Albert road the report , showing a balanco in hand of £ 1 , 229 lis 2 d . Two

applicants were relieved without an entrenchment on the funded property , and it was announced that tho brethren had snbseribed that evening to tho amount of £ 17 17 s , Bros . L . M . and A . Anerhaan being tho largest contributors , in the names of tho ladies in their family . Bro . R . Emanuel returned thanks for tho toast of tho newly initiated . Bro . S . L . Hickman I . P . M ., then rose and proposed the

toast of the W . M . Ho stated that , by his strict integrity , and hard work , Bro . Dodson had arrived at tho grand position ho now occupies ho would bo a credit to the Lodge , and he was sure , under those auspices , he would have a happy and prosperous year ( cheers ) . Tho W . M ., in replying , thanked tho brethren for thoir kind expressions , and also for the high and honourable position they had placed him in ;

ho hoped to discharge his duties to their satisfaction , and to leave the chair with the same good feelings as his predecessor . The W . M . then proposed tho health of Bro . Hickman I . P . M ., and paid a deserved compliment for his great abilities and tho admirable manner ho had discharged his duties . He then placed on his breast a magnificent jewel , of artistic design , profusely set with diamonds

( manufactured by Bro . A . D . Loowenstark and Sons ) , and ho hoped ho might live long in health and prosperity to wear it . Bro . Hickman , in the course of a very excellent speech , said he had to thank the brethron for the valuable jewel presented to him ; ho would always look on it with pride , for it was a sonrce of great satisfaction to him to know that , during his year of office , the finances of the Lodge

were in a flourishing state , and he was indeed gratified to find he had gained the esteem of the brethren of the Lodge . Bro . J . Ross P . M . 205 , in returning thanks for tho toast of the visitors said , ho always considered tho Lodge of Tranquillity a good working Lodge , and ho felt a prido in it , but he was pleased to witness the perfect manner in which Bro . the minutes were read and confirmed ; the ceremony of initiation was rehearsed , Bro . Biddel acting as candidate . The first three sections of the lecture wero worked by Bro . The ceremonies of consecration and installation ( to be followed by a repast ) will shortly bo worked in this Lodgo of Instruction , of which duo notice will be given .
