TIIE annual banqneb wns held on the 27 th nit ., nt the Masonic Hall , Princess Square , Plymouth . Tho W . M . Bro . Parkhouse presided , aod there was a largo attendance . Bro . and Mis . Harvey , the Steward and Stewardess of the club , provided an excellent dinner , and wero warmly thanked for thoir successful catering . After the loyal toasts had toen duly hononred , Bro . Barter P . M . proposed tho R . W . Bro . Viscount Ebnnstou , M . P ., Prov . G . Master ,

and the Grand LotlgB of Devonshire . The toast was acknowledged by Bro . Cooper P . P . G . J . D ., who said they had reason fco congratulate themselves on having so excellent a Prov . Grand Master . The state of His Lordship's health had made ifc impossible for some time past that they could aee him amongst them as often as they might wish , bnfc they all knew thafc the Provincial Grand Master took a very keen

interest in Freemasonry , and did his best to promote the welfare of the Province over which he presided . Bro . J . Parkhouse P . G . S . who also responded , said it must be a pleasure to any Mason to belong to a Lodge like that of the St . John , whioh was always most careful in its selection of members , and did its best to uphold the reputation of Freemasonry . Bro . Gurney , in proposing th « health of the Master

of fche Lodge , Bro . A . Parkhouse , said their W . M . had thoroughly won his way to the position he now occupies , and the brethren were confident thafc he would prove a worthy successor to the many ' W . M . ' s who had gone before him , and who had done s > o much to place the Sfc . John ' s Lodge in a foremost position in the Province . Brother Parkhouse W . M . in acknowledging the toast , said he had succeeded

to the chair under very encouraging circumstances , for the Lodge was in a very efficient and satisfactory state , and it mnst be a p leasure to any Mason to preside over snch a Lodge . They were continually adding to their numbers , but he hoped that this would not be the be-all and end-all of their desires , bufc thafc their aim would be to introduce only worthy men into their Order . They mnst

never lose sight of the fact that Masonry was intended for worthy men alone , and it was better that they should have no additions to their numbers afc all than thafc they shonld have in their midst men for whom they conld have no respect , and in whom they could place no confidence . The W . M . afterwards proposed fche I . P . M . and Past Masters of 1247 , and paid a high compliment to Bro . Mayne I . P . M .

for tho admirable manner in which he had discharged the duties of W . M . during the past year . The toast was acknowledged by Brother Mayne and J . Kin ton Bond P . P . G . D . C . The toasfc of the Treasurer and Secretary , Bros . Lord and Pearce , was proposed in eulogistic terms by Bro . Eendle P . M .. and received with great cordiality . Bro . Lord P . P . P . T ., who was the first to reply , said the Lodge was afc

this moment in a better position than it had ever been before , and for this they were largely indebted to their I . P . M . for the thoroughly excellent manner in which he discharged the duties of W . M . during the past year . Bro . Lord reminded fche brethren thafc this was the Jubilee year of the Masonio Benevolent Institution , and in commemoration of the Jubilee ifc was intanded that all subscriptions this year

should carry with them double votes . He hoped , therefore , thafc many brethren wonld take advantage of this , and give all fche support they could fco this excellent Institution . Much nearer home was their own Devon Masonio Educational Fund , witb whose valuable work they were all acquainted . He earnestly appealed to fche brethren generally to identify themselves with this Institution by becoming annnal subscribers to its funds . Thoy had sixteen children on the

fund , each child receiving £ 15 a year out of the voluntary subscriptions of the brethren , and they had in hand over a thousand pounds . The fund was started in 1879 , and ever since then ifc had been progressing , had been doing excellent work ; and it was in every way deserving the sympathetic support of the Masons of Devonshire . Brother Pearce P . P . G . S . D . also returned thanks . Other toasts followed .

The following is a copy of an address from tho Druids ' Lodge of Love and Liberality ( Redruth ) to the Duke and Duchess of Cornwall , expressing sorrow and sympathy with their Royal Highnesses on the death of the Dnke of Clarence : —

' We , the Master , Past Masters , Wardens , and Brethren of Druids ' Lodge of Love and Liberality , No . 589 , Eedrnth , Cornwall , desire to express our sorrow at the death of his Royal Highness the Dnke of Clarence and AvondaleProvincial Grand Master of Berkshireand

, , beg to be allowed to tender to your Eoyal Highnesses our sincere and respectful sympath y in the great loss you and the members of yonr Eoyal Family have sustained . We pray thafc the Most High will send you comfort in this sad honr of your bereavement . "

It is pleasing to learn that , throngh the active exertions of fcho Eight Worshipful Master and officials of the Kilwinning Lodgo of Freemasons , the orphan children of the late Mr . William Chalmers , draper , Castle Street , Forfar , havo now been placed on tho roll of annuitants of tho funds of Scottish Masonic Benevolence in conneetion with the Grand Lodge of Scotland . For many years Mr . ChuImers was an active member of thia Lodge , and took a great interest in all matters which concerned the Craft .

A groat number of Freemasons attended tho service in St . Lawrence Church on the occasion of the Funeral of tho Prov . Grand Master ; the sermon was preached b y Archdeacon Pott , from the words " What I do thou knowesfc nofc now , but thou shalt know Jiereaftor . " The Provincial Grand Officers were conspicuous by their attendance , and the Church was crowded .
