THE Quarterly Communication of Grand Mark Lodge of England was held on Tuesday evening , at Mark Masons ' Hall . The Earl of Euston Pro Grand Master presided . Viscount Dungarvan Deputy Grand Master , W . W . B . Beach , M . P ., Past Grand Master , Rear-Admiral Markham , Baron de Ferrieres ,
Captain N . G . Philips , 0 . H . Driver , R . Loveland Loveland , Dr . Balfour Cockburn , Gordon Miller , R . Clowes , and a large number of other Brethren supported the M . W . Pro Grand Master . The report of the General Board was adopted , and the different grants recommended were confirmed .
Bro . R . Percy Clowes , B . A ., nominated His Royal Highness the Prince of Wales M . W . G . M . for re-election as Grand Master .
He said His Royal Highness had done much for Freemasonry in general , and had ruled over this Degree so long that he felt assured that the Brethren knew so well what he had done that it would be unbecoming on hia part to tell them what they already knew . He therefore simply nominated the Prince of Wales as Grand Master for the ensuing year .
Bros . George Everett , Thomas Charles Walls , and Major Clifford Probyn were nominated for election as Treasurer , after which Grand Lodge was closed in ample form .

THE Provincial Grand Lodge of Mark Master Masons of Kent was held , under the auspices of the United Service Lodge , No . 69 , at the Masonic Temple , New Brompton , on Monday , 25 th ult ., under the presidency of Bro . the Rev . Hayman Cummings D . Prov . G . M . M . Past Grand Chaplain of England .
Nearly all the Mark Lodges in the Province were represented . In his opening address the Deputy Provincial Grand Master remarked that although he had been unanimously nominated by the Province to be the Grand Master , he had , from well understood reasons , requested that his name might not be submitted
to the Prince of Wales , and until His Royal Highness ' s pleasure was known it would be bis duty to rule the Province until the Grand Mastership had been filled up . This announcement , which came as a great surprise , occasioned much regret among the assembled Brethren , as it bad been generally believed that the Reverend Brother would accept the vacant appointment .
Among the business transacted was the announcement that a sum of £ 400 had been contributed by Provincial Grand Lodge of Kent to the Mark Benevolent Fund , in addition to £ 2 , 000 subscribed by the Mark Masons of Kent to the same funds . After other business of the Lodge had been transacted , the

THE installation of Bro . James F . W . Morris , who had been unanimously elected Worshipful Master , took place in the Lodge Room at the King ' s Head Hotel , Rochester , on Wednesday , 27 th ult ., on which occasion there was a full attendance of the members , with Visiting Brethren from Gravesend , New Brompton , and other places in the Province . The St . Andrew Lodge ( named after the Patron Saint of Rochester ) is in a flourishing condition , says the " Rochester Journal . "
The ceremony of installing the new Master was performed by Biother T . S . Warne P . P . S . G . W . An interesting feature of the after-installation proceedings was the presentation oi a Past Master ' s jewel to Brother H . S . Bagsbaw P . G . S ., in recognition of the able way in which he had carried out the duties of W . M , of the Lodge during the past year .

ON Friday , 29 th ult ., at a Provincial Grand Chapter , held at Crewe , the Hon . Alan de Tatton Egerton , M . P ., was installed Grand Superintendent of the Province . There was a large attendance . The installation was performed by Comp . W . W . B . Beach , M . P ., J . of the Grand Chapter of England .
It has recently come to the knowledge of the Scribe E . of Grand Chapter that a not inconsiderable number of Chapters have failed to comply with the requirements of Rule 68 , Royal Arch Regulations , which provides that * . —
" Every Chapter shall keep a register of its members , and once m each year transmit direct to the Grand Scribe E ., and in Provinces and Districts , also to the Provincial or District Grand Scribe E ., a regular list signed by the First Principal and Scribe E . of its contributing members ; and of tho Companions who havo been exalted therein since the last return , with the names and numbers
of the Lodges to which they belonged ; and the dates of exaltation , also of all Companions who have joined tho Chapter during that period , with the date of their so joining , and the name and number of tho Chapter from which thoy joined , and also stating addresses , titles , professions , or occupations of all such newly admitted or joining Companions . "
and he accordingly requests Chapters that have so transgressed to forward the return to him with the least possible delay . It is pointed out that under Rule 78 , Royal Arch Regulations , a Chapter neglecting to make the required returns , or to register annually the names of all Companions who have been exalted and have joined the Chapter , is liable to erasure and forfeiture of its Charter of Constitution .

THERE was a more than usually large gathering oi Companions on the occasion of the last Convocation of this popular Chapter , held at the Royal Forest Hotel , Chingford , on the 28 th ult . It was not only the annual installation of the Principals , but there was a Brother to exalt , and this ceremony is so splendidly rendered in the Shurmur Chapter that a Masonic treat is always anticipated .

William Gower , whose work as P . S . was excellent .
