Reports Of Meetings.

the members of the Craft , is legion . We trust Bro . Arthur Clemow may soon be restored to his accustomed good health . After the Loyal toasts the W . M . submitted that of the Grand Officers , coupling with it tbe name of Bro . George Read P . G . S . B ., for many years Secretary of the Lodge , who was heartily received on rising to respond .

Bro . Read expressed his pleasure in being associated with the Grand Officers , who were Brethren who did everything in their power to promote all that was good concerning Freemasonry . He was personally obliged for the way in which his health was proposed , and especially thanked the Brethren for their hearty reception of the toast .

Bro . M . A . Krellwitz proposed the toast of the Worshipful Master , who he was pleased to see in the chair of the Lodge . The ability he had displayed in the work of the day was very gratifying , and he felt sure the W . M . would give yet further satisfaction ere his term of office came to an end .

The W . M . was well received on rising to respond . He most sincerely thanked Bro . Krellwitz for his kind remarks , and assured the Brethren he should continue to carry out the duties of his office to the utmost of his ability .

The health of the Visitors followed , the Worshipful Master saying how pleased the members of the Zetland Lodge always were to welcome guests among them . The visitors might depend upon it they would always receive as hearty a welcome in that Lodge as it had been the endeavour of the members to accord them that night .

Bro . Gunzell was delighed to have been invited , as he had very much enjoyed the splendid working he had witnessed at the hands of the W . M . and Bro . Krellwitz . He wished the Lodge and its members all prosperity . Bro . Bannister and other visitors also responded . The W . M . proposed the health of the Past Masters , saying all knew

they did everything in their power for the welfare of the Lodge , and of Masonry in general . The members had only to call on either one of them for any assistance that was required , and it was cheerfully given . He had received a telegram from Bro . W . S . Thwaites , thoir Immediate Past Master , expressing his inability to be present , but hoping he would be with them at the next meeting .

Bro . Harnell , in response , said he was proud of being one of the Past Masters of the Zetland Lodge . The knowledge he had gained was mainly acquired through visiting Instruction Lodges , therefore he strongly advised the younger members to do the same . There was an Instruction Lodge associated with the Zetland , meeting every Thursday , at 8 o'clock , at Carr ' s Hotel , Strand , and he felt the Brethren could not find a better Preceptor than was to be met there in the person of Bro . Krellwitz . Other of the Past Masters also acknowledged the toast .

The W . M . now proposed the health of the Treasurer and Secretary , who he felt were the hardest working members in the Lodge . Bros . Barker and B . ead responded in their usual able manner , after which other toasts were given , the Tyler concluding the series . Several Brethren added to the enjoyment of the evening with displays of their musical ability , among them baing Bros . Worsham , Passtield , Barker P . M ., Higgs , Evans , and others . Bro . F . J . Oliver P . P . G . Organist " presided at the piano .

EARL OF MORNINGTON LODGE , No . 2000 . THE installation took place at the Cafe Boyal , Regent Street , on Friday , 28 th ult . Lodge having been opened , a very satisfactory statement was presented . Bro . Wilfred A . Bowser S . W . and Master-elect was then installed in the chair as Worshipful Master of the Lodge during the ensuing year , by Bro . B . Lake . The new W . M ., on behalf of the Lodge , presented to the I . P . M . a handsome Past Master's jewel , and , after a collection for the Benevolent Fund had been made , closed the Lodge .

A choice banquet followed , presided over by the W . M ., who , on rising to propose the first toast , had a most flattering reception .

SAVAGE CLUB LODGE , No . 2190 . THE members and guests of this well known Lodge assembled at Freemasons' Hall on Tuesday , 1 st inst ., on tho occasion of the installation of Bro . Harold Burke P . G . Steward as Worshipful Master . Owing to Bro . Harry Nicholls P . M . the out-going Master not having

recovered his voice , although he was present , the ceremony was performed by Bro . W . J . Kbbetts P . M . P . G . Steward , who gave the ancient charges with considerablo effect . During tho proceedings the air from " St . Paul , " " Be thou faithful unto death , '" was sung wifch genuine feeling by Bro . W . Nicholl . After he had been duly installed the W . M . appointed his Officers .

At the subsequent banquet , after the Loyal toasts had been warmly responded to , Bro . John Northcofct proposed the M . W . the Pro Grand Master , the R . W . the Deputy Grand Master , and the other Grand Officer ** ; , present and past , coupling with it the name of Bro . Robert Grey Past P . G . W . The next toast ( received with musical honours ) was the Worshipful

Master , proposed in felicitous terms by Bro . C . L . Carson , who explained that he was speaking for Bro . Harry Nicholls , whose heart was with them " though his tongue was motionless . " He paid a high tribute to tho worthy Bro . Harold Burke , both as a man , an artist , and a Mason , and his praises were enthusiastically endorsed .

Tho W . M . 's earnest reply had for its sequel his proposal of the health of the Immediate Prist Master , to whom he presented the Past Master ' s jewel unanimously voted by the Lodge . The honour was gratefully , but with great effort , acknowledged by Bro . Harry Nicholls , who was deeply touched by the hearty greeting that accompanied his rising .

The toast , Our Visiting Brethren , capitally proposed by Bro . W . J . Ebhetts , was responded to by Bro . the Rev . F . 3 . Jackson , of the Sir Isaac Newton Lodge , Cambridge , and by Bro . T . James , of the Gallery Lodge . The W . M . proposed the Past Masters and Bro . W . J . Fisher Secretary suitably replied . The toast preceding that given by the Tyler was the Officers , proposed by the W . M ., and acknowledged by Bros . E . Barnett and 0 . Townley .

The entertainment interspersing the speeches was , as usual at this Lodge , which is so rich in musical and dramatic talent , of the most liberal and attractive description . Bro . W . W . I-Tedgcoek presided at tbe pianoforte with his accustomed

skill and readiness . 'Che enjoyment of the evening was greatly enhanced by tasteful performances hy the J . yric Glee Singers , wbo supplemented a very smooth rendering of " Haste , Ye Soft Gales , " with somo humorous part songs . Upon the success of the whole of the proceedings the new W . M . must be cordially congratulated , says the " Stage . "

Reports Of Meetings.

CHOUGH LODGE , No . 2264 . I FOLLOWING the very successful dance , supper and concert given by this Lodge on the 18 tb ult ., as reported in our issue of the 22 nd , came the regular meeting of the Lodge on Thursday , 27 th ult ., also held at thc Cannon Street Hotel , when the Worshipful Master Brother William Vincent Jull was ably supported by the following : —Bros . Walter Martin Assistant Grand . Pursuivant P . M ., G . Scott Miller W . M . 2500 P . M ., H . Saqui S . W ., J . Almond J . W ., E . T . Edwards P . M . Treas .,

J . W . Dewsnap P . M . Sec , A . Haynes S . D ., C . Frohlick J . D ., John Edwards I . G ., J . A . Smith and J . Lotery Stewards , J . Williams acting Tyler , J . R . Wilson , E . V . du Cruz , John Morris , W . J . River ' s Wells , Percy Gray Assistant Secretary of the Duke of Cornwall Lodge of Instruction , J . D . Meyers , J . W . Stuttle . W . Sabine , H . F . Joel , W . Lowe , E . Williams , W . J . Sowden , H . R . S . Krall , J . W . Cox , G . H . Culvorhouse , H . A . Milner , and several others . The Visitors included Bros . Meyer van Praagh 573 , H . London 1185 , and others .

The Lodge was opened in due form aud the minutes confirmed . The ballot was then taken for Mr . Harry Pegg Carr , a candidate for initiation proposed by Bro . J . W . Dewsnap P . M . Sec , and seconded by Bro . Henry Schneiders . The result was unanimously in favour of the candidate , who was subsequently admitted to a participation in the mysteries of ancient Freemasonry . It is always a pleasure to us to visit this Lodge , knowing as we do that we shall hoar the ritual of the Craft worked to perfection—this occasion was certainly no exception to tho rule .

The Secretary announced the receipt of several letters from Brethren who were unable to attend , including one from Bro . John Belli ,-who was to have been raised at this meeting , explaining his inability to be present , on account of ill health . This Brother enclosed a doctor ' s certificate with his letter , and was complimented at tho Lodge for the attention and courtesy he displayed .

The W . M . rose and said he had * a most pleasant duty to perform—a matter which should have been attended to last November—but on account of the absence of Bro . Georgo Miller P . M . and late Treasurer of the Lodge it was impossible at the time . The pleasurable duty was to present to Bro . George Miller a testimonial from tho Brethren , in recognition of the perfect manner in which he had fulfilled his duties as Treasurer of the Lodge for a period of two years , and in doing so he could but express the gratification of the members for all that Bro . Miller had done for the Lodge in bis official capacity .

Bro . Miller , on rising to respond , was received in a most hearty manner . He said he really did not know how to express his thanks to the members of the Lodge . The Worshipful Master had spoken of the gift as a small token of gratitude , but he called it a large one , and really did not know that he deserved such recognition at their hands , as surely the little he had been able

to do did not call for such a handsome testimonial . He could only say he most sincerely thanked the Worshipful Master and members of theLodge , and assure them that whatever he could do to advance the interests and welfare of the Chough Lodge he should be happy to undertake . The testimonial was worded as follows :

Chough Lodge , No . 2264 . Presented to BBO . GEOEGE MILLEE P . M . By tha W . M ., Wardens , and Brethren of the Lodge . They desire to express their thanks and appreciation of valued services

as Treasurer of the funds for the past two years , also for the eminentl y satisfactory manner in which the duties of the office have been carried out b y you . Signed W . Vincent Jull W . M . E . T . Edwards P . M . Treas .

J . W . Dewsnap P . M . Sec . After a few more transactions the Lodge was closed , and the Brethren repaired to the banquet room , where an excellent repast awaited them , the service being perfect . In duo course the W . M . proposed the Loyal toasts , coupling with that of the Grand Officers the name of Bro . Walter Martin A . G . P ., who briefly returned thanks for the toast .

Bro . Dewsnap P . M . proposed the toast of the W . M ., eulogising his many good qualities as a Mason . The way in which he had performed the ceremony of initiation that ei-eninc ; was a credit to him , as well as to the Lodge over which he presided . He might mention , in the absence of their worthy Treasurer Bro . Edwards , that the Lodge was in a sound financial condition .

The W . M . was warmly received on rising to respond . He sincerel y thanked Brother Dewsnap for proposing his health , and the Brethren for receiving it in so cordial a manner . He was exceedingly pleased to hear that the Lodge over which he had the honour to preside was in a flourishing condition , and that there was a good balance on the right side . He hoped it would , so continue . The Brethren might rest assured that his heart

was with them in the Lodge Bro . Jull now proposed the toast of the Initiate , to whom he tendered a hearty welcome . Bro . Carr , replying , tendered his thanks . He appreciated the privilege of being initiated into an Order he had long desired to enter , and the ritual of which had so greatly impressed him . He should strive to win an honourable position among them .

The Visitors' toast was given , and was acknowledged by several of the guests , other toasts following , and being regularly responded to . Several of the Brethren added to the enjoyment of the evening by displays of their musical abilities , among these being Bros . J . H . Mullerhousen , Fred . W . Stephens P . M ., W . L . Cockburn , Mr . Henry Bailey and Mr . David Feldenrust . Bro . Smith P . P . G . Org . presided at the piano .

Wo were pleased to see among the company Bro . T . Puzey P . M ., one of the proprietors of the Hotel , who has long enjoyed a high renown in London and Provincial Masonic circles .
