THE LOGIC CLUB .

IriE regular weekly meeting ot mis popular L-luo was held on Sunday , ist inst , at the Cavendish Rooms , Cavendish Square , W . Being Officers' day Bro . M . Miroy , a member of the Committee , was appointed to preside , a choice which

gave further evidence of the sound judgment of the worthy and highly esteemed Preceptor Bro . Robert Manuel , the working of the acting Master being highly appreciated . It was , indeed , a pleasure to witness the admirable manner in which all the Officers fulfilled their duties . Those present

included Bros . I . Seaman S . W , Nat . Robinson P . M . J . W , Robert Manuel P . M . Preceptor , R . D . Cummings P . M . Treas , J . J . Thomas P . G . Std . Br . Treasurer Benevolent Association , J . Percy Fitzgerald P . M . Secretary , W . Foxton S . D , R . G .

Robinson P . M . J . D , Sam Garcia W . M . 2168 acting D . C , J . T Murray Org , J . Carnaby I . G , E . Gatfield Inner Tyler , S . Ellis O . G . ; A . Craddock P . M ., A . G . Duck P . M ., and Guy Repton P . G . D . members of the Committee ; G . F . Carr , Maurice GarlandBarclay Gammon , G . H . Peters , W . J .

, Webster . B . McNeill A . C . Webb P . M ., T . Feistel P . M ., M .

Hendelsohn , N . Lyon , G . Mentasti P . M ., W . Fisher P . M ., W . A . Madeley , H . Saunion P . M ., L . Foppoli P . M ., H . C . Labes , Allen Gill , T . Fraser P . M ., J . Goldstein P . M ., J . Sterner , and others . Among the visitors were Bros . H . G . Danby , of the Genesius Club , and J . Wynman .

After the usual formalities Lodge was advanced to the second degree , when Bro . Guy Repton P . G . D . answered the questions and was entrusted . Lodge was further

advanced and the ceremony of raising was rehearsed , including the traditional history . The whole of the ceremonial work was rendered in such a manner as to constitute a Masonic treat . The fact of a Past Grand Officer officiating as the

candidate is worthy of special mention . It not only proved the interest taken by so high an official in the labour of the Order , but by the example set acted as a stimulus for special

effort on the part of the others associated in the work . Bro . Repton is himself a good exponent of the ritual , and would not be slow to resent anything like slovenly rendition on the : part of the Brother instructing him in the ceremonial—but this

is never necessary at the Logic Club . At the conclusion of the work Bro . Manuel paid a well deserved compliment to the W . M . for his excellent working , and said it was a capital idea to let Members of the Committee occasionally work a ceremony , otherwise they would

get rusty . That , however , was not the case with the present W . M , who had fulfilled his duties to perfection . Bro . Miroy , in reply , said it was two years since he had officiated as W . M , and when he took the position that morning in the Club , he felt a little strange , knowing that the members were very

particular about the working , especially their worthy Preceptor Bro . Manuel , but he gradually got over the nervousness , and was delighted to hear that his working had given satisfaction , lie sincerely thanked their Precentor Bro . Mannpl P M ( W

his compliment , and the Brethren for their encouragement The ballot was taken for Bros . Capt . Arthur Anthony Howell 108 , Louis Joel 2535 , and Antonio Parolini 2687 , and proved unanimous in their favour , which compliment was acknowledged by Bros . Parolini and Joel . Bro . Capt . Howell was not present .

Bros . J . J . Thomas . P . G . Std . Br , R . D . Cummings P . M ., A . G . Duck P . M ., and J . Percy Fitzgerald were appointed as a Sub-Committee to arrange the annual dinner . Bros . Allen Gill and Tom Fraser were appointed to act on the Audit Committee .

Bro . J . J . Thomas P . G . Std . Br . Treas . of the Benevolent Association said he had much pleasure in informing the W . M . and members that he had more than sufficient funds in hand for five or six ballots , which announcement was heartily received . Bro . Dr . J . Eyre will officiate to-morrow ( Sunday ) . After some communications and discussions the meeting was closed ,
