festive board the usual Loyal and Masonio toasts were given and responded to in a most hearty manner . The harmony of tho evening was greatly euhanced by the contributions of many talented artistes . The minutes of the meeting held 23 rd January having been read and confirmed , Brother Beever delivered the " Anoient Charge after Initiation , " whioh had been

previously omitted on account of pressure of work . From the eminent position which Brother Beever occupies as W . M . of the Architect Ledge , No . 1375 , it will be inferred that ou this occasion ho was quite equal to the task which ho undertook , and Brother Nagib Fiani , to whom the charge was especially addressed , listened with rapt attcntiou to a very fine rendering of this excellent

exhortation . Brother Fiani having signified his intention to qualify for tho degree of a F . C ., he was subjected to the usual test , and afterwards duly passed by the W . M ., who received the assistance of Bro . Brabner S . W . in the presentation of the working tools . Brother Brabner subsequently gave a most unique and original exegesis of the peculiar objects of research in the second degree ,

whioh exposition was afterwards facetiously termed by Bro . Lilly as a Mahatma innovation . At the feativ * board which followed , the orthodox Loyal and Masonio toasts were duly honoured . In responding on behalf of the Provinoial Officers , Bro . J . Crompton Wood reverted to the Masonio Charities , and expressed a hope that the members would not relax their effortB in deing something at once for

those excellent institutions . Brother Brabner S . W ., who proposed tho health of the newly-passed Brother , said that those who had passed through all the degrees of Freemasonry , knew the interesting position in which the candidate found himself , being only midway in tho ceremonies . After paying a very excellent tribute to Brother Fiani , the speaker conoluded an admirable Bpeeoh by saying that

though the Brother differed from them in nationality , iu language , and in thought , yet ho was one with them in Masonio feeling , and personally he had great pleasure 'in asking them to respond heartily to tho toast whioh it was his pleasure to submit to them . Brother Fiani , in reply , said that ho was much obliged to them for their kindness , which sentiment he had expressed before . The two

ceremonies through which he had passed were splendid ones , and had made him so delighted with Freemasonry that he would endeavour to make himself worthy of all that had been done for him . Tho W . M . proposed the toast of the visiting brethren , and took the opportunity of extending to them a hearty greeting . He referred to tho paucity of attendance , which was an unusual

circumstance in connection with the Minnehaha Lodge . Iu speaking of the address given by the S . W ., he characterised it as an innovation from which all must havo derived a great amount of pleasure . It was certainly a welcome change from the parrot-like way in which ceremonies were often performed : it would expand the minds of the brethren , and give them something to think about . Othor toasts followed , the proceedings being diversified by songs , & c , given by

Brothers Wollaston , Harrop , Smith , Eoberts , and Hamnett , the latter contributing a ventriloquial Bketcb , which was highly diverting . As an instance of the popularity which tho W . M . enjoys , we may state that Brother Wollaston was last week the subject of a lengthy biography , the same being accompanied by an " excellent portrait , which appeared in ono of the Manchester weekly publioa . tions .
