Ho considered it a very pleasing dufcy to be called npon to propose the health of fche W . M . All he
conld wish was that he might pass as happy a year as thafc he jusfc gone throngh . The toast was well received , and after a song the W . M . replied . He tendered his thanks . As he said last mouth , when the brethren were kind enough to elecfc him to the office of Master , he hoped their confidence wonld nofc be misplaced . He should do his utmost to perform the work of the office creditably , aud in a
manner that should meet the approval of the brethren . The working of the Burgoyne Lodge had for many years pasfc been performed creditably , and he hoped to be ablo to maintain fche reputation the Lodge had acquired . When he w"S initiated , by Bro . P . M . Field , he made up his mind to try for the office of Worshipfnl Master . Nothing wonld be left undone on his part to render the brethren
happy , not only in Lodge bnt afterwards . He hoped he might be as successful as his predecessors in the office of W . M . He then proposed the health of the I . P . M . He felt this was a toast that would be gratifying to every brother in the room . If one man more than another deserved his health proposed , it was their I . P . M . The way in which he had performed his work was highly creditable . He had
worked throughout the past year , without needing any aid from his Pasfc Masters . Before putting this toast to the meeting , the W . M . had a very pleasing duty , one of the mosfc pleasing he had had to perform since he bad been a member of this Lodge , and that was to present to his predecessor the Past Master ' s jewel that had been voted by the brethen . He must not accept ifc for its intrinsic
value alone , bnt rather receive it as a memento of the good feeling that was felt by each brother towards their I . P . M . The W . M . hoped his predecessor might be among them for many years , to add lustre to the Burgoyne Lodge . The I . P . M . tendered his thanks , both for the way in which tbe toasfc had been received , ancl also for tho jewel which the brethren had presented him , he shonld always wear the gift
with pride . He felt the brethren all knew how much ho had the interests of the Burgoyne Lodgo at heart ; he could assure them he should never fail to further its interests whenever ho had thn opportunity . The Master then gave the toast of tho Initiates . This toast was one always well received in a Masonic Lodge , bnt particularly so when they had to welcome four such brethren as those admitted
to the Burgoyne Lodge that night . Tho Master felt the Lodge had every reason to be proud of them , and ho trusted they wonld each become worthy members of tlio Lodge , and at the samo time good Masons , for ho was a'wnys of opinion that it was impossible for any one to be a good Mason and at the same time abaci man . Tn conclusion he conld but express a hope that the brethren admitted that
night might reap advantage from thn step they had taken . Each of the initiates replied . Bro . Phillips hoped he and his brother initiates mighfc do nil that was expected of them . Bro . It- was not in many Lodges such a number of brethren who had passed the chair were present as was the case thafc night ; the Master felt
