Dinner Of The Citadel Instruction Lodge.

DINNER OF THE CITADEL INSTRUCTION LODGE .

THE fourth annual dinner of the Citadel Lodge of Instruction , No . 1897 , was celebrated on Friday evening of last week , at the Holborn Restaurant , this being the third successive occasion on which this famous establishment has been selected by the Brethren concerned . The company numbered upwards of a hundred Ladies and Brethren , who enthusiastically supported Bro . F . Dunstan P . M . Preceptor , who fulfilled the duties of the chair on this occasion .

After an enjoyable banquet the company was photographed by Messrs . Fradelle and Young , the eminent photographers , of Regent Street . The whole of the arrangements for the meeting were in the hands of Bro . Harry Willsmer , and were ably carried out by him , assisted by Bros . F . W . Bishop ( accompanist ) , Jeanes , Lamer , Feistel , and Strang as Stewards .

The musical arrangements were under tlie direction of Bro . F . W . Bishop , assisted by Misses G . and F . Feistel , Frances Pink ( violin ) , G . Dunstan , and Sheffield , Bros . T . Feistel , Jeanes , Robert Dennant , and Brett , Messrs . 0 . Norman , A . Wade , and Walter Grace .

Entertainment Notes.

ENTERTAINMENT NOTES .

London Pavilion . —Bro . Frank Glenister has introduced another quick ohange artiste in the person of Signor Rino Pepi , whose undoubtedly clever comedy sketch " Love always victorious " is marred only by his imperfect knowledge of our language . In it he sustains no less than seven characters , each entirely distinct , two being female parts , but the action is perfectly intelligible . He is much more successful in his impersonations of well-known

composers , in which he does not have to speak . Jumping into the orohestra he amuses us in rapid succession with portraits of Wagner , Verdi , Gounod , Mendelssohn , Offenbach , Ivan Caryll , and J . M . Glover , and his imitations of their peculiarities in waving the baton is highly diverting . The otherwise strong programme embraces the principal music hall favourites now in London .

Prince of Wales ' s . —The pretty comic opera "La Poupee " has now passed through the first year of its life , and is still going strong and vigorous . On the occasion of our visit last week the Theatro was packed with a delighted audience , many of whom had doubtless witnessed the performance at least once before , and the opera was received with the same satisfaction as when first produced . This is due , of course , to the tuneful and lively music of the composer M . Audran , the clever and funny , if impossible , story of M .

Ordonneau , and last , but by no means the least , the charming acting and singing of Miss Jessie Huddleston . Mr . Courtice Pounds has greatly improved as Lancelot , though his acting still leaves something to be desired . The part of Hillarius , the doll maker , suits the style of Mr . Willie Edouin , and he natui'ally causes most of tbo laughter . Mr . Norman Salmond ' s fine voice is heard to advantage as Maxime , and he looks the Reverend Father

to the life . Mesdames Adelaide Newton , Ellas Dee , and Gwen Powell , together with Messrs . Chas . Wibrow and Fred Storey , all lend their valuable assistance to the general succeFs , and there appt-ars to be no reason why the opera should not run on for another year , only that Mr . Lowenfeld has another novelty that he is anxious to present to his patrons . Please note that fees are abolished at this theatre .
