A SPECIAL meeting of the Governors and Subscribers was held on the 30 th ult ., at the Freemasons' Ball * Gaudy Street , Exeter , to elect two candidates on the Fund . Bro . W . J . Hughan P . G . D . England was elected Chairman ,

and he congratulated the Subscribers on the facfc that they wero able to meet under such very favourable circumstances . Ho knew something of the various Masonic Institutions , and he waa satisfied tbat none were better or more

economically managed than the Devon Masonio Educational Fund . From its start up to the present time its success had been steady and continuous , and it must be a great gratification to the brethren who started tho Institution to

see how successful their labours had been . If the funds permitted he should like to see a larger sum voted for the advancement in life of the children after they had received their education . It was desirable , of course , to have a

good balance in hand , but he did not believe in hoarding up large sums of money for the benefit of posterity , and while fchey had large sums in hand they were not , in his opinion , justified in refusing assistance to any deserving

cases thafc came before them . If the brethren would only rally round the Institution and give ifc a liberal and generous support , there need be no limit to the good thafc ifc might do .

As the result of the voting , the son of a deceased member of the Jordan Lodge , No . 1402 , Torquay , and tho son of a deceased brother of the Obedience Lodgo , No . 1753 , Okobampton , were elected .
