THE Quarterly Convocation of Supreme Grand Chapter of Royal Arch Masons of England waa held on Wednesday evening at Freemasons' Hall . Lieut .-Col . Townley Caldwell Grand Superintendent of Cambridgeshire presided as M . E . Z ., Comp . Gerard Noel Money , C . B ., Grand Superintendent of Surrey as
H ., and Comp . Thomas Eenn as J . Comp . Robert Grey was re-invested as President of the Committee of General Purposes . Graud Chapter adopted the recommendations of the
Committee as given in the FEEEMASON ' CHBONICLE last week , with the exception that on a further recommendation they remitted to the Committee the case of
Chapter No . 454 :. Comp . C . N . M'Intyre North M . E . Z . 1275 rose and said ; Most Excellent , since our last meeting the expectations of the nation have been gratified by an event which His Royal Highness the Duke of York has , with unaffected manly pride , described as " the birth of our
little son . It seems but yesterday since the Princess Mary of Cambridge was a bonnie lass full of fun and good humour ; and as a Volunteer who was paraded in Hyde Park to receive the Princess Alexandra , I well remember the flash of pride and gratification which passed down the ranks . when we saw our Prince ' s lovely
mate , and we rightly regarded her smiling face as an omen of good for the future . Some thirty years have passed , and the affectionate loyalty we felt for Her Most Gracious Majesty has been strengthened by the vicissitudes of life until the hopes ancl aspirations of the members of our Royal Family and of the peoples of our
mighty empire are like unto the strings of an iEolian harp—vibrating in unison with every breath of heaven , sometimes vibrating with the breath of sympathy ,
sometimes responding to the wail of sorrow , sometimes re-echoing ( as on the present occasion ) to . the sound of joy . Most Excellent , it needs no formal resolution on our part as Royal Arch Masons to express the pride and
gratification we feel at the happy event ; bound by our mystic tie to His Royal Highness the Grand Z . we are , in the words of the poet" One in our griefs , our affections an a ' . " We sympathise with the pride Her Most Gracious Majesty has iu descendants ; we rejoice at the gratification of their Royal Highnesses the grandparents at the birth of the infant Prince ; and for the young couple who are just entering life with all its responsibilities we trust that the Great Architect of the Universe will in his
goodness increase their contentment , lighten their sorrows , and so guard their little son that he may become a true Lewis , a joy to them in his youth , a stay in his manhood , and a comfort to them in their old age .
