THE installation meeting of this Lodge was held on Thursday , the 28 th nit ., at the Cannon Street Hotel . The W . M . of the past year Brother George Frederick Edwards was early in attendance , and the Lodge was formally opened at the time named on the summons . Among those present were Bros . F . G . Barns W . M . elect , W . Jerrett Miller P . M . ( Treasurer ) , W . Worrell P . M .

( Secretary ) , P . M . ' s W . F . Smart , A . Le Grand , W . J . Collens , E . Kidman , W . T . Heath . Amongst the Visitors were Bros . T . E , Parrell I . G . 960 , Lieut-Col . H . confirmed , the report of the audit committee was received and adopted . Bro . A . E . Samuel ] , a candidate for the second degree , was then introduced , and successfully passed his examination . He was entrusted , and then left the Lodge . After advancement , the

candidate was re-admitted , and the ceremony of passing was worked on his behalf , thus giving him the opportunity to take his place as a Fellow Craft Freemason . The W . M . elect , Bro . F . G . Barns , C . C ., was then presented , and Bro . Edwards commenced the ceremony of installation . In due course the Board of Installed Masters were

called upon to assist , and Bro . Barns was regularly installed into the chair of the Lodge . On the re-admission of the brethren the new W . M . was proclaimed and sainted by the brethren in the three degrees . The investment of Officers followed , the brethren named being chosen for their respective offices : —Bros . G . F . Edwards

Beagle D . C ., R . C . Wilson A . D . C ., E . Kidman P . M . Steward , M . Woolf Assistant Steward , Louis Reinhardt Tyler . The first duty of the W . M . was to present to his predecessor the

elegant jewel of the Lodge . This had been voted at the last meeting , and the W . M in making the presentation to Bro . Edwards congratulated him on the admirable way in which he had conducted the

business of the Ledge during the past year . The brethren with the most perfect unanimity had voted the jewel , and he ( Bro . Barns ) had great pleasure in being the medium for its presentation . The jewel bore the following inscription : —

Presented to Bro . G . F . EDWARDS P . M . By the Brethren of the WILLIAM PRESTON LODGE , NO . 766 , To evince their appreciation of his efficient services whilst presiding over them as W . M . for the year 18 S 8-90 . The compliment was modestly but gracefully acknowledged by Bro .

Edwards , who assured tho brethren that his interest in the welfare of the Lodge would be sustained BO long as he was associated with Freemasonry . We may mention here that Bro . Edwards was also made the recipient of a Past Master ' s collar and jewel ; this was inscribed as under : —

Presented to Bro . G . F . EDWARDS P . M . By the Members of the WILLIAM PRESTON LODGE , NO . 766 . Nov . 28 th 1889 . The other business of the evening comprised the election as a re-join ing member of Bro . John Greenslade . Mr . George Pearce , a can

didate for initiation , who was proposed by Bro . F . G . Barns and seconded by Bro . W . Worrell , successfully underwent the ordeal of ballot , and was initiated by bis old friend the new W . M . A letter of condolence was ordered to be sent to Bro . Hutchinson , who had recently lost his wife . The W . M . announced that a " Lady's Night "

would be celebrated early in the new year , and after some other matters had received attention , Lodgo was closed . The banquet was served in the Pillar Hall , under the superintendence of the new proprietors of the Cannon Street Hotel , and gave the greatest satisfaction to all who Bat down . On tho removal of tho cloth

the loyal toasts were briefly given , and the brethren did them full honour . In speaking of the Pro G . Master , tho D . G . Master and the rest of the Grand Officers Present and Past , the W . M . dilated on the zeal and ability shown by our Masonic rulers . It was perhaps a matter for regret that the accommodation provided at Freemasons '

Hall did not meet the requirements of the brethren at all times , notably when the election of Grand Treasurer took place . This , however , did not militate against tho services rendered by the Grand Officers , who were over ready to advance the best interests of Freemasonry . Bro . Henry Garrod Past Grand Pursuivant replied .

Bro . Salmon , C . C ., was also called upon ; he advocated a subsidiary Grand Lodge , or its equivalent , for Loudon . Bro . Salmon also made reference to the ability displayed by the W . M . in initiating the candidate of tho evening . Bro . G . F . Edwards proposed tho health of the Worshipful Master . During his term of office the presiding

Officer is essentially the fountain head , and in tho William Preston , so far as regards Bro . Barns , there could be no question as to hiacapnbility to provide for tho welfare and happiness of tho brethren . In reply , Bro . Barns felt ho could scarcely command a supply of words , but he felt animated by a strong desire to carry out bis duties in a satisfactory manner . The brethren wero to a certain degree

sponsors tor him , inasmuch as they wero responsible for Laying placed him in his presont exalted position . Ho could assure them their confidence should merit his highest consideration , aid he

trusted to give them , one raid all , satisfaction . At ibis stago of the proceedings the Charity Box war , passed round , and £ 1 Is Gd was realised . This sum was devoted to the assistance of Mrs . Ramsay , a lady with whom tho William Preaton Lodgo cviuco a va 3 t amount

of sympathy in her misfortunes . The health of the I . P . M . was the next toast . The brethren would all agree with , him ( the W . M . ) when he said they had had a very enjoyable year . Bro . Edwards had never lost an opportunity of promoting the comforts of his brethren , and those who were associated with him in the battle

of life . He had striven , successfully striven , to advance the Lodge , and his endeavours had been eminently satisfactory . The compliment was suitably acknowledged by Bro . Edwards . The health of the Initiato was the next toast ; tho W . M . trusted that he would become one of the lishts of the William Preston Lodge .

He ( the W . M . ) had been an old companion of their Initiate ; they had known each other since they were boys . Their Initiate was no chicken ; this year ho had celebrated his jubilee birthday , and he , his old friend , looked forward to do the same next year . Bro . Barns said he was intensely gratified in being privileged to initiate Bro . G .

Pearce into the William Preston Lodgo . After reply bid been made , the Visitors were complimented , and Bros . Morley , Hawkins , Morgan , and others responded . For tho Treasurer and Sf . 'cro ' ary Bro . Miller

replied , and the S . W . and J . W . responded f r i he toast given in their honour . The proceedings wero enlivened « ' i somo good songs , and it was at a late hour that the Tyler brought thia successful meeting to a olose .

ROBINSON LODGE , No . 2040 .

ON Wednesday , the 13 th nit ., the installation meeting was hold , by kind permission of the Mayor ( J . Clifford , Esq . ) , in tho Maidstone Town Hall . This Masonio event is always looked forward to with interest by many of the leading Masons of the Province of Kent , and this year the presence of the Depnty Provincial Grand Master Bro . Smith Eastes added special importance to tho gathering .

Bro . T . I . Barden was the W . M . eleot , and ho was dnly installed into the chair of the Lodge by his predecessor Bro . J . Beavis Groom , who performed the interesting ceremony in a very impressive manner . Bros . G . T . Ker and D . Walsh took the Wardens' chairs , and Bro . F . W . Wright P . M . admirably filled the office of Director of

Ceremonies . After the iustallntion , the Worshipful Master , Bro . T . I . Barden , presented to Bro . J . Beavis Groom , on behalf of the Lodge , a valuable Past Master's jewel as a merm-nto of services rendered the Lodgo during his term of office . Thorn was a very large attendance of tho brethren of tho Lodge , and among the

visitors , in addition to Bro . Smith Eastes D . P . G . M ., and Bro . Alfred Spencer Provincial Grand Secretary for Kent , wero Bros . G . F . Baker W . M . 503 , Atkinson W . M . 2305 , G . Baker P . M . 503 , A . B . Urmston J . W . 1725 , Wallis P . M . 503 , Elmore P . M . 503 , Foord P . M . 503 , Silaa Wagon P . M . 1063 , F . Gordon P . M . 1063 , J . H . Clarke P . At 5 . 30 p . m . the brethren adjourned to tho Bell Hotel , where a sumptuous banquet was supplied by Mr . W . W . Frost . Bro . Barden W . M . presided , and he was supported on his right by Bros . Eastes and Spencer . After the

banquet the usual Loyal and Masonic toasts followed . Bro . Eastes in his speech , paid a high compliment to the very Worshipful Bro . the Rev . T . Robinson , after whom the Lodgo is named . His remarks were received with great applause . Songs were sung in capital stylo by Bros . R < ibscn , Taverner , Ellis , Jenkinson , and

THE usnal monthly meeting of this Lodge was held at the Peck , ham Public Hall , on Wednesday , the 13 th ult ., under the presidency of the W . M . Bro . Frederick Dunn , assisted by his Officers , at which Bro . H . E . Reed was raised to tho sublime degree of a Master Mason , find Dr . Johnston , M . R . C . S ., was initiated into

the Craft . A ballot was taken for several joining members , and propositions received for ' joining the Lodge and for initiation . Among the visitors present we noticed Bros . Abrahams W . M . 72 , Penny P . M . 1679 , aud G . C . May 1901 .

Prosperity Lodge of Instruction , No . 65 . —This Lodge of Instruction having removed from the Hercules Tavern , Leadenball Street , to tho City Arms Tavern , St . Mary Axe , the members celebrated the event , and opeued the new senson with a supper , on Tuesday evening of Inst week , under tho presidency of Bro . Geo . Haller , Worshipful Master of the Mother Lodge . Among tho 3 e present were

tho following Past Masters of the Prosperity : —Bros . Daniel , Ferry , Chicken , Roborts , Dyson , and Walker , and , in addition , a number of members of tho Lodge of Instruction . Tho repast having been partaken of , tho W . M . proceeded with the toasts of the evening , commencing with that of tho Queen and tho Craft , which was suitably

introduced aud duly honoured . Bro . Daniel was entrusted with the toast of tho Acting Master , Bro . Haller . Bro . Daniel considered the duty entrusted to him was an important one—it wa 3 really the most important toast of tho evening . Speaking to mombers of the Prosperity Lodgo of Instruction , he felt sure they were all aware of the

ability of tho brother who was that evening presiding over them , while ho could vouch for his efficiency in tho mother Lodge . That evening ' s gathering reminded him of the old days of the Prosperity Lodge of Instruction , which be was pleased to see going on so auspiciously . T ; : 0 meeting that day was a poor oue compared with what

they had expected , so many who had promised to attend were not present , but as they had given financial support to the gathering they had shown their appreciation of what was beiug done , and their desire to co-operato in the good work , which all hoped would be continued in tho Prosperity Lodge of Instruction , both under its present chief sad those who succeded him , Bro , Haller suitably replied , He was

THE usnal monthly meeting of this Lodge was held at the Peck , ham Public Hall , on Wednesday , the 13 th ult ., under the presidency of the W . M . Bro . Frederick Dunn , assisted by his Officers , at which Bro . H . E . Reed was raised to tho sublime degree of a Master Mason , find Dr . Johnston , M . R . C . S ., was initiated into

the Craft . A ballot was taken for several joining members , and propositions received for ' joining the Lodge and for initiation . Among the visitors present we noticed Bros . Abrahams W . M . 72 , Penny P . M . 1679 , aud G . C . May 1901 .

Prosperity Lodge of Instruction , No . 65 . —This Lodge of Instruction having removed from the Hercules Tavern , Leadenball Street , to tho City Arms Tavern , St . Mary Axe , the members celebrated the event , and opeued the new senson with a supper , on Tuesday evening of Inst week , under tho presidency of Bro . Geo . Haller , Worshipful Master of the Mother Lodge . Among tho 3 e present were

tho following Past Masters of the Prosperity : —Bros . Daniel , Ferry , Chicken , Roborts , Dyson , and Walker , and , in addition , a number of members of tho Lodge of Instruction . Tho repast having been partaken of , tho W . M . proceeded with the toasts of the evening , commencing with that of tho Queen and tho Craft , which was suitably

introduced aud duly honoured . Bro . Daniel was entrusted with the toast of tho Acting Master , Bro . Haller . Bro . Daniel considered the duty entrusted to him was an important one—it wa 3 really the most important toast of tho evening . Speaking to mombers of the Prosperity Lodgo of Instruction , he felt sure they were all aware of the

ability of tho brother who was that evening presiding over them , while ho could vouch for his efficiency in tho mother Lodge . That evening ' s gathering reminded him of the old days of the Prosperity Lodge of Instruction , which be was pleased to see going on so auspiciously . they had expected , so many who had promised to attend were not present , but as they had given financial support to the gathering they had shown their appreciation of what was beiug done , and their desire to co-operato in the good work , which all hoped would be continued in tho Prosperity Lodge of Instruction , both under its present chief sad those who succeded him , Bro , Haller suitably replied , He was
