On the motion of Colonel Creaton Treasurer , seconded by Comp . Joshua Nunn P . Dir . of Cers ., tho report of the Committee of General Purposes was taken as read , and ordered to be received and entered on the minutes . Tho report was as follows : —

C Boyd , Surgeon Major , was unanimously re-elected a member of tho Chapter after an absence of seven years in India on Medical Staff . Bro . J . T . Eobius P . M . Robert Burns Lodge No . 25 was duty exalted . The brethren
afterwards dined , and an enjoyable evening was passed . The M . E . Z . gave the usual R . A . toasts , and referred to the fact that Comp . Denton had travelled two hundred miles , 'from Yorkshire , to meet the Companions iu Chapter . This Chapter will not meet again till January 1881 .

rpilE annual convocation of this flourishing Chapter was held at the -L Masonic Hall on Friday , 29 th October , at three o'clok iu tho afternoon . The Companions assembled in full force from surrounding towns , and the greatest enthusiasm was manifested throughout the day . Tho Chapter having been opened by the Principals , M . E . Comps . Lamonby , Tyson , and Atkinson , the members were admitted ,
and the minntes read and confirmed . Tho M . E . Z . announced that tho next business was the installation of the Principals elect , and ho begged to call upon their old friend , E . Comp . John Bowes P . Z ., P . P . G . S . N ., to take the chair as Installing Principal . The following Companions wero then severally presented and installed , according to ancient custom , viz .: E . Tyron Z ., Atkinson H ., and Dalrymple J .
the cement was then applied to secure tho Royal Arch , aud tho solemn conclave closed . The Companions were then re-admitted , and the newly-installed Principals proclaimed , saluted and greeted . The other Officers for tho year wore invested and addressed bv the Install .
ing Principal , after which he pronounced the ancient benediction . E . Comp . Dr . Henry P . Z . said that their first duty was obviously to accord a vote of thanks to their old friend aud Companion , Bowes , for the masterl y manner in which ho had performed the ceremonies of tho day . It was well known that Comp . Bowes was a skilled craftsman , and that he was " at homo " at all times , and not only so , bat

readily rendered assistance whenever required . He proposed a voto of thanks to Comp . Bowes for his services , and requested that tho voto be placed on the minutes . E . Comp . Lamonby seconded tho proposition of Dr . Henry , and in doing so endorsed all that had been said by tho proposer . The M . E . Z ., Comp . Tyson , in supporting the vote , said that personally ho was under great obligations to Comp . Bowes
for coming , at great inconvenience to himself , to instal him that day . As to the ability of their Companion to work the ceremonies , he would not , because he need not , say a word ; but there wore personal considerations in connection with Comp . Bowes ' s visit to instal him which were very grateful to his feelings . Comp . Bowes was a friend of his late father , and ho had experienced many kindnossess from
him through a long period of years . The vote was carried by acclamation , and briefly acknowledged . Tho routine business being completed , the Chapter was closed , and the Companions adjourned to tho banquet . Grace before and after meat was said by the M . E . Z . After the cloth was withdrawn , the usual Loyal and Royal Arch toasts wero duly honoured , after which local toasts received duo consideration .
We were delighted with the enthusiasm which pervaded tho evening s proceedings . This Chapter is in good hands , and the nowly-installed and invested Officers , ono and all , seem determined to do thoir duty , and thereby to promote the best interests of Royal Arch Masonry . The proceedings were enlivened by a number of well-rendered songs and recitations . The Janitor ' s toast was drunk at nine o ' clock .

Z , Hobbs , the latter for his assistance to this new Chapter , the Companions separated at an early hour , having enjoyed a very happy evening together .
Boyal Cormibian Chapter , No . 331 . —Tho annual mooting was held at Truro , on 26 th ult ., the M . E . Z . W . Tweedy presiding . Comp . Tweedy was re-elected to tho office of M . E . Z ., no Companion being qualified below the rank of P . Z . to fill the first Principal ' s chair . Comps . J . H Ferris aud J . Hawker were installed as Second and
Third Principal Companions , W . D . Rogers Scribe E ., C . Bryant Scribo N ., Gray P . S ., aud Simmons Standard Bearer . Tho distribution of the other offices was postponed uutil tho next meeting Tho members afterwards adjourned to the Red Lion Hotel , where they were provided with a dinner .
