Astronomy And Freemasonry.
disclosed in astronomical science , certain lessons and principles of Freemasonry will stand out in greater prominence and seem to present , perhaps , an urgency of appeal such as was not previously recognised . Ono of tho plainest lessons taught by Astronomy is the
governing force of law and order among the planets . The celestial orbs aro bound up in such a scheme of interdependent movement as allows their relative positions to be forecast ages ahead . Invisible bonds hold them to their forms and movements ; to certain times of coming and
going ; to prescribed limits of change , and to a beautiful order from which there is never the slightest deviation . We never doubt the truth declared in God ' s Word : " The ordinances of heaven stand fast . " Day after day finds the sun running his course without fail . Night after night
finds the moon going her historic round . Tho stars are always in the places where tho skilled astronomer looks for them . Thue , most clearly and impressively , the astronomical re dm is an object lesson iu the things that
relate to law and order . In this teaching and illustration it accords with tho great , distinguishing principles of Freemasonry , and may bo said to stamp thorn with its approva l .
Members of tho Masonic Fraternity should be attentive to the lessons read to them out of tho skies as well as from books . So will come to them an increased appreciation of the worth of emblems and ceremonies employed by the Craft ; so will their thoughts be uplifted to the Infinite
Creator and Ruler , whoso power and wisdom are thus signified , and more of reveience to Him—more of the purpose of obedience to His moral law—will come into their hearts and have influence upon their lives . —Freemasons' Repository .
