ISRAEL LODGE , No . 205 . rriHE Fifteen sections were worked on Sunday , at this Lodge of Instruction , JL which holds its meetings every Sunday , at the Rising Sun Tavern , Globe Road , Mile End , E ., aud there were present about sixty Brethren , many of them well-known for their loyal devotion to Masonio work in every

part of the metropolis : Bros . Basil Stewart P . M ., Jarrett , J Isaacs , J . J . Roberts , Harris , McCarthy , Thornton , Peacock , Rosenthal , Blyth , Haward , Coliings , J . Lodge having been opened in due form the W . M . proceeded to work the sections , in which he was assisted by the following Brethren :

Eleven new members were proposed and unanimously elected , Brother Roberts responding on their behalf . A vote of thanks was passed to the W . M ., and the Brethren testified their sincere appreciation of the really excellent manner in which the proceedings had been conducted by Bro . De Casseres by the hearty manner in which the vote was accorded . Votes of thanks were also given to those Brethren who had assisted to work the sections ; no praise can be too high for designating the quality of the Masonic work done .

A letter was received from Lady Richardson , thanking the Brethren for their sympathy in her recent loss . Lodge was subsequently closed and adjourned .

WESTBOURNE LODGE , No . 733 . AT Bro . Jones ' s , Oliver Arms , Westbourne Terrace North , Harrow Road , on Tuesday , Bro . Major Reed W . M ., C . T . Brown W . M . 733 S . W ., G . Weaver J . W ., H . Dehane P . M . Preceptor , R . J . Rogers P . M . Treasurer , G . D . Mogford I . P . M . 2362 Secretary , Lilly S . D ., J . L . Miller J . D ., Barter I . The W . M . rehearsed the ceremony of initiation , Bro .. Busby candidate . The Lodge was called off and on , when the W . M . opened the Lodge in the second degree . Bro . Wortham was entrusted and the ceremony of raising was rehearsed , he acting as candidate . Both ceremonies were faultlessly rendered . Bro . Williams I . G . 733 was elected a member , and Bro . C . T . Brown W . M . 733 chosen as W . M . for next meeting . The annual dinner will take place on Tuesday , 23 rd inst .

WHITTINGTON LODGE , No . 862 . A VERY successful meeting was held on Wednesday , at Bro . Percy Day ' s , the Red Lion , Poppin ' s Court , Fleet Street , E C , when Bro . W . H . Latham acted as W . M ., with Bros . A . Clarkson S . W ., H . Kobelt J . W ., A . V . H . Pauncefort P . M . Preceptor , J . C . Tilt P . M . Secretary , Victor J . Wright S . D ., Percy Day J . D ., G . Hartley I . G ., S . H . Latham , H . E . Wtight , W . S . Wright , Wynman , Kemp , A . Collins , Edward H . Ridge , and others .

After formalities the W . M . worked the ceremony of initiation , which ceremony was most faultlessly rendered , to the satisfaction of all present . By desire of the W . M ., Bro . Kobelt , with the assistance of the Brethren , worked the first and second sections . Bro . E . H . Ridge was elected a member , and a hearty vote was put on the minutes for the excellent working of the W . M . Bro . Kobelt was elected W . M . for next week .

The annual supper of this Lodge is in course of arrangement ; due notice will be given of the date and other particulars .

EVENING STAR LODGE , No . 1719 . ON Saturday , 27 th ult ., the ceremony of installation was rehearsed by Bro . 0 . Woods , when there were present Bros . Woods W . M ., Coote S . W ., Coates J . W ., Beste Secretary , Ward S . D ., Brangwin J . D ., Manners I . G ., Speller P . M . P . P . G . D . Essex Preceptor , Thomas P . M ., Hunter P . M ., and others . Bro . Coote was candidate for installation . Bro . Wheatley rehearsed the investiture of Officers .

The ceremony of installation will bo rehearsed , in its entirety , at this Lodge of Instruction on Saturday , 27 th March .

BROMLEY ST . LEONARD LODGE , No . 1805 . AT the Bow Bells , Bow Road , on Wednesday , 3 rd inst ., Bro . I . Goulston W . M ., W . Boyce P . M . S . W ., Weeks J . W ., Goodman S . D ., W . Johnson J . D ., Butcher I . G ., J . De Casseres P . M . Preceptor , F . Thornton Sec , Marks , Holmes , Cuthbertson , Soar , Spencer , Burden , Alabaster , Panting , W . Joss , W . West .

The W . M . rehearsed the ceremony of initiation , Bro . Marks acting as candidate . The Brethren assisted Bro . Goulston to work the first , second , third and fourth sections of the lecture . The Lodge was opened in the second degree , and Bros . Soar , Cuthbertson , and West answered the questions leading to the third degree . Bro . Soar 2626 became a member of the Lodge , and Bro . PROVINCIAL .

HARMONY LODGE , No . 156 . THE members held their annual banquet at the Freemasons' Hall , Princess Square , Plymouth , on Thursday , 18 th ult . About seventy Brethren were present , and Bro . and Mrs . Batchelor , the steward and stewardess of the Club , catered so well for the company that during the evening the W . M . personally thanked Bro . Batchelor , in the name of the Lodge , for the admirable manner in which the dinner had been laid and served . Bro . C . S . Stebbing , who was recently elected as W . M . for a second term , presided .

Letters were read from Brethren from several parts of the Province , expressing regret at their inability to be present . The Provincial Grand Master the Hon . Sir Stafford Northcote , C . B ., M . P ., wrote to the W . M . — " It would have been a great pleasure to me to have accepted your kind invitation , but unfortunately I must remain in

London at present . May I ask you , however , to convey to the Brethren my sincere thanks for their kindness in sending me so cordial an invitation . Let me congratulate you personally on the high honour you have received at the hands of the Brethren in being called a second time to the chair . I feel sure they have made an excellent choice . "

The usual Masonic toasts were proposed . That of the Provincial Grand Master of Devon and Officers of the Grand Lodge present and past was proposed from the chair , and responded to by Bros . F . B . Westlake and J . B . Gover . Bro . Westlake once more called attention to the splendid work that was being done by the various Masonic charities in London , as well as in the Province of Devon , and make an earnest appeal to the Brethren to give all the support they could to those Institutions .

The health of the W . M . was proposed by Bro . Edwin T . Clemens S . W ., who spoke in warm terms of the valuable services Bro . Stebbing had rendered to the Lodge and the Masonic charities for many years past , and added that when the members of Lodge Harmony recently found themselves in a position , owing to unforseen circumstances , to elect Bro . Stebbing to the chair for a second time they gladly and readily availed themselves of the

opportunity . He was a W . M . of whom any Lodge might be proud , and certainly the present Officers of Harmony , and the Brethren as a whole , were proud to serve under him . Bro . Stebbing ' s influence as a Mason had always been exercised in the right direction , and that his services were appreciated was shown by the esteem in which he was held hy every Mason in the three towns .

Bro . Stebbing , in reply , said he had always aimed at doing what he could to promote the best interests of the Lodge in particular and of Freemasonry in general . He regarded Freemasonry as something far higher than a mere social club . It vvas capable of doing , and was doing , a great and glorious work , and ho regarded it as a great privilege to be able , in however humble a decree , to assist in this work .

Bro . Stebbing then presented Bro . Widger , the I . P . M ., with a handsome Past Master ' s gold jewel , in recognition of the able and dignified manner in which he had discharged the duties of W . M . during the past year . The Lodge had had a most successful year , and for this result they were largely indebted to Bro . Widger . Bro . Widger briefly acknowledged the gift , and other toasts followed .

. FORESTERS LODGE , No . 456 . THE festival of ' St . . John the Evangelist and installation of Bro . Dr . W . J . H . Fletcher took place at the Town Hall , Uttoxeter , on Thursday , 18 th ult . The Foresters Lodge has an interesting record , and its Warrant , dating from 1838 , places it sixth in point of seniority among the thirty-two Lodges of the Province of Staffordshire . As a point of special interest in

connection with the installation , it may be mentioned that Dr . Fletcher , the new Master , is son of Bro . Dr . W . Fletcher , who was Master of the Lodge in 1858 , and at the present time is one of the oldest Past Masters in the Province . Three of his seniors , still happily with us , are Bro . James Marson , who was Master of the Lodge of Fortitude ( now erased ) at Stafford , in 1836 ; Bro . S .

Hill , Master of the Etruscan Lodge , Longton , in 1851 ; and Bro . Frank James P . D . P . G . M . Master of St . Matthew Lodge , Walsall , in 1855 . Bro . Dr . W . Fletcher hoped to have been present at the installation of his son , but was prevented by indisposition , and it was also a matter for regret that Bro . H . Orton Goodwin , the retiring W . M ., was unable to be present from ___ like cause .

In the absence of Bro . Goodwin Bro . J . Payne Hall W . M . in 1874 , and first Master of St . Giles ' s Lodge , Cheadle , opened the Lodge . The installation ceremony was conducted by Bro . E . V . Greatbatch P . M . 418 I . P . M . 2487 P . P . G . S . W . Apologies expressing regret for absence were received from Bro . Lieut-Colonel Bindley Deputy Provincial Grand Master P . G . Deacon England , and others .

A cordial vote of thanks was accorded to Bro . Greatbatch for the admirable manner in which he conducted the installation ceremony , and a resolution of sympathy was passed with Bro . Orton Goodwin . Bro . W . Vernon presented a book on Masonry to the Lodge , and was thanked for the gift .

After the closing of the Lodgo , a banquet was held at the Cross Keys Hotel , under the presidency of the Worshipful Master , at which the usual toasts were honoured .

LODGE OF FAITH , No . 581 . A REGULAR meeting of this Lodge was held at the Gransmoor Hotel , Openshaw , on Wednesday , the 17 th ult ., Bro William Jones W . M , The principal business of the evening was that of passing Bros . Matthew Goth and Robert Hartley Beard to the degree of F . C , the first ceremony being performed by Bro . H . J . Harrison P . M ., the latter being undertaken by

Hill , Master of the Etruscan Lodge , Longton , in 1851 ; and Bro . Frank James P . D . P . G . M . Master of St . Matthew Lodge , Walsall , in 1855 . Bro . Dr . W . Fletcher hoped to have been present at the installation of his son , but was prevented by indisposition , and it was also a matter for regret that Bro . H . Orton Goodwin , the retiring W . M ., was unable to be present from ___ like cause .

In the absence of Bro . Goodwin Bro . J . Payne Hall W . M . in 1874 , and first Master of St . Giles ' s Lodge , Cheadle , opened the Lodge . The installation ceremony was conducted by Bro . E . V . Greatbatch P . M . 418 I . P . M . 2487 P . P . G . S . W . Apologies expressing regret for absence were received from Bro . Lieut-Colonel Bindley Deputy Provincial Grand Master P . G . Deacon England , and others .

A cordial vote of thanks was accorded to Bro . Greatbatch for the admirable manner in which he conducted the installation ceremony , and a resolution of sympathy was passed with Bro . Orton Goodwin . Bro . W . Vernon presented a book on Masonry to the Lodge , and was thanked for the gift .

After the closing of the Lodgo , a banquet was held at the Cross Keys Hotel , under the presidency of the Worshipful Master , at which the usual toasts were honoured .

LODGE OF FAITH , No . 581 . A REGULAR meeting of this Lodge was held at the Gransmoor Hotel , Openshaw , on Wednesday , the 17 th ult ., Bro William Jones W . M , The principal business of the evening was that of passing Bros . Matthew Goth and Robert Hartley Beard to the degree of F . C , the first ceremony being performed by Bro . H . J . Harrison P . M ., the latter being undertaken by
