Centenary Celebration Of The Amity Lodge, No. 283.

CENTENARY CELEBRATION OF THE AMITY LODGE , No . 283 .

ON Wednesday evening , the 24 th nit ., the Centenary of thia Lodge waa commemorated by a banqnet , held in the Public Hall , Hasliiigden . Tha hall bad been beautifully decorated for the occasion . The staircase waa curtained off and carpeted . The assembly room was divided by the temporary erection of a screen composed of curtains , relieved with scarlet damask , and red , white

and bine flags , and surmounted with triplets of bannerettes . Ab the platform end of the room a apace waa reaerved for dancing . The floor was covered with holland , with a broad border of green baize , and au ample supply of chairs for thoae who wished to rest or promenade between the dances , and on tbe aide of the screen facing

that part of the room were hung portraits of the Past Masters of the Amity Lodge , and alao of Col . Le Gendre N . Starkie R . W . Prov . Grand Master , and tha late Mr . Stephen Blair Prov . Graud Maater of East Lancashire . Tho platform waa used for tho purposes of an orchestra , where Messrs . Howarth and Warburton ' s Quadrille Band

played for dancing ; while on the wall overlooking the platform waa hung a large silk banner bearing a likeness of Her Majesty the Queen . At the opposite end of the room tha space waa utilised for the banquet , tho caterer for which was Mrs . Yates , of the Grey Maro Hotel , Regent-street . The tables were conveniently arranged , and

well filled by tho brethren aud visiting friends of tho Amity Lodgo , with their tviv- ; 3 and sweethearts ; and it is bufc duo to Mrs . Yatea to say that tbo way the banquet waa prepared aud served relleoted tho utmost credit upon tho hostess . Tho presence of ladiea waa quite au innovation , bnfc thia waa highly appreciated ; v 3 a graceful feature ,

and no doubt will be repeated on tuture similar occasions . Among the Officoia pri-scab were the following : —Bros . Harling , Freeman , Boutherst , Worah , Spencer , Sutcliffe , Ilatner . Fletcher , Bradshaw , Mills , Greenwood , Barnes , Taylor , and Nuttall ; and nf brethren of tbo Lodge aud visiting brethren Bros . Stallon , Baxter , Holt , Bury ,
