—'•° ' ¦ — GRAND LODGE . THE Quarterly Communication was held on Tuesday , at Mark Masons' Hall , the Earl of Euston Pro Grand Master presiding . After the opening of the Grand Lodge , the Brethren passed the following resolution , which was moved by the

Earl of Euston , and seconded by Viscount Dungarvan Deputy Grand Master : — "That this Grand Lodge do record on its minutes its deep sense of the sad and irreparable loss sustained by the Earl of Lathom Past Grand Master , and also its sincere and heartfelt sympathy and condolence with him in his hour of affliction . "

Lord Addington was invested as Senior Grand Warden . The Prince of Wales was afterwards nominated for the thirteenth year in succession for election as Grand Master of the Degree , the nomination being made by Bro . Thompson Lyon Grand- Steward . Bro . H . R . Graham , M . P .,

nominated Bro . W . M . Stiles for election as Grand Treasurer . Bro . Hughes Hallett , on behalf of the Mark Masons of Kent , presented to Grand Lodge a beautifully executed portrait , in oils , of Earl Amherst Past Grand Master , and on the motion of the Earl of Euston , seconded

by Viscount Dungarvan , the Grand Lodge unanimously passed a vote of thanks to the Province of Kent for the handsome gift , which was placed on the walls . Grand Lodge was then closed .

TITHE annual Provincial Grand Lodge was held under the . JL banner of the Ashlar Lodge , No . 185 , at Tredegar , on Thursday , 25 th ult . Bro . John Owen Marsh , J . P ., Prov . Grand Mark Master presided , and invested his Officers as follow :

THE regular meeting was held at the Freemasons' Hall , Manchester , on Tuesday , 16 th ult ., Bro . John Walker W . M . There was a good attendance . After the reading and confirmation of minutes , a successful ballot was taken for Bro . Charles Swinn P . M . 2387 P . G . S . D . for advancement into the degree of Mark Masonry . Bro . Swinn , however , did not put in an appearance , and the ceremony will probably be performed at the next meeting .

An election of Officers took place , with the result that Bro . Julius Laurisch S . W . was unanimously selected as W . M . for the ensuing year , Bro . A . K . Booth royd still retaining the position of Treasurer . The Auditors appointed were Bros . A . R . Albert J . D . and M . B . Salt . The festive board followed , a very pleasant evening resulting . The visitors were Bros . W . Goodacre P . G . D . Prov . G . Sec . W . Lancs ., and Councillor James J . Lambert P . P . G . Eeg . W . Lancs .

MERIDIAN LODGE , No . 73 . ON the 23 rd ult ., Bro . S . M . Abbott was impressively installed as W . M . by the retiring Master Bro . Harry Downing . The Treasurer reported that the Lodge was the largest in the Province , and had a good credit balance . In the banqueting room a good dinner was served under the presiding W . M ., and a very pleasant meeting , with music and congratulations , was passed .
