DEVON MASONIC EDUCATIONAL FUND .

A MEETING of the committee who carried out the arrangements for the Masonic concert given in Plymouth Guildhall , on 29 th November , in aid of the Devon Masonic Educational Fund was held at the Freemasons' Hall , on Saturday evening , to receive the balance sheet , and to decide on the disposal of the net proceeds . Bro . A . Parkhouse 1247 , the chairman of the committee , presided , and others present included Bros . J . R . Lord Treas ., J . B . Gover and W . H . Dillon , the joint Secretaries of the Fund .

The Treasurer reported that the gross receipts at the concert amounted to £ 118 16 s , and expenses £ 30 12 s , leaving a profit of £ 83 3 s . It had been arranged that the profits should be devoted in life governorships to the principal promoters of the concert , and to the Lodges which returned the largest amounts on the sale of tickets . There wero sixteen life governorships , ^ award . Bro . Willoughby ,

Mrs . Willoughby and the Chairman ( Bro . A . Parkhouse ) , under the banner of whose Lodge the concert was held , were each awarded a life governorship , on the proposition of Bro . Gover . To Bro . and Mrs . Willoughby , he said , the merit of the concert must chiefly be awarded , while to Bro . Parkhouse they were indebted for very assiduous and untiring exertions as their chairman , and for

furnishing the whole of the embellishments and ornamentations of the Guildhall free of cost . The thirteen remaining life governorships were awarded to the following Lodges in order of merit for value of tickets sold .- —Prudence 1550 , St . John 1247 , St . George 2025 , St . John 70 , Brunswick 159 , Friendship 202 , Ebrington 1847 , Harmony 156 , Elms 1212 , Huyshe 1099 , Fidelity 230 , Charity 223 , and Fortitude 105 .

Bro . Willoughby thanked the brethren for the honour done to himself and his wife . It had been to them , he said , a labour of love . Their hearts were entirely in the work , and with the consent and support of the brethren it would be a great pleasure to give a similar concert each year in aid of the fund .

Thanks were then especially voted to the executive Officers of the committee , Bros . Lord , Gover , and Dillon , for their untiring exertions ; to Bro . J . W . Penwarn 1550 , for his kind aid in furnishing plants to decorate the Guildhall , free of charge ; and to Bro .

C . Mutten 1550 , for his zealous and valued assistance in seeking to make the concert a success . Prominent mention was also made of the fact that Bro . Mutten ' s Lodge ( Prudence 1550 ) sold just double that of the next highest on the list . Thanks were also voted to all who gave their services at the concert .

The two concerts which have been given at Plymouth under Masonio auspices have resulted in an addition of £ 150 to the Devon Masonio Educational Fund .
