Criterion . —With Mr . Charlea Wyndham back again at his bright little theatre , an enjoyable evening is sore to bo obtained j but Mr . Wyndham as the amorous Bob Saokelt , in Bronson Howard ' s lively farce " Brighton , " is a treat no one should miss . The versatile actor , who so well fills the place on the English stage vacated by

Charles Matthews , may justly be denominated "the perpetual youth , " since the manner in whioh he rattles throngh the piece is more consonant with a boy of fifteen than a man of—well of mature years . Laughter , commencing with ripples and ending with roars , greets the genial comedian whenever he is on the stage , until tbe

spectator ia almost tempted to cry out , " Hold ! enough , " though doubtless he would be very willing to exchange places with Mr . Wyndham , in order to worship three snob charming divinities as Miss Mary Moore , Miss Mary Ansell , and Miss F . Francis . Mr . F . Ather . ley makes a capital Jack Benedict , and plays well np to the principal

part , while Messrs . Everard , Crofton , Valentine and Shirley sustain their characters with great credit . Mr . W . Blakeley as Vandenpump is amusing , but hardly np to his nsual form . Miss C . Ewell is good as the termagant wife , and Misses S . Carlisle and E . Grattan fill in two small sketches with advantage . If ho depend upon his admirers

Mr . Wyndham has no need to change his programme for a considerable timo to come . Ou Tuesday afternoon , Sth inst ., a new and original play in four acts will be produced here . It is entitled Margaret Byng , and is written by Messrs . F . C . Philips and Percy Fendall .

The snecess of " A Koyal Divorce " necessitates its being played nine times a week , afternoon performances being given on Monday , Wednesday , and Saturday . A musical comedy by Messrs . W . S . Gilbert and George Grossmith will succeed " Miss Deoima " afc the Prince of Wales' Theatre , when that attractive young lady has satisfied the curiosity of the public .

The next production at the Garrick is to be a new play by Mr . Sydney Grundy , whioh is entitled " A Fool ' s Paradise . " Mr . D'Oyly Carte having arranged his difficulties at the Boyal English Opera will re . open the house this evening with the successful opera " The Basoohe . "

Mr . John Donald and Mr . D . Burleigh-Tessemati have taken the Royalty Theatre for daily matinees , commencing on Saturday , 12 th December . They will open with two new and original juvenile comic operas , eaoh in one act . Music by F . Pascal Their respective titles are " Cook Robin , " written by Mr . 0 .

Lythington ; and " Old King Cole , " libretto by W . Yonnge . These will be followed by a shadow pantomime , and then by a good oldfashioned harlequinade . The London " Jn ven ilo" Opera Company , including Misa Graoie Marielle , will interpret the operas , and it will be a juvenile show by juveniles for juveniles .

MASONIC BUILDINGS , BIRMINGHAM . —The Masonio buildings in Severn Street , Birmingham , opened recently after re-construction . The front block ia three stories in height , and consists of ante-rooms capable of accommodating 200 members . Entering from Severn Street , a tiled hall communicates with the ante-rooms and then into the Lodge room , where the rites and ceremonies of the Craft ore conducted . Daylight is entirely excluded . The walls are divided by

pilasters supporting an entablature and coved ceiling . In the east , behind the Master ' s chair , is a Doric portico , and in tho west is an organ-chamber , approached by a concealed staircase entered through the Lodge Room . The architects engaged in the work of re-conatrncfcion and decoration were Messrs . Essex and Nicol , of Birmingham ; the general contractor being Mr . Moorbonso , of Birehfieldj the decorative work being carried out by Mr . John Taylor , of Birmingbam .

Never in the history of Liverpool ha ? it been the privilege of tha chief magistrate to occupy tho throe distinguished positions at present occupied by Bro . J . de Bels Adams—that of the mayoralty , and those of the Worshipful Maater of the Prince ' s Lodge , No . 2316 , which during its brief existence has taken a leading place in the maintenance of Masonio Charities , and the Senior Grand

Wardenship of the Province of West Lancashire , to which he waa appointed about three weeks ago , at B ' aokpool . The nana ! monthly meeting of the members of the Prince ' s Lodge , at the Deaf and Dumb Institute , Prince's-avennf , on the 17 th ult ., accordingly assumed a festival form , when the Mayor Mason ( Bro . J . de Bela Adams ) , aa the chief of tha Lodge , was weloolmed with an enthusiasm which has rarely been

witnessed at any gathering of tbe Graft in this district . Amongst those who assembled to give him a hearty greeting were several members of tbe Grand Lodge , about 30 members of the Provinoial Grand Lodge , numerous Masters of Craft Lodges in the Province , and a full attendance of the members of the " Prince ' s , " over which tbe Master presides so genially and successfully . The Mayor was

escorted into the room by the chiefs of the Craft , and , in response to the frequent expressions of cordiality in the Lodge and at tbe banquet tablp , hia Worship again expressed his intention to mike his devotion to Freemasonry only second to the fulfilment of tbe mayoral duties daring tbe coming year . Excellent musio was supplied by a strong force of brethren during the evening .
