Masonic Concert At Plymouth.

MASONIC CONCERT AT PLYMOUTH .

ON Wednesday , 26 th nit ., a concert in aid of the Devon Masonic Educational Fund was given under distinguished patronage at the Guildhall , Plymouth . The wretched state of the weather militated greatly against the success of the concert ; but few of the patrons were present , and the large hall was only partially filled . Notwithstanding the doors being carefully closed , the atmosphere therefrom was much colder than those ladies and gentlemen who had

come in evening dress could have desired . The front of the platform was most tastefully decorated with beautiful plants and ferns , kindly lent by Mr . William Derry , and arranged by his gardener , Mr . Cox , and some Masonic banners , suspended from the pillars , also aided in giving a cheerful appearance to the hall . Mr . Hele—in Masonic parlance , a Wor . Bro . and P . P . G . O . of Cornwall—conducted , accompanied

the songs and played with admirable spirit a march at the opening of the concert . Mr . Binding , of conrse also a Brother , bandmaster of H . M . S . Royal Adelaide , led his band , and in the three selections that fell to their share , a " Minuet and Finale , " from Haydn's Symphony in G , the overture to Beethoven ' s "Prometheus , " and a " Serenade " and " Gavotte , " by Desormes and Kottann , conducted

Bro . Michael Rice of Torquay , played excellently two violin solos , selections from Bach and Spohr , and by his masterly performance called forth much applause . Mr . Fly , well-known to all Plymothians , gave a cornet solo , " Cleopatra , " by Damare , thongh from the prominent part the organ took in the accompaniment it might well have been called a duet . A Masonic choir sang a Madrigal and Chorus

Song , and were well applauded , and in the second part gave a humorous part song— - " A Franklyn ' s Dogge , " by Mackenzie , with which , however , we were not so much struck . Wor . Bro . J . Lovell , of Penzance , sang "The Diver ; " J . Rendle , Campanas ' s "The Smuggler ; " andN . B . Bullen , ofTrnro , " Let me like a Soldier Fall . " That they all sang carefully and well , it is hardly necessary to say ,

and their efforts were much appreciated . We have left until last any notice of the two ladies—Miss Sarah Mear , of Wadebridge , soprano ; and Miss Coyte Turner ( a Modbury lady , we understand ) , contralto , of the Royal Albert Hall and London Ballad Concerts . Though an announcement was made that in consequence of the unusual length of the programme no encores would be permitted , the rule broke nnder

the continued applause of the audience , and both ladies were encored . Miss Mear first gave "Beloved Again , " A . Barri , with great spirit and good taste , and in reality secured an encore . In the second part , Molloy ' s " Kerry Dance " provoked another decided encore , which she responded to by singing " Home Sweet Home , " a song which , though we have heard as an encore so many times that we dread the sound

of it , we feel bound to say she sang nnnsually well . Miss Tnrner secured the sympathy of her audience directly she opened her mouth . With a fine voice , peculiarly rich in some notes , she united an easy and graceful manner and utterance , and both her solos were loudly encored . To the first , " St . Roman ' s Eve , " by Lacy , with organ

accompaniment , she responded with Sullivan s beautiful song , " The Chorister , " and to the second , "I Love my Love , " byPinsuti , with " The Lady of the Lea . " The concert appropriately wound np with the " March of the Masons , " by Bro . Croger , by Masonic choir , organ , and band . —Western Daily Mercury .

HOLLOWAT ' S PiLii . —The chief Wonder of modern times . —This incomparable medicine increases ths appetite , strengthens the stomach , cleanses the liver , corrects biliousness , prevents flatulency , purifies the system , invigorates the nerves , and Te-instates sound health . The enormous demand for these Pills throughout the globe astonishes everybody , and a single trial convinces the

most sceptical that no medicine equals Holloway ' s Pills in its ability to remove all complaints incidental to the human race . They are a blessing to the afflicted , and a boon to all that labour under internal or external dis ase . The purification of the blood , removal of all restraint from the secretive organs , and gentle : "T > ritive action are the prolific sources of the extensive curative range of Holloway ' s Pills .
