the other , a stirring song and chorus , entitled " Tho Raid , " the words of which are by Bro . J . E . Muddook and the music composed by Bro . A . T . Dnvivier ; both were greeted with loud applause . It was late before the W . M . called for the Tyler ' s toast , which brought this pleasant evening to an agreeable termination .

Covent Garden Lodgo of Instruction , No . 1614 . — The weekly meeting of this Lodge waa held at the Criterion , Piooadilly , on the 29 th nit ., when there were preaent : —Bros . Bergholtz W . M ., Foan S . W ., Reynolds J . W ., Greenway Preceptor , Burgess ( acting as Secretary ) , Hnrnell S . D ., Buxton J . D ., Seary Organist , Rowe I . G ., Hoggins , Warwick , Cursons , and others . The Lodge was

opened in due form , and tho minntes of tho last mooting were road and confirmed . Bro . Cursons offered himself as a candidate for initiation . The W . M . rehearsed tho ceremony . Bro . Burgesa worked the first section and Bro . Buxton tho second section of the first leotnre . Bro . Foan S . W . was unanimously elected W . M . for the ensuing week , and appointed his Officers in rotation . Bro . Burgess ( acting Secretary ) proposed that a vote of sympathy be aent to

Bro . Reynolds , their worthy Secretary , who was suffering from a sad accident , cordially wishing for his speedy recovery , and that he would shortly resume his duties , tho vote to be entered on the minutes . This , on being seconded by Bro . Foan , was carried unanimously . Bro . Greenway thanked the brethren for his election to the post of Preceptor , and assured them he would strive to make the Covent Garden Lodge of Instrnction a great success . The Lodge waa opened in dne form , and the ceremony of initiation rehearaed in a perfect and impreaaive manner , Bro . Biahop acting aa candidate . The Lodge was called off for refreshment , and when it had been dnly called on Bro . Fortescue ( Treasurer ) delivered the

ancient charge in such excellent style as to elicit the highest commendation from the Preceptor , who moved that a very hearty and cordial vote of thanks should be accorded to him and entered npon the minutes . The Brethren were very pleased to hear that our genial Secretary Bro . Allen has returned to bnsiness , and has apparently nearly recovered from his long and severe illnsss . Bros . . Freemasonry at the ensning Lodge meeting at the Saracen s Head Hotel , Dunmow , Essex , on Wednesday , 25 th inst . This will be the second visit of Bro . Stevens to the Rosslyn Lodge in his capacity of lecturer , and a full attendance of members aud visitors is anticipated .

Slingsby Roberta for the Prov . Grand Lodge Present and Paat . Bro . R . Willard , in proposing the Worshipful Master , aaid he had experienced the pleasare of working with Bro . Lamette in several degrees of Masonry for the paat nine

years , and never met a more enthusiastic Mason . Ha could nob speak too highly of him , and was convinced that he wonld prove one of the beat Worshipful Masters it was poaaible for the Lodge to have . Bro . Lamette , on rising to respond , waa very warmly received . He thanked Bro . Willard for the very kind manner in whioh he had spoken of him . All hia dutiea in Masonry were to him , he aaid , a

labour of love . It gave him the greatest possible pleasure to attend to the dutiea of the various degrees with whioh he waa associated , and , as long aa he lived , he would oontinne hia devotion to Masonry . He would especially do his utmost to faithfully discharge his dutiea aa Worshipful Master dnring the coming year . He then proposed the Past Masters of the Lodge , to which Bro . Willard responded .

The W . M . next gavo the Worshipfnl Masters of tbe Mark Lodgea of the Province of Sussex , which received acknowledgment from Bros . Duke and Lewis . The Visiting Brethren , submitted by the W . M ., was responded to by Bros . King , Billing , Butler , and Wright . The remaining toasts were the Officers of the Lodge , acknowledged

Lamette , on rising to respond , waa very warmly received . He thanked Bro . Willard for the very kind manner in whioh he had spoken of him . All hia dutiea in Masonry were to him , he aaid , a

labour of love . It gave him the greatest possible pleasure to attend to the dutiea of the various degrees with whioh he waa associated , and , as long aa he lived , he would oontinne hia devotion to Masonry . He would especially do his utmost to faithfully discharge his dutiea aa Worshipful Master dnring the coming year . He then proposed the Past Masters of the Lodge , to which Bro . Willard responded .

The W . M . next gavo the Worshipfnl Masters of tbe Mark Lodgea of the Province of Sussex , which received acknowledgment from Bros . Duke and Lewis . The Visiting Brethren , submitted by the W . M ., was responded to by Bros . King , Billing , Butler , and Wright . The remaining toasts were the Officers of the Lodge , acknowledged

by Bros . Buckwell , Tooth , Bonnett , and Ttsbbs , and the Tylers toast . During tho evening vocal selections were given , nnder the direction of Bro . Roe Prov . Grand Organist , by Miss Minnie Freeman , Misa Amy Freeman , Bros . Willard , Cole , Cully and Slingsby Roberts .
