bro . Taylor suitably replied .
UNANIMITY LODGE , No . 287 . THE Brethren held their annual festival at the White Lion Hotel , Stockport , on Wednesday , 4 th ult . Bro . Charles Dawson Treasurer submitted his accounts for the year , which , on the motion of Bro . A . J . Hewett , seconded by Bro . D . Walmsley ,
the Auditors , were unanimously adopted . Brother James Cookson P . M . P . P . G . Tr . and Sec . took the chair , and , assisted by the Past Masters of the Lodge , installed Brother James Alfred Cookson , the recent S . W . of the Lodge , Worshipful Master for the ensuing year , the ceremony being impressive throughout .
Bro . Dawson gave notice of motions to vote ten guineas to the Royal Masonic Benevolent Institution , and five guineas to the Cheshire Masonic Educational Institution , both of which were duly seconded . In the course of business letters were read from Bro . Lord Egerton , from Brother Alan de Tatton Egerton , and from other distinguished Brethren , regretting their inability to attend .
Later the usual banquet was held , the newly- installed W . M . presiding , and there was a large attendance of visiting Brethren . A most interesting , instructive , and enjoyable evening was spent , not
the least pleasing part of which was that devoted to the presentation of a Past Master ' s jewel , with suitable inscription , to Bro . Jervis R . Hudson , a ceremony which the W . M . discharged with due dignity and brotherly feeling , expressing the hope that Bro . Hudson might very long be spared to wear it .

M . P . P . G . D . C . as W . M ., and the Officers were invested . The Deputy Prov . G . M . Bro . Col . Sewell was present , and a number of visitors from Lodges in the district .
A capital repast was afterwards partaken of , and a long list of toasts honoured .

PERSEVERANCE LODGE , No . 345 . THE festival of St . John was held at the Lodge Room , Old Bull Hotel , Blackburn , on Thursday , 19 th ult . The installation of Brother J . B . Margerison was performed by Brother F . Thomas P . M . P . P . S . G . W . East Lancashire , and the investiture of the Officers was gone through bv Bro . R . GornallP . M .
There was an unusally large attendance of Brethren from the different Lodges in the town and district , as well as Brethren of the Perseverance Lodge itself . A sumptuous banquet was afterwards served by Mrs . Mitchell , in the large room of the Hotel , being presided over by the W . M .
DORIC LODGE , No . 362 . AT the regular meeting , held at Grantham , Brother Rayner S . W . was unanimously elected Master for the ensuing year . Brother Rayner is superintendent of the Great Northern Railway at Nottingham . o o O MENTURIA LODGE . No . 418 .
THE annual meeting was held at the Masonic Hall , Hanley , on Tuesday , 17 th ult ., when Bro . John Allerton was installed W . M . for the ensuing year . There was a very large and influential gathering of members of the Lodge and visitors , among them the Deputy Provincial Grand Master Colonel J . A . Bindley P . G . D . England .
After the Lodge proceedings the Brethren adjourned to the Town Hall to dinner , for which excellent preparation had been made by Bro . Monro and his efficient staff . The usual Loyal and Masonic toasts were honoured , and songs were given by various Brethren , accompanied by Bro . Edwards . The comfort of the visitors was secured by the courteous Stewards , Bros . Elphinstone and Hall .

The installation of Bro . Walter Sheer as Worshipful Master was performed by the retiring Master Bro . A . Platts , and Past Master Wilkinson Greenwood . Afterwards the Brethren sat down to a repast prepared by Mr . Edwin Pattison , of the Fleece Hotel .
CAMBRIAN LODGE , No . 464 . ON Tuesday , 24 th ult ., the members held their election meeting in the Masonic Hall , Haverfordwest . Bro . Charles Mathias , of Lamphey Court , presided . Dri Brigstocke was chosen as Master . The installation will take place on the 29 th inst .
