CORNWALL CHARITY ASSOCIATION .

THE thirteenth annual meeting and ballot of this Association were held at Truro on the 24 th ult ., Bro . E . D . Anderton Prov . G . Sec . presiding . The Secretary Bro . Gilbert B . Pearce Prov . S . G . Warden presented a report , showing receipt of 290 guineas , and by

ballot and allotment of fully-paid accounts , the distribution of this sum was made to the following Lodges , a strong wish being expressed that a large proportion , if not the entire sum , should be handed to the Royal Masonic Institution for Boys in this , its Centenary year : —Falmouth 15 guineas , Penzance

5 , Helston 30 , Bodmin 5 , Truro 10 , Hayle 30 , St . Austell 10 , Liskeard 50 , Redruth 10 , Launceston 5 , Millbrook 20 , Chacewater 10 , Fowey 10 , Saltash 5 , St . Germans 5 , St . Ives 15 , Camborne 10 , Wadebridge 15 , Cornish Lodge ( London ) 10 , Eliot Chapter 10 , Cornubian ( Mark ) 10 .

The Officers were thanked for their services and re elected .

We have . before us a copy of the summons ¦ for the January meeting of the Doric Lodge , No . 316 , on the Register of the Grand Lodge of Canada , the business of which included the balloting for two Brethren as Joining Members , and for two gentlemen candidates for initiation .

A novelty to which we are unaccustomed in this country is the notification in regard to " Fraternal Visits , " the Worshipful Master expressing a hope that he will have a full representation of the Officers and Members of the Lodge to

accompany him upon the occasion of two visits which he enumerates . We think it a pity this practice of Lodge visiting is not recognised in our country , and feel our Canadian and many other " outside" Brethren are far in advance of us in the matter of fraternal intercourse of a

purely Masonic character , as apart from entertaining at what in this country is designated the festive board . There are many Lodges in this country , it is true , who are ready and willing to entertain visitors without formal invite , but as the

Order advances up the social scale , and its '' banqueting " becomes more and more general , the old fashioned fraternal intercourse is gradually being pushed '' out of date "—more ' s the pity , say we .

A very elaborate banner is to be presented to the Friars Lodge , No . 1349 ( Bro . H . Harris W . M . ) , by Bro . David Moss P . M . P . D . G . S . B . Johannesburg , South Africa , in commemoration of his return to England , and upon his

becoming a Joining Member of the Lodge . The work has been entrusted to the well-known firm of Bro . W . H . Toye " and Co ., 17 Clerkenwell Road , E . C , and will , we understand , be a very fine specimen of artistic work .
