This being ended the Lodge was resumed to the first degree , and the W . M ., with the assistance of the Brethren , worked the first , and Bro . Butterworth the second section of the lecture . Bro . A . Child 1326 and Bro . G . Burton Harringay Lodge were elected members .

Bro . Hill proposed that a hearty vote of thanks be recorded on the minutes , for the able manner in which the W . Bl . had fulfilled the duties of the chair for the first time in the Lodge . The compliment was acknowledged . Bro . G . H . Paine will preside as W . M . to-day ( Saturday ) . Arrangements are being made to have a Biasonic Musical entertainment , to 'be held in the large Biasonic Hall at the Hotel , on Saturday , 25 th inst ., under the direction of Bro . J . Pockleton P . BL of the Confidence Lodge , No . 193 , would rehearse the installation ceremony in this Lodge , and there was an exceptionally good attendance on Blondhy , when he essayed the task , several members of the Confidence Lodge being among those present . The meeting was hold at the usual hour of threo

CITADEL LODGE , No . 1897 . AT the Farleigh Hotol , Amhurst Road , on Friday , 28 fch ult ., Bro . U . B . Ladler presided as W . M . At the close of the Lodge a meeting of the Charities Association was held , the President and Treasurer Bro . F . Dunstan P . BL in the chair . Six ballots were taken , the successful members being Bros . Wallis , Ladler , Dunstan , Calley , Wallis , and Weeden .

Ifc was decided that the Duke of Connaught Lodge of Instruction be invited to visit the Lodge one Blonday in January . The sum of £ 1 5 s 6 d was subscribed by members present for the widows and orphans of our soldiers in South Africa .

The Loyal Commercial Lodge , No . 2720 , Cardiff , has contributed £ 11 3 s for the relief of the widows and orphans , wives and children of the Welsh soldiers in South Africa , per Sergeant-Major Murphy .

H . R . H . the Duke of Connaught visited Hastings on Thursday , and presided at the annual meeting of the Provincial Grand Lodge of Sussex . We shall give a report of the proceedings in our next issue .

What is described as an innovation m West Australian Freemasonry occurred at the installation meeting of the Beaconsfield Lodge , No . 2635 , ladies being invited to participate in the banquet and social proceedings . The company numbered about 150 .

The Centenary of tbe Phcenix Lodge , No . 94 , was celebrated at Sunderland , on Wednesday , 1 st inst . Bro . J . B . Todd P . P . G . S . B . gave a historical account of the Lodge ,

and presented to the W . M . the Centenary Warrant granted by Grand Lodge . It was agreed to present a Centenary jewel to Bro . J . Riseborough , who was Master of the Lodge in 1863 , and was present at the Centenary celebration .

We do not approve of the three degrees being conferred the same evening , even if it is intended as a compliment to so distinguished a personage as Rear Admiral Schley , but it appears that nearly a thousand American members were

present at a recent meeting at Washington , when the gallant Admiral was so honoured , and that their enthusiasm towards their country's hero was most marked . The new Brother expressed his gratification at becoming a member of the

Craft , and afterwards held a reception of his Brother Masons —all of which savours very much of making Freemasonry play a second place in public affairs , with no advantage or benefit to our ancient Institution .

Ifc was decided that the Duke of Connaught Lodge of Instruction be invited to visit the Lodge one Blonday in January . The sum of £ 1 5 s 6 d was subscribed by members present for the widows and orphans of our soldiers in South Africa .

The Loyal Commercial Lodge , No . 2720 , Cardiff , has contributed £ 11 3 s for the relief of the widows and orphans , wives and children of the Welsh soldiers in South Africa , per Sergeant-Major Murphy .

H . R . H . the Duke of Connaught visited Hastings on Thursday , and presided at the annual meeting of the Provincial Grand Lodge of Sussex . We shall give a report of the proceedings in our next issue .

What is described as an innovation m West Australian Freemasonry occurred at the installation meeting of the Beaconsfield Lodge , No . 2635 , ladies being invited to participate in the banquet and social proceedings . The company numbered about 150 .

The Centenary of tbe Phcenix Lodge , No . 94 , was celebrated at Sunderland , on Wednesday , 1 st inst . Bro . J . B . Todd P . P . G . S . B . gave a historical account of the Lodge ,

and presented to the W . M . the Centenary Warrant granted by Grand Lodge . It was agreed to present a Centenary jewel to Bro . J . Riseborough , who was Master of the Lodge in 1863 , and was present at the Centenary celebration .

We do not approve of the three degrees being conferred the same evening , even if it is intended as a compliment to so distinguished a personage as Rear Admiral Schley , but it appears that nearly a thousand American members were

present at a recent meeting at Washington , when the gallant Admiral was so honoured , and that their enthusiasm towards their country's hero was most marked . The new Brother expressed his gratification at becoming a member of the

Craft , and afterwards held a reception of his Brother Masons —all of which savours very much of making Freemasonry play a second place in public affairs , with no advantage or benefit to our ancient Institution .
