LODGE OF RELIEF , No . 42 . ON Wednesday , 27 th ult ., the installation took place at the Grey Mare Hotel , Bury , in the presence of a large number of visiting brethren . Bro . J . W . Mackie was duly installed , the ceremony being performed by Bros . J . Bedfern P . M . P . P . G . P ., T . Kigby P . M , and S . Cox I . P . M . The Officers were invested .

At the conclusion of the ceremonies the brethren celebiated the festival of St . John , and sat down to an excellent banquet seived by Mr . B . L . and Mrs . Duckworth . The usual Masonic and other toasts were honoured . o o o

Alter the minutes had been read and confirmed , the annual balance sheet was submitttd and received . The report of the Ledge Benevolent Fund was also presented , the balance in hand amounting to the handsome sum oi £ '/ 90 . Bro . Hands , who was initiated at the previous meeting , having proved his proficiency , was passed to the second degree . The ballot was taken ano proved unanimous in favour oi Mr . Daniel Cohen , but as he was not in attendance the

initiation was jostponed . Ihe next duty was the installation ol the new Master Bio . B . Weigel , ha * , ing been unanimously elected at the previous meeting , was duly presented and signified his assent to the ancient charges and regulations . He was subsequently installed in the chair of King Solomon , and regularly saluted by the brethren in the thiee degrees , the ceremony being aomiiably delivered by Bro . Garrard .

The W . M . appointed the following Officers for the ensuing j ear : Seigenberg S . W ., Koco J . W ., Lyon P . M . Treasurer , L . Lazarus P . M . Secretary , Davy S . D ., Onken J . D ., Kosenberg I . G ., P . M . Dodson D . C , Bahr and Why ! Stewards , and Gaskell 'J ' yler . Bro . Garrard gave the addresses to the W . M ., the Officers and Lodge generally

in such a manner as to elicit the commendation oi the brethren ; and the proposition ot Bro . Lazarus that a vote ol thanks should be accoiaed to Bio . Garrard and entered on the Loage minutes , was carried with acclamation . The Lodge was then closed and the company adjourned to the banquet room .

A very handsome Past Master ' s jewel was presented to Bro . Garrard during the evening , which was enlivened by a capital entertainment under the direction of Miss Eva Weigel , daughter of the new Master . o o o
