We learn from one of the tabular statements appended to the printed account of these Proceedings that the aggregate membership of tho Lodges in the District has
increased from 101 in 1877 , when the District Grand Lodge was organised under Bro . Thorne , to 154 at the close of 1883 , there being at the same time an increase of one in the number of the Lodges .

— : o : — NEW HALL FOR THE CHARLES WARREN LODGE . A MOST interesting and imposing ceremony took placo on 29 th October , the occasion being the laying of the fonndation or
corner-stone of the New Hall to be ereoted for the Charles Warren Lodge at Beaconsfleld . The preparations for this auspicious event in the history of local Freemasonry attracted unusual interest and it was not surprising , therefore , that a large company of ladies and gentlemen assembled in the enclosure round the site of the new building , which is about 100 yards from the Court House , and in the
immediate vicinity of the Catholic Chnrch and the Exploration Company ' s buildings . The members of the Charles Warren Lodge met in the Temple of the Peace and Harmony Lodge at Dntoitspan , and there the ceremony of declaring the Lodge in conclave was gone through . At the Court House , whither the members then proceeded , they were joined by
the Officers and many members of the Cosmopolitan , Octahedron ( Barkly ) , Eichard Giddy , and Athole Lodges . At four o ' clock the Lodges marehe'd in procession , with their banners , to the enclosure where their arrival was ongerly expected . The Masons , of whom there were a total of 116 present , formed around the three sides of the building , the Officers of the Charles Warren Lodge grouping
themselves on the remaining side . They included the following Masons : —Charles Aburrovv Worshipful Master , E . H . Blackboard Immediate Past Master , E . M . Connolly P . M ., J . C . Wylie P . M ., J . D . Norden P . M ., and the Eev . W . T . Gaul Chaplain , the Treasurer Bro . Somerset , and the Secretary . The Senior Warden of the Lodge ( Bro . A . S . Woodley ) , and the Junior Warden ( Bro . H . W . Hull ) were
each stationed with their jewels of office in the opposite corners of the building . The Masters of the other Lodges present were : —Bros . H . I . Campbell Peace aud Harmony , S . T . Solomon Cosmopolitan , Dn Toit Octahedron , J . D . Foster Eichard Giddy , and J . Hampton jun . Athole . A beautiful little miniature model of a corner-stone , in marble , and its lowering apparatus , was placed near the stone which
was the raison d ' etre of tho impressive gathering . The banner of the Charles Warren Lodge bears the arms of the founder , Colonel Sir Charles Warren , and underneath the inscription " Leo De Juda Eobur est Nostrum . " The brotherhood having gathered round the building in the manner above related , the opening hymn was sung .
Bro . R . M . Connolly P . M . then addresaed a few introductory remarks . The Chaplain read a short lesson from Holy Writ , followed by prayer , and this wa 3 succeeded by another hymn . Directed by the Past Master , the Secretary ( Bro . E . Withycombe ) read the following Scroll , to be placed under the stono together with a number of coins of the realm of the present day : —

GOD SAVE THE QUEEN ! A collection , which gave as a result the sum of £ 65 , was made , and J . C . Wylie P . M . gave a short r & sumd of the history of the Lodge , which was founded in 1879 , since which period 70 Masons havo been inaugurated by it . A hymn followed , after which three cheers for Her Majesty the Queen were given , and the band also played the National Anthem . The ceremony over , the different Masters of the Lodges participating in it congratulated their brethren of the Charles

DE LA POLE CONCLAVE , No . 132 , HULL . THIS flourishing and popular Conclave held its annual installation meeting on the 26 th ult . Past Sov . Sir Kt . G . Wilson ( in tho absence of the M . P . S . Sir Knight Gillett through illness ) presided . After the muster roll had been called , the minntes of the previous Conclave were read and confirmed . Eminent Sir Knight J . R . Ansdell P . Sovereign assumed the ohair . A College of Viceroya was formed , and opened , and Sir Knight Dr . Cooper ( who had filled the office of
Standard Bearer daring the previous year ) , was presented , consecrated , and invested as Viceroy Eusebius for the ensuing year . Subsequently , a S- 'nate being called , Eminent Sir Knight A . P . CONSECRATION OP THE GALLERY CHAPTER . A MOST interesting Masonic event took place on Saturday after , noon , 29 th nit ., at the Brixton Hall , Acre-lane , Brixton , on the occasion of the consecration of a new Royal Arch Chapter , to be attached to the Gallery Lodge , whioh during its three year ' s existence has attained a success which its most ardent promoters oould scarcely havo anticipated , as its members are exclusively composed
of gentlemen engaged on the London newspaper press . With a view of rendering the original intention more extended and complete , so that the members of the Lodge might have an opportunity of par * ticipating in the Supreme Degree of Freemasonry , a petition was presented to the Supreme Grand Chapter for a warrant for a Royal Arch Chapter to be attached to the Gallery Lodge , and this request
was at once granted . As above stated , last Saturday was appointed for the consecration , and Comp . Colonel Shadwell Clerke G . S . E . consented to act as the Consecrating Officer , he having performed a similar duty at the consecration of the Gallery Lodge , being assisted by the Eminent Comp . Capt . N . G . Philips as H ., Comps . Drysdale as J ., and Frank Richardson P . G . A . S . as Director of Ceremonies .
Comp . the Rev . Ambrose W . Hall P . G . A . S . intended to take part in the ceremony , but was suddenly prevented from doing so by severe indisposition . The three Principals designate in the Warrant of Constitution were Comp 3 . J . Henwood Thomas P . Z . 657 M . E . Z ., Henry Massey P . Z . 619 H ., Thoma 3 Minstrell 1507 J . There was a goodly number of Royal Arch Mssons present , who had received
invitations . The musical arrangements were under the direction of Comp . John Eoed . The Companions having assembled in an anteroom , the Principals pro tern and the other Principals Past and Present entered the Chapter-room , and the new Chapter was then formally opened and the rest of the Companions were admitted . The Ccnsecrating Officer having addressed the Companions on the
nature of the meeting , S . E . pro tern stated the wishes of the Companions and the steps they had taken with respect to the Chapter . In consequence of the illness of Comp . the Rev . Ambrose Hall , the customary oration was omitted . The usual anthems having been snug aud portions of Scripture read , the Consecrating Officer , after observing the usual rites , constituted the Chapter in ancient form ,
aud with the Patriarchal Benediction the ceremony was brought to a close . This was followed by tho installation of the Principals , Comps . Thomas M . E . Z ., Massey H ., and Minstrell J . The following were the other appointments : — Comps . Duckworth S . E ., Albury Treasurer , Dr . Griffiths P . S ., and John While S . N . The first act of the M . E . Z . was to propose that the thanks of tho Cbapier should be given to the
Consecrating Officers for their valuable services on this occasion , and that they Bhonld be elected honorary members of the Chapter , together with Coinp . Meredith of the Snpreme Chapter of Ireland . Comp . H . Massey H . seconded the motion , whioh was unanimously agreed to . Comp . Shadwell H . Clerke and the other Consecrating Officers suitably acknowledged the compliment whioh had been paid
them , each expressing the pleasure which he experienced in rendering any service on this interesting occasion . On the motion of the M . E . Z ., it was agreed that the members should form a Committee to draw up a code of Bye-laws for the government of the Chapter . The S . E . then read out a list of eight names of members of the Gallery
Lodge , who were candidates for exaltation in the Chapter , and a meeting of emergency was arrauged to bo held for that purpose . The Chapter was closed and the Companions adjourned to a banquet , after which the usual Royal Arch toasts were given and responded to . Tho proceedings of the evening were ino 3 t harmonious , and augured well for the success of the new Chapter in the future .
