Annual Fete, Boys' School, Wood Green.

ANNUAL FETE , BOYS' SCHOOL , WOOD GREEN .

HONOURS were fairly and appropriately divided so far as tbe presidency of the proceedings on the occasions of the visits of the Stewards to the two Institutions for Boys and Girls was concerned . Miss Fowler , as Lady Mayoress , gracefully discharged the duties of dispenser of honours to the Girls , and on the 20 th ult . the Lord Mayor , Bro . E . N . Fowler . M . P ., undertook a similar office

on the part of the Boys . Bro . Binckes , the able and undaunted Secretary of the Institution , welcomed the many guests who were present . The hall in which they assembled , he said , although not complete , was so far advanced as to be made available for the occasion , and would ultimately form a valuable addition to the

School , He desired to recognise the kindness of the Lord Mayor in presiding that day , and he was sure that all present would join him in thanking Brother Fowler for fiuding time , amidst his multifarious duties , to come among them . Bro . Morris , M . A ., LL . D ., ( Head Master ) referred to tbe education of tho boys , which he said was

intended to secure their physical as well as intellectual development . Tho follow ' ng programme gives the name ^ of the successful pupils , the prizes that were awarded , and the entertainment that had beeu prepared for the pleasure of the visitors . It is pleasant to be able to say that tho whole passed off most successfully . The Lord Mayor

shook each prize winner by the hand , and in his remarks he expressed approval of the work done , and of the labours of the Head Master and Committee of the Institution . A sound education wns given to the boys , aa might be gathered from the fact that out of 16 candidates sent np for the Cambridge Local Examination last

December all had passed—12 of them with honours . He concluded with a few words of erconragement to those who had not been successful in winning prizes , but who who had learned the lessons of industry and perseverance . On the motion of Bro . Bowyer , a vote of thanks w ; is accorded to Bro . Fowler for presiding . The Lord Mayor

acknowledged the compliment , and took tho opportunity of proposing a hearty vote of thanks to Bro . Morris for tho able manner in which he had discharged the duties of Head Master . The compliment was well deserved and generously welcomed . The vote having been acknowledged , and the Lord Mayor having to leave , Bro . Plunketf , tho Treasurer , presided over the rest of the proceedings .
