THE INSTITUTIONS IN 1893 .
THE amounts received during the past year on behalf of the three great Charitable Institutions of English Freemasonry show considerable variation when compared with the figures of 1892 , which it will be remembered were of an exceptional character , in consequence of the special subscriptions made in connection with the Jubilee celebration of the Benevolent being included in the returns of that Institution .
This feature accounts for a falling off in the receipts of that charity from the £ 61 , 849 2 s 6 d received in 1892 , to £ 20 , 436 2 s 8 d in 1893 , but some of this is made up for by the increased support accorded to the Educational Funds , whose totals were £ 38 , 615 12 s Id in 1893 , as compared with £ 28 , 616 Os Id in 1892 , while the Fund of Benevolence also shows an increase , from £ 8 , 320 to £ 9 , 525 ; so that altogether we have to record a total of £ 68 , 576 14 s 9 d as spent in Masonic Charity through the medium of these four funds in 1893 , as compared with £ 98 , 785 2 s 7 d in the proceeding year , as shown by the following figures :
