THE annual meeting of the Provincial Grand Lodge was held , on the 26 th ult ., in tbe Town Hall , Bishop Auckland . There was a large attendance , tho chair being occupied by Sir Hedworth Williamson , Barf ., Prov . G . M . The report of the Treasurer , Bro . 0 . F . Sutcliffe , and of tho

Fund Committee read by Bro . C . D . Hill Drury P . G . S . W ., recommending grants to Masonic Institutions and to private applicants were confirmed . The Treasurer ' s statement showed , with balance from September 1892

£ 353 16 s lid , a total of receipts £ 812 5 s 4 d , disbursements £ 459 12 s 5 d , balance in bank £ 352 12 s lid . The Provincial Grand Maater in the couse of an interesting address spoke in high terms of the satisfactory progress

Masonry was making in the Province . Tho election of Treasurer for the year resulted in the return of Bro . Isaac Thompson , of the Barnard Lod ^ e . Tho Provincial Gran d Master invested his Officers and P . G . Lodge waa closed .

CONSECRATION , HATHERTON LODGE .

ON Thursday , the 28 th ult ., this new Lodge , No . 2474 , was consecrated at the Stork Hotel , Walsall , by Bro . E . Letchworth Grand Secretary , who was assisted by Brothers J . H . Matthews , Lieut-Col . Bentley D . P . G . M . Staffordshire , W . J . Whittall P . G . S . W ., R . Daiu P . G . S . W .,

S . W . Wickham Jones P . P . G . C . as Chap ., and F . Richardson P . G . D . as D . of C . There was a large attendance of distinguished brethren , among them being Lord

Hatherton . The first Officers of the Lodge are Brothers F . W . Willmore W . M ., C . Taylor S . W ., and W . Paine J . W . The brethren subsequently proceeded from labour to refreshment .

The authorities of the Grand Lodge of New Zealand , considering it necessary to defend themselves against misleading statements in regard to their position , have issued the following particulars in regard to their composition : — " English Lodges joined 42 , Scotch 26 , Irish 9 , New

Lodges opened 9 , making a total of 86 Lodges on the roll of the Grand Lodge of New Zealand on 1 st January 1893 . Since then two more Lodges of the Scotch Constitution have thrown their lot in with the movement , and three new Lodges have been opened , making in all 91 Lodges ,

but as an English and a Scotch Lodge amalgamated , the actual nnmerical record is 90 Lodges . The total number of Lodges of other Constitutions does not exceed 50 . " At a recent meeting of the Grand Lodge it was stated the balance sheet of tho Benevolent Fund showed that after

rendering substantial assistance to the needs of all constituents , a credit balance of £ 465 remained , while tho widows' and orphans' fund credit balance was £ 70 8 s lid , also that during the three years' existence of the Grand Lodge 800 candidates had been initiated .

then , in eulogistic terms , referred to the services rendered not only to the Lodge , bnt to tho tiwn generally , and . stated that Bro . Veevers waa held in high estimation b ;> th as a public man and us an Officer of the Lodge . Bros . Bromley , J . E . Smith S . W ., T . Woolfenden P . M ., and ethers also testified to tho gcol'ieeling existing

TYRIAN LODGE , No . 253 . THE members held their annual festival at the Masonio TTall , Derby , on tho 26 th nit ., when Brother Edward M'Innes S . W . was installed by his predecessor , Bro . H . V . Edwards ? .

CONSTITUTIONAL LODGE , No . 294 .

ON Thursday , 14 th ult ., the members celebrated the Centenary of this Lodge nt the Masonic Hall , Beverley . Additional interest waa given to the proceedings by the installation of Bro . the Earl of Londesborough P . M . P . G . W . of England aa Worshipful Master . The attendance of brethren was large , and included representstires from all the sister Lodges in Hull and district . The

installation ceremony was ably performed by Bro . Tom Turner P . M . ( Mayor of Beverley ) and Bro . M . M . Woaterby P . M ., who rendered tho ritual in a gratifying manner . A vote of thanks was duly accordod these -worthy Past Masters for their efficient ( services . It may bo mentioned that the Lodge was consecrated on Monday , 13 th Juno

1793 , on which occasion threa mombers from tho Hull Minerva Lodge were present . In commemoration of the present memorable occasion , it is interesting to note that tho brethren of tho Liberty Lodge , Beverley , Mass ., U . S . A ., have forwarded a solid silver loving , onp , weighing 55 0 Z 3 ., which was handed over to tho nobla Earl by

Bro . Harry Adams , and accepted by tho Master . It was resolved to forward an illuminated letter of thanks to tho American brethren , in acknowledgment of their handsome gift . Bro . W . Kemp read a short resume from the records of the Lodge during the past 100 year ? , several of the items being of a very

amusing character . The qaaint wood block used on the front page of the summons calling the Centenary celebration was prepared for the Lodge in 1806—87 years ago . On the proposition of Bro . T Marshall , a hearty vote of thanks was accorded to Bro . Kemp for hia interesting paper . Hearty good wishes having been recorded from tho Provincial

Grand Lodge , Minerva , Kingston , Do la Pole , Wilberforce , Londesborongh , Constitutional , and others , the Lodge was closed . At the conclusion of the ceremony , Bro . B . T . Watson took an excellent photographic group of the noble Lord and his newlyappointed Officers . At six o ' clock the Centenary banquet was purvoyed , at the Beverley Arms Hotel , by Bro . David Morley the D . C . of the Lodgo .

PANMURE LODGE , No . 720 .

rpHE regular meeting of this Lodge was held at Balham Hotel , on X- the 18 th nit ., when there were present Bro . G . Mulley W . M ., and a large number of other members and visitors . The ballot was taken for Mr . E . W . Stuart , and profed in his favour . Bro . H . Curzon was passed . A discussion took place respecting an appeal for those who have

met with such distress at Worthing . It was decided to ronsider the matter at the regular meeting in November , when it would be possible to know what other Lodges would do . Mr . Horace W . Dunlop was propoaed as a candidate for initiation ,

and no other business presenting itself , refreshment was partaken of under the supervision of Bros . G . Lilley P . M . and G . K . Huntley . Bro . W . Williams presided at the piano , and was aided in adding to the harmony of the meeting by Brothers Wheeler , A . Leonard , and others .

UNITY LODGE , No . 1332 .

THE members have elected Bro . F . W . Butt S . W . to be W . M . for the ensuing year ; have re-elected Bro . James Tern pletnn P . P . G . T . as Treasnrer , and Bro . Wollacott as Tyler . Tho annual installation end banqnet will be held on St . Michael ' s day .
