THE installation Festival of this Lodge , postponed from Wednesday , in consequence of the funeral of the Duke of Clarence occurring on that day , was held , by dispensation of the Provincial Grand Master ( Sir Miohael Hicks-Beach ) , on Saturday , the 30 th ult ., at the Masinio HH I' , Cheltenham . Lodge having been opened by the WM . Bro . T . A . Hnband , tbe ceremony of installing the W . M . elect ,

John ' s Festival was celebrated , on 28 th ult ., at fche Masonio Hall , Adelphi-street , when there were present—Bros . West W . M ., Griffiths I . P . M ., Galloway S . W ., Thomas J . was initiated into Freemasonry by the W . M ., after whioh the installation ceremony was proceeded with , the W . M . ( Brother West ) exercising his prerogative to instal his successor . After being presented fco the Installing Master , the W . M . elect ( Bro . Daniel Galloway ) waa forthwith installed Worahipful Master of fche Harmony Lodge , No . 935 , for fche eusuing twelve months , with all due rite

and ceremony , and was subsequently proclaimed and saluted in the customary manner . Bro . Graham P . M . then invested the following brethren Officers for the year , viz .: —Thomas S . W ., Griffiths P . M . J . W ., Clarke P . M . Treasurer , Openshaw Secretary , Makin S . D . Richardson J . D ., Graham P . M . D . C , and J . Smith I . G . Bro . Graham addressed the W . M ., Bro . Barker P . M . P . P . G . T . the Wardens , Bro .

West I . P . M . the brethren . Prior to the Lodge being closed a telegram of condolence was ordered to be sent to H . R . H . fche Prince of Wales on his recent sad bereavement . A joining member and a candidate for initiation were proposed , and there being no farther business the Lodge was closed in peace and harmony at 5 ' 50 . The brethren subsequently celebrated tho Festival of S . John

afc a banquet , after which tho usual Loyal and Masonio toasts were honoured ; thafc of the Worshipf & l Master was enthusiastically received , Brother Galloway being very popular and much liked . The toast was heartily drank , after which Bro . G . S . Smith sang " Here ' s to his health in a song , " aud the W . M . replied in appropriate terms . ' The health of the I . P . M . and Installing Master

was proposed in felicitous terras , and a handsome Past Master ' s jewel presented for his appreciated and valuable services during the past year , for which Bro . West returned his heartfelt thanks . The other toasts included the Visiting Brethren , the Past Masters , tho Masonic Charities , an enjoyable evening being spout . The intervals between tho toasts were enlivened with some capital songs aud recitations from Bros . G . S . Smith , Wroe , Lisenden and others .

S . in a manner reflecting the highest credit on the Installing Master , who only had one opportunity daring his year of office

of showing the metal he was made of . The newly-installed W . M . was proclaimed and saluted in the customary manner , affcer whioh Bro . Stewards . After the usual addresses had been delivered , the ceremony of installation was concluded . Prior to the Lodgo beiuR closed a handsome liqaeur stand was presented to Bro . Godfrey Higham P . M . P . P . G . D . D . C , in commemoration of his twenty-fifth year of connection with , the Lodge , and in presenting him with tha handsome testimonial from the members Bro . Armitage referred to

the valuable help he had rendered during a quarter of a century , having during that time been W . M . twice aud Secretary three times . Suoh services Bro . Armitage said could not be too highly valued or over-estimated , and ifc must be gratifying to Bro . Higham to feel that his efforts were highly and sincerely appreciated by every member of his Lodge , who wished him long life and prosperity .

Bro . Higham , who was evidently muoh touched by Bro . Aruiitage ' s remarks , said he had not the slightest idea of receiving such a beautiful token of the brethren ' s esteem . This he sincerely thanked them for , and whioh he assured them he should highly prize . His labour had been one of love , and , as he considered ifc , a matter of duty , and so long as the G . A . O . T . U . spared him , he shonld

continue to do his utmost to promote the prosperity of hia Lodge . After this pleasing episode hearty good wishes were expressed by the numerous visitor . " , and fche Lodge was closed in peace and harmony . The brethren subsequently celebrated the Festival of St . John , with a recherche banquet , after which the usual Loyal and Masonio toasts were honoured , Bro . Chadwick replying for the Past Grand Officers ,

aud Bros . Martin Thomas P . G . J . D ., McGregor P . P . G . D . C . Derbyshire , and Abbott P . P . G . D . C . for tbe Provincial Grand Officers . Bro . Hoyland P . M . D . C ., in proposing the health of the W . M . Bro . Joseph Selby , spoke in high terras of praise of the manner in whioh ho had performed the various duties allotted to him since his connection with tho Lodge , of his regular attendance , his genial courteous

manner that had made him esteemed by all . Bro . Hoyland congratulated the W . M . on his having a good staff of Officers to assist him , and particularly so competent a P . M . as Bro . Armitage , who , as a worku-, and possessing a thorough knowledge of the ritual , was second to tone . Bro . Hoyland , continuing , said it was it must be a source of satisfaction to know the Lodge

w . is in such a satisfactory condition , and tbat its prospects were very bright . With some work to start his year of office , and possessing such ability and energy , the W . M . had a grand future before him , and he ( Bro . Hoyland ) felt that he was only echoing the sentiments of every member of the Lodge when he said he sincerely trusted the W . M . would enjov a happy and prosperous year of office . The toast

was enthusiastically received , and Bro . Selby ' s health heartily drank , after which Bro . Howard sang " Here ' s to his health in a song . " The W . M . on rising to reply was loudly cheerd . He said bo thanked the brethren cordially and sincerely for fche hearty manner they had received fche toast . He appreciated the confidence they bad reposed in him , and tho kind remarks that had fallen from

Bro . Hoyland , and he would do his utmost to merit their confidence , and trusted they would pardon any shortcomings . It . was satisfactory to feel he should be well supported by able Officer ? , and by such an I . P . M . ns Bro . Ariiitige , who waa an excellent good fellow and one whom ho folt he conld confidently rely ou , in case of need , tj assist him . It -WUH highly important for a W . M . to be snpported by

an efficient staff of Officers , as otherwise , like a defective cogwheel , it throw tho whole machinery out of genr . Bro . Selby earnestly appealed to the members to be regular in their attendance at Lodgo meetingt- ^ ns nothing waa so dispiriting as for a W . M . to gazj on empty chairs . Iu conclusion , the W . M . said whatever virtues ho possessed should certainly bo exhibited during his year of office , and ho would Ao hi ; i utmost to preserve the harmony that had

always reigned in tho Lodge , and endeavour to encourage and increase that good feelinp ; rather than it should deterioat-a in any form . The health of the Installing Master and I . P . M . waa proposed by Bro . Selby , who said that with reference to the manner in which he had discharged his duties during his year of office , the words used by the G . A . O . T . M ., and after the usual preliminaries , the W . M . elect , Bro . Selby , was duly presented and inducted into the ohair of K . S . in a manner reflecting the highest credit on the Installing Master , who only had one opportunity daring his year of office

of showing the metal he was made of . The newly-installed W . M . was proclaimed and saluted in the customary manner , affcer whioh Bro . Armitage invested the following brethren Officers for the year George Parker S . W ., Birkbeck J . W ., John Taylor Treasurer , Simister Secretary , Lingard S . D ., J . Chalmers J . D ., Hoyland P . M D . C , John W . Taylor I . G ., Fitzsimmons , Gill and Bowes

Stewards . After the usual addresses had been delivered , the ceremony of installation was concluded . Prior to the Lodgo beiuR closed a handsome liqaeur stand was presented to Bro . Godfrey Higham P . M . P . P . G . D . D . C , in commemoration of his twenty-fifth year of connection with , the Lodge , and in presenting him with tha handsome testimonial from the members Bro . Armitage referred to

the valuable help he had rendered during a quarter of a century , having during that time been W . M . twice aud Secretary three times . Suoh services Bro . Armitage said could not be too highly valued or over-estimated , and ifc must be gratifying to Bro . Higham to feel that his efforts were highly and sincerely appreciated by every member of his Lodge , who wished him long life and prosperity .

Bro . Higham , who was evidently muoh touched by Bro . Aruiitage ' s remarks , said he had not the slightest idea of receiving such a beautiful token of the brethren ' s esteem . This he sincerely thanked them for , and whioh he assured them he should highly prize . His labour had been one of love , and , as he considered ifc , a matter of duty , and so long as the G . A . O . T . U . spared him , he shonld

continue to do his utmost to promote the prosperity of hia Lodge . After this pleasing episode hearty good wishes were expressed by the numerous visitor . " , and fche Lodge was closed in peace and harmony . The brethren subsequently celebrated the Festival of St . John , with a recherche banquet , after which the usual Loyal and Masonio toasts were honoured , Bro . Chadwick replying for the Past Grand Officers ,

aud Bros . Martin Thomas P . G . J . D ., McGregor P . P . G . D . C . Derbyshire , and Abbott P . P . G . D . C . for tbe Provincial Grand Officers . Bro . Hoyland P . M . D . C ., in proposing the health of the W . M . Bro . Joseph Selby , spoke in high terras of praise of the manner in whioh ho had performed the various duties allotted to him since his connection with tho Lodge , of his regular attendance , his genial courteous

manner that had made him esteemed by all . Bro . Hoyland congratulated the W . M . on his having a good staff of Officers to assist him , and particularly so competent a P . M . as Bro . Armitage , who , as a worku-, and possessing a thorough knowledge of the ritual , was second to tone . Bro . Hoyland , continuing , said it was it must be a source of satisfaction to know the Lodge

w . is in such a satisfactory condition , and tbat its prospects were very bright . With some work to start his year of office , and possessing such ability and energy , the W . M . had a grand future before him , and he ( Bro . Hoyland ) felt that he was only echoing the sentiments of every member of the Lodge when he said he sincerely trusted the W . M . would enjov a happy and prosperous year of office . The toast

was enthusiastically received , and Bro . Selby ' s health heartily drank , after which Bro . Howard sang " Here ' s to his health in a song . " The W . M . on rising to reply was loudly cheerd . He said bo thanked the brethren cordially and sincerely for fche hearty manner they had received fche toast . He appreciated the confidence they bad reposed in him , and tho kind remarks that had fallen from

Bro . Hoyland , and he would do his utmost to merit their confidence , and trusted they would pardon any shortcomings . It . was satisfactory to feel he should be well supported by able Officer ? , and by such an I . P . M . ns Bro . Ariiitige , who waa an excellent good fellow and one whom ho folt he conld confidently rely ou , in case of need , tj assist him . It -WUH highly important for a W . M . to be snpported by

an efficient staff of Officers , as otherwise , like a defective cogwheel , it throw tho whole machinery out of genr . Bro . Selby earnestly appealed to the members to be regular in their attendance at Lodgo meetingt- ^ ns nothing waa so dispiriting as for a W . M . to gazj on empty chairs . Iu conclusion , the W . M . said whatever virtues ho possessed should certainly bo exhibited during his year of office , and ho would Ao hi ; i utmost to preserve the harmony that had

always reigned in tho Lodge , and endeavour to encourage and increase that good feelinp ; rather than it should deterioat-a in any form . The health of the Installing Master and I . P . M . waa proposed by Bro . Selby , who said that with reference to the manner in which he had discharged his duties during his year of office , the words used by the G . A . O . T .
