Oades '

usual correct and impressive manner . Tho Lodgo was opened in the second degree , when the AV . M . resigned his gavel into the hands of the Installing Master Bro . Moxhay , and proceeded to introduce Bro . Bradley S . W . as tho AV . M . elect , and as his successor to receive at his hands the benefit of installation . We have so often had the pleasure of describing Bro . Moxhay ' s beautiful ritual of installation ,

that wo shall only say that he was quite as good , or better , than usual . The Antient Charges having been recited and responded to , and the Lodge having been opened in tho third degree , when all but P . M . ' s retired , the Board of Past Masters waa declared duly formed , and Bro . Bradley was , with the accustomed ceremonies , placed in the chairofK . S ., and proceeded to invest as hia I . P . M . Bro . Oades .

The Lodge was resumed in the third degree , and again to the second and first , after the usual salutations in each degree had been given , under the direction of Bro . Ivey P . M . and Secretary 1101 , who officiated on this occasion aa D . C . The vocal and instrumental music greatly added to the beauty and solemnity of tho ceremonies , the former by Broa . Hounslow , R . Bradley , and Stallwood , and the latter

by Bro . Davis Organist . After proclamations and the excellent addresses by the Installing Master and the investment of Officers , the Lodge was closed , and the brethren retired for refreshment to the George Hotel , where an elegant banquet was sefc down to by about fifty brethren . The usual Loyal and Masonic toasts were given and responded to , each toast being accompanied by appropriate music and

singing . The Masonic Charities waa given by Bro . Bracher , who made a fervent appeal to the brethren to support those noble Charities , which wero the real ornament of the Craft ; he also urged the case of Bro . Leaver , who had faithfully served the office of Secretary of the Lodge for upwards of thirty years , and alluded to the Steward - ship of Bro . Charles Stephens S . W . and Bro . F . Ferguson S . D ., who

would represent tho Lodge afc the forthcoming Featival of the R . M . B . I . During this address tho broken column was passed round , and received tho contributions of tho brethren , the result of which was very satisfactory to the Treasurer . Tho toast of the Installing Master produced a round of applause . Bro . Moxhay , in responding , was most happy in his expressions , giving caution to the newl y

initiated not to be led astray by thoso who call themselves Masons , for the purpose of obtaining the coin out of their purses , and who live upon mendicity ; they should always be referred to tho Almoner , who would see thafc they were nob neglected if they proved themselves worthy ; he also dropped some useful hints to the brethren generally , upon the subject of temperance . AV . M . elect was then presented by Bro . A . Lucking P . M . 160 , P . M . and P . Z . 1000 , Prov . G . D . C , to tho outgoing AV . M . for the benefit of Installation , who proceeded to instal his successor in fche chair , which ceremony was performed in a mosfc effective and impressive manner . M . complimented him on the highly efficient manner in which ho had installed hia

successor , and presented him with a P . M . 's jewel in recognition of the valuable services he had rendered the Lodge as AV . M . during the pasfc year . Bro . Rev . S . R . Wigram responded to the toast of the Masonio Charities , and made an eloquent appeal to tho brethren on behalf of thoso deserving Institutions , nnd announced hia intention of serving as Steward for tho Benevolent , and also for the Boya' School , at the approaching Festivals . The Tyler's toast brought the proceedings to

Messrs . Hill , Thierry , and Bell

were duly initiated into the Order . Bro . AV . Robinson S . W . and AV . M . elecfc waa presented to the Lodge , and duly installed into the chair by the retiring AV . M . Bro . G . Robinson spoke of tho excellent manner in which Bro . West had performed the ceremony of installation ; in tho name of the Lodge he presented him with a very elegant gold P . M . ' a jewel for the efficient ; manner he had discharged the duties of the chair during his year of office . The toasfca of the Wardens , Visitors , P . M . 's , and Officers , in dno conrse were proposed and appropriately responded to .
