— : o : — PILGRIMS LODGE , No . 772 . THE annual meeting was held at the George Hotel , Glastonbury , on the 25 th ult ., when Bro . Rev . H . L . Barnwell S . W ., was installed in the chair by the D . P . G . M . Bro . Else P . G . D . England . There was a good attendance of members and visitors , and the ceremony of installation was impressively performed .

After the meeting the banquet was held at the George Hotel , where a really splendid spread was provided by the new proprietors . The W . M . presided and the usual toast list was gone through .

O O O SONDES LODGE , No . 996 . A LARGE number of the members and other brethren assembled at the Masonic Hall , Dereham , on the 24 th ult ., to witness the installation of Bro . H . J . Barnaby P . P . G . C , among the visitors being Bro . Hamon Le Strange Deputy Prov . G . M .

The ceremony of installation was ably performed by the retiring Master Bro . J . Green , and the various charges were given in an effective manner by Bros . Hamon Le Strange , W . B . A . Goddard , and J . H . Skinner . The Worshipful Master appointed and invested his Officers .

A banquet was subsequently held . In response to the toast of the Officers of Grand Lodge Bro . Hamon Le Strange referred in eloquent and feeling terms to the sad bereavement that had befallen the M . W . Pro Grand Master the Earl of Lathom .

O O o UNITED BROTHERS LODGE , No . 1009 . THE installation of Bro . William Stevenson as W . M : took , place at Portsmouth , there being a large attendance . The installation ceremony was performed bv the W . M' . Bro . G . Adams , to whom was presented a- Past Master ' s jewel . The Organist was presented with a jewel for his services during the past twelve months .

o o o TYRIAN LODGE , No . lllO . THE installation meeting-took place on Monday , 29 th ult ., at the Gildredge Hotel , Eastbourne , when Bro . A . A . Oakden was _ elevated to the chair . Subsequently a banquet was . served , the Worshipful Master presiding . The usual toasts were honoured , interspersed with a musical programme .

o o o HAMER LODGE , No ; 1393 : AN interesting gathering took-place on the 18 th ult ., in the Masonic Hall , Hope Street , Liverpool , when the annual installation was held . The ceremony was made specially interesting in consequence of the W . M .-elect

Dr . J . M'Murray being the Mayor of Bootle , and also that he was presented for his office by the Lord Mayor of Liverpool , Bro . Alderman John Houlding P . M . P . P . S . G . W . There was a very large number of Provincial Grand Officers , W . M . 's , and Brethren , upwards of 120 of all ranks being present . The Installing Master was Bro . N . Christensen W . M .

Upwards of 120 sat down to the banquet supplied by Bro . Casey , at which the usual list of toasts was given . The Worshipful Master proposed the health- of the Lord Mayor of Liverpool , a position , he said , which Bro . Holding had gained by sheer hard work and indomitable pluck , and he felt sure the office would not suffer in the hands of their esteemed Brother .

The Lord Mayor made a suitable reply , and remarked that it was due as much to Masonry as anything else that he now filled his exalted position , for it was following its precepts and teachings that had prepared him for the hard work through which he had gone . Before the Lodge was closed , the retiring W . M . Bro . Christensen was presented with a Past Master ' s jewel and a service of silver plate .

o o . o ST . PETER AND ST . PAUL LODGE , No . 1410 . rTIHERE was a large gathering of members and visitors in the Masonic I Hall , Newport Pagnel , on Tuesday , 16 th ult ., to witness the installation of Bro . Henry Croloy Pope , of Bletchley . The Lodge was called by special dispensation from Grand Lodge on the third Tuesday , instead of the second in the month .

In the absence through indisposition of Bro . T . Taylor , which was greatly regretted by all the Brethren , the installation ceremony was most impressively performed by Bro . Leapidge Cooper , after which the W . M . invested his Officers .

After the installation a banquet was provided at the Swan Hotel , a large company of Brethren sitting down . Bro . H . Schartau P . P . G . Org . Middx ., who so quickly made himselt such a great favourite at the installation banquet last year , by his capitally rendered humorous songs , again attended ,

and this time was accompanied by a lady , Miss Marian Blinkhorn , who greatly pleased the Brethren by the sweetness of her voice , her talented execution of some very tasteful and effective songs , and a general charm of presence . Together these skilful artistes gave a most attractive programme in the intervals between the speeches .

The toast of the W . M . was proposed by Bro . F . W . Taylor , who spoke of the regularity of the attendance of Bro . Pope , who although living some distance away , had hardly ever missed a Lodge since his initiation , and had always shown such an interest in Masonry , and such an energy in carrying out the work , that they might rest assured the reputation of the Lodge would be maintained while in his hands . He wished him a pleasant and prosperous year of office . In responding , Bro . Pope thanked the Lodge for the honour done him by electing him as Master . It was always one of his greatest pleasures to be

in the Lodge , and he would always endeavour to be present , and trusted he should continue to maintain that assiduity which , for mutual benefit , should be shown by all Blasons . During his year of office he would endeavour by all means in his power to do his work satisfactorily so that the high traditions ; of the Lodge should not suffer at his hands , and he trusted that his staff of

Officers and all the members would support him in that endeavour , as he was sure they would . At the same time , he would ask them to forgive any little sins of omission or commission , for he was only a young Mason , of a very few years experience . He would never forsake the Lodge , or forset it . and

hoped the members would see him among them for many years to come , but , even if he was called upo ^ to reside a hundred miles away from the Lodge he would attend every installation , if not more frequently , and when he was absent from their meetings his heart would ever be with them .

FITZ-ALAN LODGE , No . 1432 . THE annual installation festival took place on Thursday , 18 th ult ., when Bro . H . Kenyon was installed as Worshipful Master for the ensuing year by Bros : Nicholson and T . Owen . After the ceremony the brethren adjourned to the banquet , catered for in excellent stylo by Bro . Drew .

LIBERTY OF HAVERING LODGE , No . 1437 . THE first regular meeting of this Lodge since the installation was held at the Golden Lion Hotel , Romford , on Thursday , 25 th ult ., under the presidency of Bro . John Spencer W . M ., who was supported by a numerous

attendance of Past Masters and other members . The first business of the evening was the raising of Bro . T . G . Kemp , tho ceremony being admirably worked by Bro . J . S . Hammond I . P . M ., for whom the W . M . had vacated the chair .

The W . M . afterwards passed Bros . Palmer and Pightling , and the ballot having proved favourable , the following three gentlemen were initiated—Mr . P . J . D . Wiley , Mr . John Suckling , and Mr . Arthur Porter , the ritual being efficiently rendered by the W . M . After other Masonic business the Lodge was closed , and the Brethren sat down to a substantial dinner , provided in Bro . P . Reynolds ' s best style .

The usual Loyal and Masonic toasts were duly honoured , . interspersed with vocal and instrumental contributions by the Brethren , under the direction of Bro . Church Organist of the Lodge .

LODGE OF ISRAEL , No .. 1502 , ON Monday , 15 th ult ., the annual installation meeting was held in the Masonic Hall , Hope Street , Liverpool . The chair was occupied at the opening of the proceedings by Bro . A . E . Woodhouso . Bro . Ralph Robinson P . P . G . Reg . afterwards installed Bro . Samuel Woodhead as Worshipful

Master , and the Officers were invested . A Past Master ' s jewel was presented to Bro . Woodhouse . Bro . Casey furnished the banquet , and the musical programme was given by Bros . Batty , Kirkham , Shaw , Tuson , Gabrielson , Collins , Green , R . Mountfield ( director of music ) , and Hudson and Hartwell Jones ( accompanists ) .

COLNE VALLEY LODGE , No . 1645 . riIHE annual tea and social , open for the Members , their wives , and J ., families , was held in the Lodge Room , Slaithwaite , on Wednesday evening , 24 th ult . The ladies who had the catering in hand provided an excellent tea , to which upwards of 100 sat down . Dancing was afterwards

freely indulged in , and songs , & c , were sung . A capital supper was provided , and refreshments were on the table in readiness for any who wished to partake of them at any time . The party broke up about 2 a . m . on Thursday morning , after enjoying a few very pleasant hours .

LANDPORT LODGE , No . 1776 . IN the presence of a large and representative meeting of the Craft the installation of Bro . John J . Carnon as W . M . took place at Landport , on the 18 th ult . A handsome marble timepiece and a vase were presented' to the Secretary , bearing the following inscription : —

Presented to BBO . JOHN GUYATT , By the Officers and Brethren of the Landport Lodge , No . 1776 , as a mark of their esteem and appreciation of the faithful services as Hon . Secretary for the past ten years . 18 th November 1897 . At the conclusion of the Lodge business the annual banquet was held .

ELLAN VANNIN LODGE , No . 2049 . THERE vvas a large attendance at Douglas , Isle of Man , on the occasion of tho installation of the Rev . R . B . Baron . The ceremony vvas performed by Bro . J . A . Brown D . Prov . G . M ., assisted by Dr . Dearden P . M . as

Director of Ceremonies , and both Brethren were heartily thanked for their services . Bro . G . C . Heron P . D . Prov . G . M . was to have assisted , but was regretably absent through ill-health . The Prov . G . M . Sir John Goldie Taubman was present , and took great interest in the proceedings .

Dr . T . A . Woods was elected to represent the Lodge on the Committee of General Purposes of the Province . After the banquet the retiring W . M . Bro . W . Lay vvas presented with a Past Master's jewel in recognition of his services , and the retiring Secretary Bro . J . A . Brown was made the recipient of the jewel of a Deputy Provincial Grand Master , he having officiated as Secretary for two years .

ST . TRINIANS LODGE , No . 2050 . THE annual meeting was held at Douglas , Islo of Man , when Bro . E . Burgess was installed W . M . the officiating Past Masters being Bros . W . J . Kelly and G . Watterson . About forty Brethren wero present . There was also business in the first and second degrees . Bro . Frank Bridsnn , tho retiring W . M ., was presented with a Past Master ' s jewel for his valuable services during the past year .
