Instruction.

The ball was opened during the supper with a hearty toast by Past Master Bennewitz to Bro . Woodrow , which vvas given in a most cordial manner and very heartily received . After supper the Chairman gave the Loyal toasts . Bro . Simeons Secretary had much pleasure to propose the health of tbe Chairman , the able Preceptor of the Lodge . He was a hard worker , and

what he did he carried but with true Masonic feeling . Through his great assistance they were one of the strongest Lodges of Instruction . When they started they had only six members , and now with a strong muster they were iu a good financial position . He asked the members to drink the health of the Chairman and prosperity to the Woodrow Lodge of Instruction , to which toast the Brethren heartily attended .

Bro . Woodrow tendered his thanks for the very good wishes that had been expressed , and also for the hearty reception of the toast . It was quite true what the worthy Secretary had said as to the Lodge starting with only six members , and it was formed quite by accident , some Brethren having asked him to give them a little instruction , which he vvas quite willing to do , but they required a room . They found one , but after a little while they left , and were fortunate enough to meet Bro . Rudderforth , who offered the

magnificent quarters in which thev were now located . He was pleased to say they were comfortable there , and Bro . Rudderforth was not only the host but their Treasurer also , and what he did he was sure was done with a true Masonic feeling and done to perfection , as witness the beautiful supper he had served that evening . In conclusion lie said that any Brother who joined the Lodge might be sure of a hearty welcome , while , personally , he should be pleased to afford them all the instruction that lay in his power . Again he sincerely thanked fchem for the toast .

The toast of the Secretary Bro . Simeons was next given . The members all knew he was heart and soul in Freemasonry , and really they felt they could not do without him in their Lodge . It was four years since that he first came amongst them , and they had come to be very proud of him , as he was not alone a good Mason but an excellent Secretary . He vvas but a young Mason , it was true , but already he had made himself a Vice-President of four different Masonic Charity Funds , and that alone showed what sort of a Mason he was . The toast met a most hearty reception .

The Secretary , on rising , received quite an ovation . He tendered his hearty thanks to the Chairman and Brethren . He really did not think he had so many friends as had rallied round him that day , and he could not find words to properly thank them for their appreciation of his efforts . He often regretted ho had not joined tho Craft earlier . He was very proud of his position as Secretary of the Woodrow Lodge , and so lon " g as he gave satisfaction he hoped to retain that position in the Lodge .

The Chairman now rose and paid a well deserved compliment to the host Brother Rudderforth , who , be said , had provided an excellent supper , and in many other ways had worked for tbe advantage of the Lodge . He was an excellent Treasurer and side by side with their worthy Secretary did much for tho welfare and advancement of the Lodge and its members .

Bro . Rudderforth thanked the W . M . for his very kind remarks , and was glad that the supper he provided had given satisfaction ; he was also pleased to see the Brethren enjoying themselves so much . As Host and Treasurer of tho Lodge he assured the company he would do everything in his power for the welfare of the Woodrow Lodge of Instruction . Once more the health of the Chairman was drunk , the toast being brought forward by Bro . Rudderforth .

Other toasts followed , which brought the anniversary banquet to a very pleasant termination . During the evening some excellent songs , & c , were given , those who contributed being Misses Ida and Dorothy Rudderforth , Bros . Simeons , Delevanti , Morris , Rudderforth , Thomas , Warwick , and others .
