brethren . After tho minutes of the Quarterly Communication of 7 th December 1892 had been read aud confirmed , tbe Earl of Mount Edgcumbe moved , ou behalf of the Prince of Wales , the following notices of motion : —
1 . That this Grand Lodge do vote tho sum of two hundred gnineas , from the Fund of General Pnrposes , in alleviation of the distressuf Masonio Brethren in St . John ' s , Nuwfonndland , occasioned by the disastrous Km in that town , and
that the above snni be pxid to His Excellency Sir foronce O'B'ipn , K . C . M . G ., Past Grand D-. cmi , Governor of Newfnundlaud , for distribution at the Uireuiion of tho District Grand Muster .
2 . That this Grand Lodge , sympathising with the sufferings caused by the recent earthquakes in the Island of Zante , do vote the snm of one hundred guineas , from the Fund of
General Pnrposes , in alleviation of the distress occasioned thereby , aud that the above sum be paid to the ConsnU Geneial of Greece to the credit of the Fund now being ruised by him for the relief of the distress in the Island .
These notices were seconded by Bro . W . W . B . Beach , M . P ., and carried . The next business was the election of tbo M . W . Grand Master . On the motion of Bro . Thomas Lean Wilkinson , seconded by Bro . Walter Hughes , His Royal Highness the Prince of Wales was re-elected for the nineteenth year
. Bro . Samuel Cochrane P . M . Lodge of Fidelity , No . 3 , London , was then elected to the position of Grand Treasurer , after which the recommendations of the Board
of Benevolence , the report of the Board of General Purposes , and tbe Grand Lodge Auditors' accounts ot receipts and disbursements during tbo year 1892 wero passed . Shortly after Grand Lodge was closed .

rl'Ulbi Provincial Grand Master of Herefordshire , Sir JL Joseph R . Bailoy , Bart ., held a Provincial Graud Lodgo at tho Cora Exchange , Ros- * , on Monday , the 0 th ult ., under the banner of the Vitruvian Lodge . A Craft Lodgo having beeu opeucd by the Worshipful Master of
the Vitruvian Lodge , tho Provincial Grand Master , accompanied by his Provincial Grand Officers , entered the Lodge , when he was received with the customary honours , aud a similar compliment having been accorded to the Deputy Provincial Grand Master . Bro . George Henry
Piper , the Provincial Grand Master opened Provincial Graud Lodge in due form . Tbe muster roll of tho Lodges was called with the following result : —Members present : — Palladiau , No . 120 , 17 ; Vitruvian , No . 338 , 27 ; Eastuor , No . 751 , 8 ; Boyal Edward , No . 802 , 2 ; Arrow , No . 2240 , 2 ; total , 50 . Tho aceouuts of tho Provincial Grand
Treasurer , Bro . H . C . Beddoe , which had been duly audited , and which wore of a satisfactory character , were received aud adopted . The Provincial Grand Master having expressed his intention of appointing Bro . Beddoe to tho office of Principal Grand Senior Warden , Bro . J . E .
S . Hewitt was elected Treasurer for the ensuing year . The W . M . of each of the Lodges in the Province produced his Lodge report of the position of the respective Lod « es , from which it appeared that the relative strength was as follows : — Subscribing members : —Palladiau , Hereford

Association , from which it appeared that since August 1878 , when the Association was formed , it has remitted tho following sums to the Masouic Institutions : —To the Boys' School £ ' 304 10 s , Girls' School £ 207 15 s , tho
Royal Masouic Benevolent Institution : Malo fund £ 131 5 s , Female £ 130 10 s , making a total of £ 840 . Tho Provincial Grand Master then appointed and invested his Officers for the ensuing year .

Tho Provincial Grand Master stated his intention of holding his next Provincial Grand Lodge at Ledbury , under the banner of tho Eastuor Lodge , No . 751 . In tho course of tho business of tho afternoon , Bro . J . E . S . Hewitt , in an exhaustive speech , moved the following resolution of "which ho had given proper notice : —
That the R . W . Provincial Grand Master be respectfully requested to appoint a committee to consider the position of the Province with respect to the Masonio Charities , and to report . This was seconded by Bro . Thomas Matthews , and Bro . Beddoo , while assenting to the appointment of the
committee , yet reserved his judgment as to any change in the present moclo of collecting aud distributing funds . The motion was carried unanimously , and Sir Joseph Bailey intimated tbat a committee would be appointed in accordance with the request contained iu the resolution .
Bro . W . Earle , having at this Lodge retired from the position of Provincial Grand Secretary , Bro . G . H ; Piper D . P . G . M . proposed that a Past Secretary ' s jewel , together with the thanks of the Provincial Grand Lodge :, be presented to him in rccoguitiou oE the conspicuous ability ,
tact , and courtesy with which he had for ten yeai * s fulfilled the duties of that office . The proposition was seconded b y Bro . Hewitt , who said that Bro . Earle , by his untiring exertions iu the cause of Masonic Charity , had wiped away the stigma which formerly attached to the Province
for its lack of liberality , and had so carried out his duties as Secretary that his successors had an admirable example . The proposition having been carried , Sir Joseph Bailey presented to Bro . Earle a handsome jewel , suitably engraved , iiinl expressed the regret with which he now reluctantly severed his official connection with that brother . He alrfo
tendered to Bro . Earle his personal thanks for the valuable aid he had always giveu to him . Biv . Earle , in reply , thanked Sir Joseph Bailey , the proposer , the seconder , and the brethren gcuerally , for this additional evidence of their Masouic good feeling towards himself , and expressed
the pleasure it gave him to know that in retiring from his former office , tho duties of which were to him a labour of love , he should retain the m ; . uy friendships it had beeu his good fortune , throughout his office , to make during the last ten years .
An excellent banquet at the Royal Hotel , with the customary Loyal and Masonic toasts , closed a pleasant o-utherinr / .
